As an advanced gamer, I found this game to be way too easy. I was constantly waiting for customers to come in the door, tapping my fingers as I watched the timer tick down. I rarely got less than a gold on the first try without using any boosts, and when I did have to replay a silver level, I only had to use the "freeze" boost to keep up. (As a side note, they addressed this complaint in Cake Shop 3.)
That being said, it was a fun and graphically pleasing counter cafe game. Anything I disliked about it went along with the "not enough going on" theme: Tips rarely make a difference in achieving gold and money is pointless because you always have enough to keep building the next cafe. It was much longer than the original, which was great, and there were a variety of machines to use.
If you're looking for something tough, I would recommend Cake Shop 3 or Burger Shop 2. If you're looking for something easy to medium, this is definitely the game for you.
I recommend this game!

As counter-cafe games go, this is an easy and short game. If you like this kind of thing (I do), then you'll enjoy Cake Shop. However, if you need something more of a challenge, you should look at something like the Stand o' Food series. I had no problem at all getting gold on each level without hardly trying.
The graphics are good and the sounds are all right (although I always turn off the music and listen to my own). There's no storyline to speak of, and your reward is building a house part by part, which I think was unnecessary because you don't even get to pick what things look like.
I purchased it and had no regrets, except that I wish it were longer.
I recommend this game!

This conveyor belt cafe game was one of the first BFG's I bought and still one of my favorites. This is hands-down the "largest" game I've played on this site - with tons of levels, multiple modes, and many challenges that I've still not finished.
The gameplay itself has you creating breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a variety of demanding customers, including some unique and amusing characters. As the food comes down the conveyor belt, you have to manage who is getting what in what order - serving a client makes their patience go up, so someone with four items on their list can wait while the impatient guy that wants one thing needs to be served almost immediately after arrival. I've demo'd the first game and found it fun, and this one gives you even more options and interesting challenges.
Some of the harder levels get quite frustrating and it is difficult to finish the gold medals, but that's what makes me coming back for more. I'd greatly recommend this for someone looking for a lot of value for their money, as the replay value is enormous and the challenges never stop!
I recommend this game!

This is a Time Management and Memory game that gets quite challenging near the end of the game. There is no story, per se, but in my opinion, this is one of the rare gems that doesn't require it.
As the proprietor of a chain of sushi restaurants - which you personally get to name! - you serve customers who come into the shop and decide on a number of recipes. You must make the recipes from memory, or else look up in the recipe book. The food comes out on a conveyor belt, which adds challenge to managing your clientele, since someone at the closer end can snatch up what someone at the farther end ordered, who in turn gets frustrated at the wait. To keep stocked up, you have to order ingredients - which becomes a bit frustrating at times, since you can only order a limited amount.
I found this game quite enjoyable and replayable, although it's one of the more challenging games that I've played.
I recommend this game!

One of my favorite aspects of Time Management games is the frenzied clicking and queuing. I've described myself as "an avid clicker," which has amused my gaming friends to no end, but it definitely describes what I love about this game.
The drawback to this game is that frenzied clicking is about all it has to offer. There is no plot, the graphics are poor, and the sounds are, quite frankly, annoying. I've played the game and gotten Expert on all the levels - of which there are over 50 - which was quite a challenge and took many play sessions. If you're like me and you love clicking and Expert-level Time Management, then you'll like it (although you might get bored and have to come back to it).

This game is neither Tycoon nor Farming, but a fun combination of the two. You start a day, then water plants and harvest flowers when they pop up. At the end of the day, you create potions to sell (or sell individual blossoms, which gets you less money but more room in your basket). You manage your water supply and complete quests throughout the levels. The storyline is plausible but a bit lacking, but the graphics are absolutely gorgeous.
If you like this game, you'll also like Magic Farm, which has very similar elements, but slightly different gameplay for managing your garden. The Fifth Gate gives you the chance to complete quests in "Expert" time, which can be quite challenging. It also gives you additional, interesting flower types to help manage the frenzied clicking that happens at higher levels - flowers that harvest everything around you and flowers that freeze all the bugs attacking your plants. The only draw-back was that it seemed a bit short and light on plot compared to Magic Farm.
I recommend this game!

This game is neither Tycoon nor Farming, but a fun combination of the two. You start a day, then water plants and harvest flowers when they pop up. At the end of the day, you create bouquets of flowers to sell (or sell individual blossoms, which gets you less money but more room in your basket). You manage your water supply and complete quests throughout the levels for an engaging storyline across several different villages/lands. One of the very few draw-backs is the quite dated graphics.
If you like this game, you'll also like the Fifth Gate, which has beautiful and stunning graphics and very similar elements, but slightly different gameplay for managing your garden. Magic Farm allows you to slowly complete quests at your own pace, whereas the Fifth Gate pressures you with completing them in "Expert" time. (I enjoy that aspect, but I know many people do not!) Magic Farm also allows you to revisit all farms once the story completes, with additional longer quests - such as "Please come up with 30 XYZ" - which will take more than the couple days it takes in the storyline quests.
I recommend this game!

This is an amazing, fun Farming game that I just can't get enough of. I happened upon it randomly as I was looking for something to buy to get my 6 credits for the month, and I absolutely love it. Every once in awhile, I see if the developer is creating something new - but alas, they are not (as of right now, at least).
It combines both timed and relaxed elements, with different levels of play, and a mini-game that makes sense - unlike so many TM-genre mini-games. The plot is a bit meandering, but still enjoyable to experience.
If you love Farming games, you will love this game, period. It has all the typical elements - growing flowers, using machines to make food, and filling orders. Try it and you won't be disappointed!
I recommend this game!

When I first started playing BFG's, I was quite horrified at some of the Hidden Object ones that they slipped into the Time Management category. However, I decided to give some of them a chance and this was the first one that I decided I would purchase.
The premise of the game is that you run restaurant and cook different recipes for clients. The TM aspect comes from the timer ticking down as clients wait for you to prepare the food; however, my first play through the game, I did Relaxed mode. The HO aspect comes from you finding the food in amidst a big mess of food everywhere. The part that made the game manageable for me was that for each restaurant, the food stays in the same place - if you're looking for flour, it'll always be in the same spot (once it respawns after you use it).
There were a lot of restaurants and the order you got them in seemed random, but after playing for awhile, I learned where everything was. If you love TM games but ever wanted to try HO games, I would recommend trying this game. I even played through a second time with the timer and found that I did quite well!
I recommend this game!

The premise of the game is that you run a restaurant and cook different recipes for clients. The TM aspect comes from the timer ticking down as clients wait for you to prepare the food. The HO aspect comes from you finding the food in amidst a big mess of food everywhere. The part that made the game manageable for me was that for each half-restaurant, the food stays in the same place - if you're looking for flour, it'll always be in the same spot (once it respawns after you use it).
I had the most trouble with transitions, regularly failing the first level of the next half-restaurant (as the food location changes once per restaurant). However, once I got into the game after about half an hour, I found it quite enjoyable. If you love TM games but ever wanted to try HO games, I would recommend trying this game.
I recommend this game!
