I didn't get past the demo. I decided to trash this game. The hint button is very vague, not specific. There is no direction. Usually the hint buttons direct you. Not this one. I kept going back and forth in the same area, because I didn't know what to do next. Level of challenge, therefore, is off the charts. I found this game totally frustrating and not worth the purchase.
Course, that's me... I'm sure if you're more into a challenge where you are pretty much left "on your own" with no help whatsoever, this game is for you. Me.... I like a nice "RELAXING" game that I can enjoy playing. No muss, no fuss. This was not it!
This is a far better game than the original first, "The Sultan's Labyrinth" and the storyline is carefully thought out. It has great challenges, though not as good as other games I've played... still decent. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a top rating is that my computer couldn't handle some of the game-play and froze up on me and won't let me finish the game. That's not the fault of the designer or creators. That could be a computer problem on my end. All in all, though, a decent game for those whose computers can handle it.
I think even children like a bit of a challenge and this game provided none. The repetition of H.O. scenes was boring and the horn blow each time you chose correctly was irritating. Levels consist of one room challenges, which are hardly challenges for adults. I just don't think there was enough careful crafting of this game to warrant a high rating. I would have given it a 2 1/2 stars, because to me it wasn't even OK. Sorry. Try it yourself. I'm just saying....

Hidden Mysteries®: Gates of Graceland®
Explore the home of the King of Rock and Roll while searching for clues about a lost song!
I've been a fan of Elvis' since I was a teenager. Started collecting some memorabilia and his records back then, too.
As stated in my review title, I love anything to do with Elvis, so when this game came out, I didn't hesitate. I was excited! But when I started playing, I became a little less enchanted... not by much though. I still give it a 5-star rating just because it has to do with Elvis. I had minor difficulty with the sound and some of the visual... they became distorted throughout the game until I completed the play in that section, then when I returned the sound and visual improved. For me, the game-play was fun, but could have included an expanded storyline. The focus is primarily Graceland, which is the title of the game after-all. Clips of Elvis are great, but the game-play challenge is not very challenging. The premise of discovering a secret song Elvis was writing for his mother, leaves me somewhat numb. I don't recall that Elvis ever wrote any songs... not that he couldn't have. But the song that's written (in any case) is not the quality I would expect Elvis to write.... sorry. Whoever did write that song for the game didn't put enough effort into it. It lacks emotional impact and the melody is nothing special.
Still.... all in all I enjoyed the game and I would recommend it to any die-hard Elvis fan. I just hope you don't run into any of the problems I encountered. Maybe it's just me. I hope that's all it is. I would like to see more games on Elvis or perhaps another famous personality.
This is sweet, relaxing game-play with a powerful objective, because Sophia - in aiding herself - saves so many others.
The only thing that's missing is her own Prince Charming. When will he arrive? Perhaps to save her and claim her as his own? That would perfect this series altogether.
Make it work with system 10.5 and I'll buy it everytime. Beautiful story. Thank you for the new one. I've already bought it! More! More! I can't get enough of this series.
Over-all, an excellent game. Very pleasant. The adventure was captivating and I love the aspect of good versus evil statues, wherein you get the aid of the good statues, once you fulfill a need they have, to help you. Then, too, the stone sculptures that get added to your inventory... also there to assist you. That feels very exhilerating to have help from characters within these games.... more than just your hint button character. The hint button character here is also the narrator of the game story. My favorite character was the archer. I almost wish more could have been done with him. This game reminded of the Awakening series and the Snow Queen Games. I just love a good adventure game. There is a small negative: while the game was super and I did buy it, because I loved it... however, it could have been a bit more challenging and the storyline a little more involved. Still, it was a wonderful game and I do recommend it most highly.... because it also has a quality of uniqueness and that's a plus.
I always start my games at beginners level, to get the feel for the game play and lessen the frustration level. I wasn't expecting much when I purchased this game. Most HOG games provide interesting play and adequate level of challenge, but they lack uniqueness... not only in the adventure plot, but also in the method of acquiring objects and getting past traps. This game is stupendous in all areas of play: the plot is amazing, and the traps and puzzles are are ingenious as well. Kudos to the designers and game play strategists. A necessary evil: I love the hint button in any game... we all need a little assist now and then. And of course the guide that tells you exactly what you need to do at any given moment. The map tells you where you are, in case you get lost.... and believe me you will get lost. There must be upwards to fifty (if not fifty) rooms or areas of game play... and that in itself was quite a challenge remembering locations (although the guide helps a great deal there) but that was so much a part of the excitement . This game is definitely a winner. The only disappointment for me was the ending. I don't like negative endings. My best ending is the hero wins.... but if there is going to be a sequel (and available for OS 10.5) I'll be waiting for it. I definitely recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

I'm an adult, but let me tell you... I love these I SPY games, because they are so imaginative and fun to play. The graphics are wonderful, the music and sound effects are excellent and the rhyme for your "to find" objects makes the game very pleasant. Unless you're really into "exciting" and "heart-pounding" game play, please don't pass these games by. They're great for relaxing and fun play for the entire family.
I always play in "beginner" mode my first time through, because I don't want a challenge. I just want a pleasant, easy game enjoyment. The overall play was wonderful, but I really expected it to play like the first game. It was "darker" and more sinister, which is appropriate, I suppose because of the story plot. The evil witch has stolen both her Prince husband and her daughter and she must rescue them. In the end, Princess Isabella distracts the witch and with the help of her fairy friend her child is saved. What disappointed me the most was that she couldn't save her husband. If there is a third installment, I'm afraid it won't be available for the same system requirements as these and I'll be left out of the opportunity to play it.
