Honestly, I did enjoy playing this game. I played the beta, so I knew what to expect to a certain point. They did edit some various things in those parts prior to the game release, however, so it was like playing a new game!
The visual and sound quality is amazing in this game. I liked the story, even with the cliche "we want you to help find our friend, now let's stumble into a mystery/rescue her" situation. I thought it was a little too evident about certain... things... But I don't think it takes away from the game too much, if at all. The puzzles weren't too difficult, though I did have some issues with a couple hidden object scenes. Though that was quickly resolved, so I don't think it ruined anything.
The (SE) game ends with you saving them and arresting the bad guy, so it's a good ending.
(I'm just curious where the Head/Chief Ranger went after that last time we saw him... did he get captured? Did he escape somehow?)
I went into this game completely blind. I have played games in this series before, so I knew what would be expected of the player in the game. In the Redemption Cemetery series, you are normally trapped in a cemetery, helping the spirits of those who have passed away by preventable means or have suffered a tragedy. After you help them find peace, or change their fate, you can escape.
This game follows that, and the story is interesting. You take a taxi ride, and I'm guessing you were heading home before all of this started. All of a sudden, you and the taxi are attacked and you arrive at a strange cemetery. You narrowly escape the taxi before it goes over a cliff and into a "car graveyard". From there, you get your first look at part of the cemetery and what you may be up against later in the game.
As I said earlier, the story was...interesting. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't a fan of how they handled certain aspects. And I was not a fan of the last one, before the conclusion. The visuals and sound are good, though my sound seemed to be lagging a bit behind. The puzzles... I wasn't a fan of a majority of them. There were a few of the hidden object scenes where you had to find and match two objects, and that would have been fine, if I could tell on some of these what was part of it... I had a bit of trouble locating what could be moved. And when I tried placing something down in one part, it wouldn't let me, so I wasted a hint to show me where it wanted it. In one hidden object scene, I wanted to know how to find something (that was a two part), and it only showed me the one that I already knew about, but not how to solve it. The skip/hint feature can let you choose which you want to charge faster, or at the same speed.
The conclusion is a "twist", and I was a bit disappointed in that. But maybe that's just me? I also found something that was misspelled in the part trying to help the third spirit. "They're gone! Now to torn off that machine." The torn should have been turn, I believe.
Overall, it's a decent game, but I'm not wanting to go back and play through it anytime soon..
The first bit of the game shows a man walking, only to be attacked and presumably murdered (if the "hint" means anything...and he's a ghost...). Then we move forward to the opera. We meet Julia Belmont, who's performing in honor of her sister, Andrea, who committed suicide after her love was killed. Insert accidents and a death and we must investigate and learn the truth of what happened. We must set the spirit(s) free.
The praise I have for this game is that the visuals were lovely. The sounds was decent and the the hidden object scenes were/puzzles were simple enough. They even had a alternate method (a matching game) if you didn't want to complete the hidden object scenes, which was fun.
Complaints... the story was... well, it was okay. We soon learn that the spirit is the murdered love of Julia's deceased sister, Andrea. They insert a "somehow you are transported away from the "opera house" and to the former home of Mr. Belmont, the now deceased father of Andrea and Julia. We never see Julia again after helping her, before the teleport happens. We don't see her even at the end, though she's mentioned by Diego, the spirit, as he pledges about stuff. The game also states stuff like we already knew it, but we had not learned it prior to that. Diego? Who's Diego? Oh, that's the guy we saw get attacked earlier and was Andrea's love. Wait, Mr. Belmont sent Andrea away? When did we learn that? Not to mention that Diego goes nuts, even after he learns Julia isn't her sister, stating that if you don't find something for him in an hour, both you and Julia will die. He also wanted proof that Julia wasn't Andrea/that Andrea was also dead... and we found it, but never gave it to him...
Overall, I liked the game mostly for the visuals/sound and a bit of the story. If you're interested in this game, I suggest playing the demo first...
The game starts with "dark spirits" hunting for a grave, which happens to be for "Diva". Upon finding it, they dig it up and bring her back to life. Though the story doesn't end there. It turns out that Diva's singing has the power to drain the "life essence" out of you, and that this was the reason why she was banned from performing in life. As a spirit, however, she needs to find a body. And this is when someone sets their eyes on your friend. Now you have to save her and the rest of Diva's victims!
Insert tragic backstory with a twist. Discover the truth about the past and this mysterious man. You're given an amulet by a man who is also investigating Diva, and he's hidden the gems that power it throughout the city. I would have enjoyed that more if they didn't break every single time you used it, causing it to be useless until you found some more gems.
