i really enjoyed this game. it starts out in a museum the night before a special exhibit goes live -- a believable scene and scenario. but when the star exhibit unexpectedly runs away and then kidnaps your daughter, things become strange and creepy!
music: appropriately grim.
graphics: realistic and detailed.
characters: i liked them and the long-dead old pirates were rather amusing at times.
storyline: compelling.
puzzles: relatively straightforward, although they are often complex, requiring pieces gathered from other scenes. quite enjoyable. i also enjoyed the variety of puzzles, ranging from opening tricky locks to brewing chemical potions.
hidden objects: roughly 2/3rds were easy to find, the other 1/3 were difficult to see or required some sort of interaction with other objects in the scene to create the necessary hidden object.
my interaction: one hour demo (included on my "wish list").

i love animals, but the ferret, named ferris, was annoying. i assume that ferris is intended to act as a plot device, to advance the game, but i think ferris was poorly implemented. i tried to ignore my dislike of that ferret, but eventually gave up after i realized that ferris is the jar-jar binks of video games.

this game features gorgeous graphics and music, so for those reasons, i WANTED so very much to love this game and to purchase it after my one hour demo had concluded.
HOWEVER, the puzzle in the first chapter of the game requires some of the musical note pieces to be rotated to fit properly into the puzzle. this is where my problems started and my game play ended. there is no way (that i could figure out) to rotate those pieces on a touch-sensitive trackpad. it would appear that this game was designed for those computers with the traditional left- and right-click mouse, which most new mac laptops and desktops lack.
sure, i can skip this puzzle after i stare at the screen for a long period of time, but really, it is so frustrating to actually SEE the puzzle solution in my mind but to be unable to do anything to solve it. it made me wonder how many more puzzles in this game require similar mouse-dependent manipulations that laptops and desktops typically lack?

i am not a fan of match 3 games so you'll have to read this review with that in mind.
the name of this game attracted my attention so i decided to give it a try. basically, as you match three species of animals, they give rise to one "higher" species. as you progress through the game, you "evolve" ever higher species after starting with several lower species.
the graphics are cute, the story line is obvious (to evolve higher species for each "habitat" provided) but the music is annoyingly repetitious.
if you are a match 3 fan, then you'll probably enjoy this game. if you are like me and don't enjoy match 3 games, then this game will not change your mind.
I recommend this game!

i was looking for "something different" by typing in random search words and looking at what popped up. well, ok, my search terms were probably less-than-random since i am a horse-lover and a former horse owner who really misses being around horses!
that said, i was skeptical about this game when i first saw it but decided to give it a try anyway. i am glad i did! i was surprised to find this is a fun game that requires skill and coordination with your mouse. it also has a realistic storyline and it's fun to collect trophies and medals as you progress through the levels.
i do wish that the appearance of the horse and rider could be customized so the game feels more personal. but overall, this is a fun and absorbing video game that will appeal to horse-lovers of all ages, and to those people who are working on improving their hand-eye coordination and quick-click response timing.

this is a timed game where you have a specific (short) time period to collect jewels that are .. ahem .. "left behind" .. by some really adorable baby dragons. these jewels are added to your treasure chest and are used to make jewelry that you sell so you can purchase dragon eggs (which then hatch into more cute baby dragons), and a variety of helpful creatures to help you tend and protect the newly hatched dragons.
this game features cute graphics and an amusing (if you think about it) source for the jewels that you're collecting. that said, i was surprised that i didn't enjoy this game more -- you may enjoy it more than i did. in short, this game is cute and somewhat fun but not particularly compelling for a computer game. (it may be better suited as a smartphone game.)

if you like hidden object or time management games, then this game will certainly appeal to you because it combines the best of both genres with a simple but reasonable storyline.
basically, this game is a store where you must find objects to fill each customer's order. the objects that you must find actually are part of the storyline instead of being a jumbled collection of random items that you must search out, where only a few of them have any relevance or use to the story.
i also enjoyed the timed aspect of each level, where you have a certain period of time to find these objects as in a real store where you are serving real customers.
the graphics are also nicely rendered. this brings me to my next point, which probably sounds nit-picky, but it's a source of annoyance at times: unlike many video games where the boundaries around each clickable object are sloppy; the boundaries around the objects in this game are very close to the object's outline instead of being much larger or smaller.
this is a very clever combination of two often distinct game genres to create a very absorbing game.

this is a very clever and addictive time management game where you (and a robot, if you ask for its help) fill food orders for your restaurant customers. basically, you serve meals to your customers by assembling their orders from items sent out of the kitchen on a conveyor belt. each of your customers has a different personality and food preference (and patience!). the game starts out easy enough but the level of the challenge increases quickly so that you get hooked as you progress through the levels.
unlike most video games, where the written explanatory portions are usually silly or just poorly worded, the dialogue for with this game is surprisingly well written and sometimes, it's even amusing. the graphics are cute and the story line is simple enough that you don't get bogged down in details, but it's not so simple that your intelligence is insulted.
overall, you will enjoy this game because it is fast-paced, interesting and motivational -- you'll want to win all the trophies!

i am a fan of large file games and of adventure games, and i have an especially soft spot in my heart for games that are (or appear to be) educational. but i was unable to get this game to work for me. i could collect the items in the cave, but was unable to recall the item inventory so i could use those items to progress. there is a walkthrough on this site that is downloadable but it's only for PCs, so that was zero help for a mac game. i finally found a walkthrough on a gaming discussion forum elsewhere on the web, which told me i was on the right track, but since i couldn't access my inventoried items, i was left spinning in circles.
I don't recommend this game.

Faerie Solitaire
Have some Faerie Solitaire fun in this addicting Card game! Raise a Faerie pet and repopulate the magical land of Avalon.
this game is surprisingly fun and, yes, addictive. it takes a well-known theme, the card game, solitaire, and builds upon it to create a fun little story with faeries, hidden magical eggs and trapped magical creatures that need to be freed. i thought it might be a fun little time-waster, but it's so much more than that -- it actually grabbed me and sucked me right in!
