I found this game to be rather frustrating for me. Here's why:
1. When you found something the game just said "you've found something useful, but often you didn't really know what that item was until it went into your inventory.
2. Then when you click on a hot spot, often it will say "I can use something here. OK. What should I find useful?
3. The guide, for me, wasn't all that helpful. It would say "walk down twice" or go left/right, but it didn't show you what scene you were supposed to be in, and the cut scenes didn't help, at least for me. I got stuck many times trying to figure it out.
4. Sometimes the map wasn't too helpful either. I have no idea what "go to original map" meant.
5. I never play the mini-games because most of the time they don't give you anything for you to pick up or otherwise use. I just find them annoying, and many of them are hard for me to figure out anyway.
6. For me, the story line was kinda lame. There are a bunch of other games that are basically the same thing.
Overall, it's a good game, the graphics are great and so is the voice over. I just think the developers of this series could have done a little better job.
I've really enjoyed this game. The story is a refreshing change from the dark and creepy ones. Graphics are very well done, I didn't have any problem finding things. The puzzles are original and different from most HO games. There are also different kinds of HO scenes, not all of them are just find objects, there are a couple puzzles where you have to match objects, and there's a find the difference one too. Overall, it's a very original game and I would recommend it to anyone.
I enjoyed this game. I bought the CE version, but found a few inconsistencies with both the blog walkthrough and the strategy guide. In some places in both the walkthrough and the guide the instructions were wrong, i.e. they said "go down two and turn left" and it ended up being "go down two and turn right", or "go down two" when it was actually "go down three".
There were also some clues that could have been clearer. One clue was "cone", and it was actually a PINE CONE you were looking for. Also, many of the HOG scenes were very gloomy and dark and it was hard to find the items, not to mention that some of the items didn't look like the clue was describing. I ended up using a lot of hints because of this.
All in all, it's a great game. I'll just have to play it a dozen more times to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing. LOL
I haven't completed the game yet, but wanted to review it anyway. I've been looking for HO games without the walkthroughs, strategy guides, etc. I've got all the BCA and AA games already, and was looking for something different.
The graphics are great, most of the objects are right there in plain sight, but there are some that are quite cleverly hidden. I don't care about VO, I can read. I don't particularly care for the hint system, but that makes it more challenging for me.
I enjoyed this game. Great graphics and the objects aren't too hard to find, that is, they're not minuscule. The only thing that I don't like is that the game doesn't tell you how much trash/recycling is left for you to find. Maybe the developers can update it so it shows this?
I love the BCA games. I prefer just plain old HOG games, and the BCA games are one of the few series that are just that. It seems as if most of the rest of the genre has gone to adventure games, where you need a walk through and all just to figure out what you're supposed to be doing. I'm glad the developers of this series haven't done that. I'd like to think there will still be some straight HOGs for those of us to play who prefer them.
All I can say to the naysayers out there is if you're looking for an adventure game, this ain't it!
I recommend this game!

It's a lot of fun to play, but there are many words I don't find because I've never heard of them. Like ort, tor, elan, and eclat. My gosh, I don't remember learning them in spelling class. Good grief, if you have to use the dictionary to find out what the words mean, it's not fun anymore.
I recommend this game!

This is a straigh HOG game, which I prefer to any of the HOG Adventure games. There's no picking up this or that to get to some other location to find something else to do something else. I hate that kind of game.
This one has great graphics, don't know about the music because I always play without it, I find music a distraction when I play. I'm happy that they changed the tone when you find something, the bell in the other AA games was irritating to me. I'll definitely be playing it again. I recommend it to others.
I recommend this game!

It's addicting and challenging when you get to the higher levels. I did find, however, that some of the definitions don't quite match the words. I don't know about the music, though, because I never play games with the music on. Otherwise, it's a fun game.
