The graphics are awesome, the music is pleasant, the puzzles doable and there are plenty of locations to keep you busy. The hidden items are fairly easy to spot and none of the scenes are cluttered. There is a fair bit of to and froing, but if you get lost, the hint button tells you where to go next and recharges very quickly. I didn't have to use the walkthrough at all. I didn't find all the morphing objects, but that didn't bother me too much, it'll give me a chance to find them next time. Hint - return the portraits to the portrait room as soon as you find them, even if it seems like a pain to go all the way back there when you're on a roll, but some portraits, once in place, give you items in return, which you will need to go on. I found no flaw or disappointment with this game and I can't wait for a sequel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Some reviews mentioned the quality of graphics. I had no problem with them, maybe not as crisp as some other games, but still very good and realistic, especially the water. Yes, a few items were a little hard to find, but I find it adds to the value of the game. It's not really much fun if the items are too easy to find like in some other games. I didn't have to use the walkthrough. The hint button is quite sufficient if you get stuck and once an area is done with you can't access it anymore, so that helps to minimise time wasting. I also liked the fact that it's a true HO game and not overloaded with impossible puzzles. The few puzzles were easy and I didn't have to skip any of them, so if you are really into challenging puzzles, this might not be the game for you.
I recommend this game!

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles
Charles Baskerville is the latest victim of a centuries-old curse! Help Holmes break the curse before the next murder occurs!
I loved this game from beginning to end. It has a good balance of HO and puzzles. The map is especially useful to know where you still have stuff to do and which areas are done, so you don't waste a lot of time, also you can click directly onto the area on the map and it takes you there instead of running around and backtracking. A nice bonus are the trophies you can collect along the way for things like not using the hint button, not skipping puzzles, finding a certain amount of items etc. The only scene which disturbed me (and I don't get disturbed easily) was the Frankendog room. I didn't like that at all.
This is one of the first games I downloaded and it's still one of my favourites. Yes, there is lots of running back and forth, but the little monkey helps you along if you don't know where to go next or if you get lost. I used that monkey a lot. lol Good ratio of hidden object scenes and puzzles. Had to skip a few of the puzzles, but all in all, a fun game.
Pros - stunning visuals, love the pocket dragon, nice story, long game so its good value for money, broken up into sections so you don't have to suddenly run back all the way to the beginning of the game to use an item.
Cons - Not very many HOS and way too many puzzles, which are pretty repetitive (tiles swapping, match pairs, untangle etc# and not very challenging. I ended up skipping most of them towards the end, not because I couldn't do them, but because I got sick of them. Also the fairy hints aren't always helpful #she'll highlight an area that needs attention even though the item needed for that task hasn't been added to your inventory yet) If you like a game that has puzzle overload, this is for you. If you like a game that has lots of HOS, forget it.
This is one of the more frustrating games in the HOS genre. The hints aren't very helpful other than helping you locate where items are. Sometimes its very difficult to figure out where to use items in the inventory and some puzzles are not very well explained. I had to use the forum on numerous occasions and found that many others had the same frustrating problems I did. Not one of my favourites. I got it for free, so I can't complain too much I suppose. Visuals are decent and the music is not too annoying.
