This 3rd installment of the Awakening series was OK but not great. I enjoyed Moonfell Wood (2nd installment) a great deal more. The scenes in GK were not as visually beautiful or interesting. Again, this is not a series heavy in Hidden Object scenes so if that's your true love this one isn't for you. There were MANY mini-puzzles required and some multilayered. The difficulty level was about the same and Moonfell Wood and much better than the first Awakening that was very easy. The hints (from the purple owl) were for the most part unhelpful. My one true complaint is there were a few mini puzzles that had very vague or incomplete instructions. It was pretty frustrating trying to figure out exactly what you were supposed to do.... what the goal of the puzzle was. The strategy was not difficult once you figured out what they were asking for but they could definitely have been more detailed and clear instructions.
I would probably test drive the next installment before buying but overall I guess I would recommend The Goblin Kingdon.
I recommend this game!

This Awakening is much better than Dreamless Castle!
I was not a fan of the first game in this series - Awakening: Dreamless Castle. It was way too juvenile, geared toward young girls and the mini-puzles were very easy. The 2nd part of Awakening: Moonfell Wood was MUCH better. The scenes were beautiful. The mini-puzzles were more challenging (although not too advanced in difficulty). The story was more interesting and less hokey. The scenes were more complex but not so difficult to navigate that you became frustrated. Only con is that there was still very few hidden object scenes. You are once again looking for objects to allow the game to progress. Again a great deal more jigsaw puzzle type challenges than hidden objects. The play time was much longer and several challenges had multi-levels. Overall they really improved this next game in the Awakening series.
I recommend this game!

Awakening: The Dreamless Castle
After Awakening in a mysterious castle it's up to you to collect clues and items needed to solve perplexing puzzles and escape!
This game is best for teenage girls or younger. It was a bit too juvenile and "girly" for me with a few too many hearts, flowers and unicorns. The scenes are beautifully done and the story is interesting. However if you like hidden object games this is not for you. There are very few hidden object scenes. This is mostly collecting objects and solving mini puzzles. Unfortunately, the mini puzzles are not very challenging and some require no thought at all. If you are looking to chill out and not work too hard they are good for that. There are many jigsaw puzzle mini puzzles such as moving tiles to complete the picture so if you favor those you'll enjoy the number in this game. The Fairie "hints" are completely useless. The music gets a bit annoying so I turned it off about half way through the game. Overall, it's a beautiful game but does not score high on difficulty level and is too juvenile for my taste.
I don't recommend this game.

What's the point of a hidden object if they show you where they all are?
I was looking forward to playing this game. I don't normally do this but I decided to try the sample and play it for one hour before I purchased it. I'm very glad I did. The quality of the game looked great but in every hidden object puzzle they highlighted all of the hidden objects by flashing stars above them. The whole point of a hidden object game is to find the objects yourself! I got no satisfaction from the game showing me where they all were. The only thing this game does is test how good your mouse/cursor skills are. Too bad, it looked like it could have been really good. Don't waste your money if you want even a moderate level of challenge. Poor fun factor.
I don't recommend this game.

Lost Souls: Enchanted Paintings
After the police and FBI come up empty in their investigation, Bella turns to forces beyond our world to find her missing son!
Lost Souls: Enchanted Paintings is overall a decent game. Not fabulous but still enjoyable.
The pros: Nice detail on the various worlds in each painting; a ton of hidden object puzzles; the fact that a hint pops up telling you there is nothing else you can do on a given screen; nice variety in the worlds you visit; the flow of the game is done well so there are very few moments when you are ueselessly searching around for your next move; the fact that the game tells you when you have completed each location inside the paintings
The Cons: the music is pretty annoying (I shut it off about 10 mins into the game); the puzzles (hidden object and others) are not very challenging; it would have been nice to have a final puzzle or some other more complex ending once you complete the portrait of her son: collecting coins to buy trophies seemed pretty useless - what was the point?
Overall, I would recommend the game for $6.99 or lower but not sure it's worth $9.99 or even more for the Collectors Edition.
