Given the fact that it's been specifically pointed out how much the beta testers enjoyed this title, I'm highly doubtful.
Considering I was one of the beta testers, I believe that even less.
And the final thing I notice is that there are a lot of people who have given this one star and then there are a bunch of 5 star reviews which seem to touch on many of the same points.
To the game itself:
Good grief, no.
I was so excited to be a beta tester for one of my favourite series and I excitedly started playing...to discover it is an old clunky HO game that was thankfully left behind a few years ago.
This game has zero charm and looks old and cheap.
It sadly looks like something they threw together from scraps of their previous games and added some lists. I'm really, really disappointed.
I'm sorry, but this game is turkey.
I don't recommend this game.

This once magnificent mansion has been a haven of evil spirits. Banish the evil spirits in this match-3 adventure!

I was really excited when I saw Cursed House 4. I love the previous 3, but unlike those, this game lacks all personality.
The previous 3 games had a style and gameplay of their own, but everything that was different and interesting seems to have been stripped out. This is basically another Laruaville with a different background. So get one of those on sale and save your money for something with a little more imagination.
So, so disappointing.
I don't recommend this game.

I played the demo of this game and at first, I thought it was a small, simple little game with little challenge.
However, I liked the art style and I played a bit longer and I'm really glad I did. I bought it after playing about 15 mins.
I don't often write reviews of games, but I have chosen to write this one because a lot of people have had a quick look and decided it was pretty basic, but you really need to play for yourself and give it a chance.
The first location is getting a certain score in a given amount of moves, but there are loads of locations to unlock. I've been playing this for several hours over the last few days and I've still not unlocked all the locations.
Each location has a different match 3 mode (clear the ice, collect so many stars, unlock so many chests etc), so not just one style all the way through.
The storyline is nice. There is an evil warlock heading to the valley, but there are also other challenges. Someone always needs help with something and you could be sent to any location to get the items you need.
There are also various creatures wandering around the valley. Some you need to remove and some like the little stripey pigs that you feed baskets of acorns to, and they are really, really cute!
The music is good and fits the game without being intrusive. The gameplay is smooth and fun and this is a game I'll replay lots of time, although I'm only about 1/5th of the way through as it is!
So, give it a go for yourself. Play the demo and give it a chance to show you that it has a lot to offer.
I recommend this game!

I downloaded the demo for this before it was rated and after I played it, I was really surprised to see the bad reviews, so I thought I'd chip in on the positive side.
I thought this game would be very dark right at the beginning, but I soon found myself hauling luggage around a train station instead of fighting the forces of evil.
Now, that sounds like a bad thing, and if it was done badly, it would have been, but this story was so charming, I was totally hooked!
There are no voice overs and the map is pretty, but useless. And being able to jump from location to location would have been handy.
There are way more HO scenes than I normally like, but all of the items are clear and easy to find and you know why you are doing them. I rattled through them without pause and had fun with them.
Unlike many games, you don't need to explore every tiny bit of the scene to check that you've got everything. This was more of a 'wave your cursor around and take a quick look'. Throughout the town there are people and places to interactive with, but they aren't available unless it's time for them to do so. So, although you might not be able to get into the smithy sometimes, you'll get in there when you need to.
I found the story really good and, although the art was in a cartoon-ish style, it was well done and fitted into the atmosphere.
The thing that makes this game different, is the choices you make. Throughout the game you are given decisions to make and your choice has consequences.
All in all, I really liked this game. It was quirky and different and I suggest you give it a try. You might just be surprised.
I recommend this game!
