I generally have been fed up with most HOS games of late, but this featured a rather calm and relaxing sort of gameplay. The visual experience, was superb as far as the environment goes, it was like you were there, in the actual park. The HOS scenes were the same, however, they were visually challenging because the objects to find were either very small, or did not have much contrast to their surroundings, but the magnifying glass provided made that bearable. So keep on playing, walk through this lovely park, meet some ghosts, and find out why the park is haunted for yourself!
So glad I did not listen to the low star reviewers! Most of the criticisms are valid; repetitive dialog when questioning suspects, a lot of foot work when the timeline takes over and moves you to another location, and no working map to get you back to your last place in the investigation. I get all that, but the story line does keep you moving!
It definitely is a superb who-done-it, in the fine fashion of old school gaming that, you do want to walk all throughout the beautiful scenery and explore all the nooks and crannies. It was dark, but intricate in visual quality, I wish there were some Easter eggs to find, because the hotel and Island were fun to walk around in search of clues. Wish there would be more higher interactive games, like this one, on BigFish!
This is my kind of game, one with a first person point of view, where you become lead detective. Other reviewers reported on the slow pace of the game, but I call it an opportunity to be methodical and truly step into the shoes of a detective, not merely pointing and clicking a HOS, based on an irrelevant word list on the screen. Please bigfish, more games like this, Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew, that's where your grey cells really get a workout!
Quality, quality, quality. Challenging, but fun! Some of the challenges were difficult, but they definitely added to the gameplay. I was talking to the characters, I loved it so much. Longer game play with a great storyline.
There are not enough Nancy Drew games released for Mac. However if there were, I probably would not work or eat because the games consume all my thoughts, even when I am not playing! This one was superb, more, please!! Play and you will see...
Although the interface was the most challenging part of the game, such as pulling up inventory constantly to complete a task, every bit of it was worth it!! The game was so vivid and the tasks were so hard won, it was easy to become part of it, involved in the storyline, which is exactly why these games are played, I believe. It was long gameplay for me, and worth every penny, even without a trial!!
Everyone is frightened by the sights and sounds of something large stumbling through the darkness. Can you solve the mystery before the monster adds another chapter to this legend?
Unique interface and game play, but once I got the hang of it, I could not get enough!
There are no HOS in the game, which usually is a very big dislike for me, but not this game- I am so glad I gave it a try. It really is superb. I loved it!
I have downloaded all the ND games I can find for Mac now and would just like to say, "Please convert more from the pc format!!!"
