All good comments. Nothing bad about this game from start to finish. I only wish there had been a bonus chapter. I am anticipating their next game. I hope you try this game for the experience of playing a game that did it all right. ENJOY!!!!
This games is tops on my list of favorites. It has everything I look for in a game and it was VERY well done. The storyline was unique and flowed at a good pace. The graphics were fantastic. The HOS's were good and interactive some harder than others. The games were good with good instructions, again a mix of difficulty. There is a jumping map but I didnt use its much cause you generally don't have to travel that far. One flaw - the voice over. It was like watching a Godzilla movie, its probably the worst I've seen. Game playing time was good, took two days to complete. I enjoyed playing this game so much I went back and purchased the other "Surface" games. I hope to enjoy them just as much as this game. I RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE.
Sorry about this review, but I was really looking forward to playing another of the Dark Tale games. Pros: Graphics-Cons: everything else. I only played the demo but I was bored to tears. Nothing new except a cute dog. I really feel let down by the developers of this game. Gamers are a little more savvy than you give them credit. There were expectations that just weren't met with this new game. Why bother spending more money just play one of the older games in the series. I gurantee you will enjoy it more and it won't cost you a penny. I definetly would not recommend buying this game.

I was really looking forward to playing this game.. And I did, enjoy graphics, story line, and minigames which are really pretty good. Then I started the second half of this game and it was as if they let a whole new staff finish witing the game. The constant running back and forth between floors to place one item became demanding, boring and frustrating. And you cant really continue without placing that one item to advance. Thank god for the map, because I didn't remember where I was or was going at that point, it covers a very large area. Its really a shame, this could have been one of my favorite games.

I enjoyed every minute of this game..even the extra gameplay. I will say that there is a lot of running back and forth but the map cuts out the frustration, just click and you are there, love that feature in a game. Wish they all had it! The CE is well worth the money. Can't wait to play this again!
Simply put, there is not one redeeming quality worth spending even $2.99 to buy for this game. There are terrible: HOS, voiceovers (Natasha and Bullwinkle?), run, run, run back and forth to scenes (thank God for the map), games have terrible instructions, story line is just so-so, music was annoying. I found this game frustrating and not any fun to play!
I really did enjoy playing this game. The graphics were great, the storyline, although not that unusual, has a some surprising twists which were very good. The HOS's were very good for the most part, but I find it annoying when the graphic artists purposesly hide objects that are so difficult to find that even if you use the "hint" button you can't see the object. Mini-Games, which I love, were mostly average and not enough of them. I did appreciate that there wasn't the constant running back and forth to locations, which is maybe why I thought the game was kinda short, and I did buy the CE version, which gave you an extra chapter to play, not worth the extra money. I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for something a little different and not wanting to invest a lot of time playing a game, I would not recommend buying the CE, unless you want wallpaper and screensavers. The ending leads you to believe that there will be a sequel. I hope it does.
If you are looking for a game that is just fun to play this the game for you. That's not to say that you don't have to think to play the games, some were more difficult than others and very original. No, it s not a particularly long game, but I dont think the intent was to give you an long drawn out intensive brain boggling game. It's just fun to play all the way around. Graphics are colorful and distinct, well done and really pleasing to the eye, You don't have to strain with fuzziness. I bought this game because I was looking for a break after playing 13th Skull, which I thought was terrible (loved the other games in series). Characters and voices were likeable in this game but I can't comment on the music, because I always turn it down. But I can tell you there are very real insect noises. I swore there was a cricket in my house until I realized it was the game. I will play this game over and over again!
This was the last Mystery Case File game I needed to buy to complete the series. I wish I hadn't! It was so long and drawn out running back and forth only to find I really didn't know what i was looking for or supposed to do. Everything has to be done in a certain order or you can't advance any further in the game. I spent more time writing things down and reading entries than playing the game. HOS's were pretty good but there was always one item that you just couldn't see so you had to use the hint. There were no instructions for the games and most of the time the hints didn't help and those were the games you cant skip, which I generally don't do. I just didn't get any pleasure out of this game and in fact didn't finish it, wiped it off my computer. I have never done that before. I was such a shame because the other games are some of my very favorites.
I liked this game because it was different, but it is rather dark.
Most of the graphics were great and the mini-games were fun to play. There was an element of surprise throughtout the game and enough challenge to keep you engaged to the end.
I have one complaint. I really get frustrated with games that also have a collector's edition because the programmers basically take away the hints and can leave you hanging and confused sometimes. I have purchased CE's previously but I don't think they are worth twice the money, I'm just not interested in a screensaver for every game I play. I like a challenge but there are times I got turned around and couldn't find my way or wasn't sure what to do with an item I won in an HO scene. Still, having said all that, I would recommend this game.
