I found the game annoying for a different reason entirely: I love jump maps and was excited to see this game has one. However, when I went to the room that showed an exclamation point on the map, I could find nothing to do there. When I hit the hint button, it directed me to a different room! Why was there an exclamation point on this room to begin with? This happened more than once in the 20 minutes I played the demo, which really put me off. I got where I needed to go eventually, but that extra step was beyond irritating. I think I'll pass and wait for it to go on sale.
I don't believe this game is given enough credit by reviewers who are used to dark, complicated games. I like those, too, but for a delightful change of pace, this is your game. The graphics are pretty, the hidden object scenes are clear and crisp, and the music is lovely. It's not an extremely difficult game, but you do have to think logically.
I also don't believe this is a game for children. I'm an intelligent adult, and I had a lot of fun playing it. So if you want a break from skeletons, werewolves and mad scientists, give Florence a try - you might be pleasantly surprised!
This game has beautiful graphics and a very engaging story line. Who doesn't want to fight diabolic criminals aboard the Emperor's royal train and solve an ancient mystery to boot? The hidden object scenes can be a little challenging, but only because they are so crammed with colorful and intriguing objects. It's a wonderful break from morbid and creepy games. My only real quibble: the voice-overs of the Chinese characters are so terrible, it's embarrassing!
I really enjoyed this game. The story is intriguing, graphics are excellent, & the puzzles are challenging without being impossible. Music is monotonous, but I turn that off anyway. The flow of the game is very good, but if you get stuck the hint button tells you where to go next. My only quibble is some of the hidden object scenes are blurry, which means you cannot spot items that are the same color as the background. They aren't all like that - some are very clear - but the blurry ones are irritating & frustrating. But the overall game is so good, I highly recommend it.
I'm an avid IHOG player, and I liked this game a lot. The graphics are good, the story is interesting, and most importantly for me, the gameplay moves in a smooth, logical manner. You use an object almost immediately after finding it and your inventory list is always minimal. I was a bit fooled by the demo because I never even got out of her house in the first hour! But once you reach the jungle, things move quickly. The game is a tad on the short side. Puzzles are fun and not too difficult. Hidden object scenes can be challenging because some objects are too well blended into the background, but I've certainly seen worse. I have found the game to have good re-play value, too.
