I just stumbled upon this game and am so glad I did. This is NOT the same old same old HOG. The storyline had me hooked immediately, the voiceovers were excellent, graphics superb and puzzles were just the right difficulty for me. I've played between 250 and 300 BF games and this one is easily in my top ten. This game is so unique you'll just have to play the demo and see for yourself.
It's worth 4 stars just because of the coloring. I am sooo tired of the garish colors so popular with the devs these days. The moment I see those neon colors while I'm shopping for a game I just move on. It's spooky enough to have made me jump a couple times and some of the puzzles are difficult enough that I needed help from youtube. That's better than the the simple minded same old same old. The most refreshing thing about the plot was that there actually was one and it was neither tired nor predictable. Sort of short but it kept me interested all the way through. Most games by the mainstream devs bore me so badly that I start skipping puzzles just to get it over with. So if you're tired of haunted hotels and castles and unicorns and purple moonlight you just might enjoy this.
I really enjoyed this little game. Not real long but quite enjoyable. Though I may have only given it 4 stars if I'd had to pay full price for it. The storyline was better than most. It wasn't the same old tiresome good vs. evil fairytale. Most of the voiceovers were among the best I've encountered. The music was pleasant and not ridiculously ominous or heavy. The graphics were good, not superb but good. and the coloration was realistic instead of those awful neon purple and pinks and blues that I see so much of lately. The puzzles were interesting and the HO scenes had an unusual twist. No interactive map but things weren't terribly strung out and I navigated with the hint button. .
Just plain fun! More than just a match 3 with powerups. This one is designed in a way that lets you use your p ups to decorate the outside of your delightfully spooky old house. the graphics are colorful and crisp and the music did not make me crazy. I loved it and I know my grandkids will love it too. I feel it's only right to test games before allowing my g kids to play them. It's a dirty job...
I've played a lot of theses games but I've never played one like this. I was beginning to think I'd never find anything different from the usual ho hum but this one is unique from the music to the storyline to the voicing. (I am now a Xe Sands fan) Even though i found it a bit slow to load from one scene to the next, I still give it 5 stars because it's good points more than compensated. And because any backtracking was handled by a teleporting map, the game still had a nice flow. I own about 80 BF games and this may be my fave!
You REALLY have to like HO scenes to enjoy this game. Not only were they every scene or two, they were shadowy, the list of items to find was long, and the graphics were not sharp making the objects blend in with the scene and making it even harder to spot them. I felt it made the game drag badly and I gave up in frustration after 45 min of the demo. I do not recommend this game to anyone who wants more than endless HO scenes.
I don't recommend this game.

i played the Myst series when it first came out years ago and loved it then. At that time the graphics were cutting edge. They've stood up well. Myst and the other Ages are as beautiful as ever. One of my favorite things is how logical it all is. If I find a generator in a building I can go outside and follow the power lines to find what I'll be turning on when I hit the switch. The puzzles can be reasoned out. I've played about 70 or so Big Fish games and this is by far the best. I can't wait for Riven!
I've played several of these HOS/puzzle/adventure games and this may be my fav. Loved the boat ride. It was actually scary enough to make me jump a couple times. (Hmm. That may have been the coffee) The difficulty level was just right. Not hard enough to bog the game down but not so easy that I was cheated of a sense of accomplishment. I don't play these for the challenge, I play them for the fun and this one was.
