The whole werewolf thing was a cool concept, but the execution was a bit... not so cool.
OK, so, in the first two installments in the Shiver series (Vanishing Hitchhiker and Poltergeist), there was a great balance between actually seeing the villain/main monster/whatever was going in the plot in action and getting backstory about the villain in notes scattered around.
In this one, the villain had more backstory notes than actual physical appearances, so he felt more like a plot device than an actual villain.
It was way too short. I loved the abandoned asylum theme, but it would've been more fun to explore more areas and to have more character interactions. And the whole mystery bit needed to be fleshed out.
The only reason I bought the game was to see what happened to Christine and Viggo. One big part of why I never actually finished it was that it just kinda bored me. I honestly still like the Asylum Conspiracy game the best out of the series.
I loved the original game in the Phantasmat series, and, to be honest, after the second game in the series, I was expecting this one to be another dull rehash of the amazing first game. I was glad to be wrong. The plot was exciting, and as creepy as the original.
The voiceovers by Lani Minella were an added bonus, especially since she's reportedly leaving the Nancy Drew series.
I also loved the little hidden eyes, which were a cute reference to the hidden eyes in the original game's collector's edition.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
I honestly don't see how this game is so hated. It was really fun and creepy, especially the ghost in the schoolhouse. I honestly hope this one gets a "sequel," like some of the other games in the Mystery Case Files series.
But seeing as how it was the second game in the Phantasmat series, I noticed how similar to the first game. I'd played the first game so many times that this one was overly predictable.
I bought the full version, after liking the one-hour trial. The whole second half of the game, as well as the bonus level, were really bizarre. Also, I know Lani Minella is one of those voice actresses who's been in everything, but hearing her in a non-Nancy Drew setting really weirded me out.
I don't recommend this game.

I would have given this game a 5-star rating, if the ending would have answered more of my questions.
The only reason why I went ahead and paid for the full game is because I wanted to own the whole series. Not my best idea. I won't go into too many details about the poor graphics and the weird ending, since so many other reviews have. I will say that the music was OK, though.
