I only played the demo for a short time. I do not appreciate being called a "fragile female" by the first character we meet who looks to be some sort of mentor type and will not be playing further nor purchasing although the game otherwise looks very nice.
Played it again after 6 years and loved it still. It's quite simple in many ways compared to how HO games are now, but it still has a lot of charm and I'm kinda nostalgic about it. Out of all the games I have this one just stands out.
I'm a big fan of the show so I'm a bit biased, but I'm loving this! The graphics are neat, the story so far (I just started chapter 2) is very interesting and I especially love that you can choose between words OR silhouettes in the HOGs. More games should have that option, my daughter who doesn't read english yet could play far more games that way.
This game could have been perfect with two small changes:
After playing all the way through we should have unlocked the puzzles, so we could play them again and again. My 5 y.o. daughter loved the jigsaws and we had so much fun with them but the HOG's were a pain to get through. And we just can't do them again and still have our sanity. The items are tiny and impossible to find, not just for her but also for me and I'm a seasoned HOG'er.
...Which wouldn't be a problem if there were more hints. At least on the easiest level there should have been an unlimited amount or at least a timed hint system. But there are only 5 and we use them much to soon and can't get any more.
So it's a very charming game, the jigsaws are lovely, we loved the style of the artwork on them, and the mini games are sweet and fun as well but the items in the HOG's were tiny and it just wasn't fun to play that part which ruined the whole game.
After playing the trial for 5 minutes I just knew I had to have this and I'm glad I did because I had a lot of fun with it. The spells make it very different from others I've tried and I really liked those. Hidden object had a good level of difficulty, the objects to find fit the time period and atmosphere well and they had the right size, something that's always important to me.
