It takes a few rounds to get used to because it's different from a typical Match 3, but it's fun and challenging to figure it out. Allows for restarting if you find yourself stuck on a level. Each round includes a main goal and an optional bonus goal. You don't have to complete both to advance. Definitely requires some strategy and experience to figure out how to complete each round. The characters, graphics, and even the music are delightful.
All roads lead to Rome! With thousands of years of art, history, and culture on display, it's the perfect destination for your next Big City Adventure.
I have enjoyed the Big City Adventure games when I didn't want a high degree of challenge and mainly just wanted to search for hidden objects without having to engage in a complicated story line. But I have to say that this one is too easy. The "hidden" objects are very easy to find, and the puzzles are extremely easy. Maybe this game is designed to appeal to elementary school students. As an adult, I appreciate a bit more challenge. I don't remember the previous Big City Adventure games being this easy.
I still enjoyed the playing the clutter games and most of the puzzles, but I found the story line about a depressed teenaged girl, well -- just depressing. I actually preferred learning about Joe in the earlier versions. I would also like to see more new objects in the clutter arrays. Most of them have been used since the first version, and I'm getting tired of them. Some of them, I don't even know what they are -- humidifiers, emesis basins? Yuk! I was hoping for more in Clutter VI.
I like this type of simple game where you just search for hidden objects and solve puzzles, but this one seems a bit easier than the previous games in this series. Only in the last few scenes were there some seriously hidden objects. However, it's still an enjoyable game and pastime.
I loved everything mentioned by other reviewers as things they didn't like. The challenge of the match 3 play is unparalleled by any other game I've played but always doable. I loved the explosions -- one of the best parts of any good match 3, IMHO. Definitely addictive. I was disappointed with the story line. The ghosts were not very interactive and except for a few "free" coins, there were no surprises. The same amount of coins were paid for every level, no matter how difficult. The mahjong puzzles were okay, but I ended up skipping them because they were repetitive and slow compared to the main game play. Overall, I loved the graphics and the match 3 play, but the story line and reward system could be improved.
I haven't purchased a HOG after playing a demo for quite awhile. I have come to find most of them sort of tedious and boring. This one, though, held my interest throughout the demo, and I was eager to buy it so that I could continue playing. The puzzles are different and integrated into the game story. Although I would prefer more hidden object scenes, the two I encountered in the demo were different and one of them was particularly challenging. I don't care a lot about story lines -- this one is about the same as others -- sort of melodramatic and corny -- but I like that the found objects mostly make sense and that there are not too many scenes to traverse to use them. Well, I have to get back to playing the game now.
I just finished the 1-hour demo, and I purchased the game. This game is just what someone who prefers pure a HOG without all the traipsing around between scenes has been waiting for. It contains many things to find -- all of which have value in the game -- and just a small amount of interaction with the environment. The repartee between the characters is a bit cheesy and sometimes too long, but it's easy to skip. Some of the puzzles are a bit different from others I have seen. I even like the music! My only issue is that it's made for wide monitor (to be expected), and it has a scaling feature, but neither mode works very well on my screen. Anything round appears elongated. But, it doesn't interfere with game play or my enjoyment of the game.
This is an extremely fun match 3 game. It has a charming story line with likable characters. The play increases in difficulty with each level but also with more rewards and power ups. The story is a "quest" to find objects needed both on the game board to complete a level and by the villagers to build their village and send "tribute" to their kingdom. The game board is dynamic and different at each level. Here's a tip: if you are can't complete a level because you can't find an object needed (like a knife or a rope), it could be hidden in one of the those pesky lock-pick treasure chests that just won't open. If that happens (it happened to me a couple of times), you can just exit and start the level over. The objects are randomly placed every time, so it's unlikely you'll get stuck again.
I played the demo and then purchased the game. I liked the graphics very much, and the dialog is just enough to help with game play. I agree with other reviewers that the story line is silly, but hey, this is a game, and most of the story lines are silly. It's the play itself that matters, and this game moves along pretty well with the area to be covered not too daunting. There is quite a bit of interactivity in both the hidden object scenes and the game play itself. The HOS are out of the ordinary, and most of the puzzles are fun, a bit different, and just about the right amount of challenging. I have played a lot of HOGs and usually when I play a demo, I think to myself "same-o, same-o," but this game held my attention.