Diva's story is...sad... and I'm torn on how I feel about it. Still, as far as games in the Maestro series go, I did enjoy this one. If you're interested, I'd recommend trying the demo first before you buy.
Your daughter had been traveling, though stopped to ask a painter for art lessons. This may have been a mistake, as she disappears not long after. Once you arrive to find her, it's evident that something isn't right. There is something strange going on, and the clues are in the paintings. Discover the truth and save your daughter!
Now, to be fair, I did have a good suspicion on who the culprit was. I won't reveal the reason(s) why or who it is, but I felt that one suspect was a bit obvious... The daughter also leaves behind clues of her own that "paint a picture" of her time learning under this "famous" painter, who's art predicts the future tragedies.
The visuals and sounds/voices and more... all of it was wonderfully done in this game. While you're going around saving the day and searching for clues and your daughter, you get to experience the lovely locations.
This game is definitely a winner. Give the demo a try and see what you think. It's definitely worth the purchase.
Honestly, this has to be my favorite game in the series. It starts when your called in by the doctor of a town to discuss the truth about the recent/strange death of a beloved sculptor and his wife. You find the doctor dead and a suspicious individual escapes out the window. From there, you work to uncover the truth.
I have to admit that the feeling I had about one of the "suspects" was correct. Though the story didn't end there... learn more about the true culprit and motive behind these murders. Discover what really happened the night of the tragedy.
The visuals, the voices/sounds, the story... all of it is amazing. It kept me guessing until the very end. I had a lot of fun playing this game. It's definitely a winner. If you're a fan of mysteries, you may enjoy this game. Give it a try and see what you think.
Apparently it's our dream to ski at the Alps! Until we are "attacked" by an avalanche and sent plummeting into the game. What caused the last avalanche that devastated the town? Are there any survivors? It seems like there could be, as you meet a cast of 4 different people. They are a mix of helpful and well... turns out they're dead. Not that they believe it, so find them the proof they need to move on, so you can as well.
The end of this SE gives us a "The End?" after completing the game. That probably leads into the CE's bonus chapter, as we see something in the blizzard as we leave.
As Phantasmat games go, I did enjoy playing this. The story was enjoyable, and the visuals and sound were great. I loved the designs of the town and the people. It's kind of sad that it turned into a ghost town, but hey, natural disasters and other issues tend to lead to that sometimes, I guess...
A complaint I had was the "speed" in the game. I'd back up or go forward or whatever and it took a while to catch up and move me there. I don't know if that's just me or not, but hey, it's worth mentioning. There's also a lot of back-and-forth without a map/"teleport me there", so that may take some time. I also had times in the game where I kept clicking the "Menu" button by accident (it's on the top left) because I thought the "x" meant I could back out of a close up...
Overall, I did enjoy the game. If you're interested, I suggest that you try the demo and see if you would like to purchase the full game.
You are trying to locate your sister to inform her of the death of your father and settle things related to it. Your sister had run off years ago, for reasons they explain in the game. She started working for Dr. Corvine, along with others, to help with his experiment. No one expected what happened next.
In the spirit of not giving too much away, I will admit that I jumped a few times at the "scares" scattered throughout the game. I thought something in one case, and it turned out to be sort of true... and the game had me guessing on another until it tossed the truth at me. As I have just started playing Phantasmat games again just recently, I have to admit that I enjoyed every minute of it. They did a great job on this game.
If you enjoy a good mystery/horror game, then I think you will enjoy this. Can you uncover the secret(s) of Dr. Corvine and the truth of the experiment at this resort? Try the game and see what you think.
20 years ago, your mother took your younger sister away to try and find help to cure her. She promised they would return soon. They never did. And 20 years later, you receive a letter that may lead you to answers and the family you lost.
The visuals and sounds are wonderful in this game. The Haunted Hotel series is a favorite of mine, so I'm happy that the game did as well as it did. When you "sign in" at the hotel, it tells you to mark your fears (out of 3). I did, but I'm confused on whether it showed up in the hall/labyrinth and/or the first task. Or does that carry over to the CE's bonus chapter? The SE ends with everyone saved, so I wonder what the CE bonus chapter would add. (As always, happy to see James in the game!)
The entire game didn't take me long to complete, though I don't have an exact estimate of the time. Even though I completed it so soon, I had fun playing the game. It's definitely a winner! If you're interested, try it for yourself. You may just like what you find. It's certainly worth a purchase.
It starts out that, while showing Sam is unavailable for this (for some reason), that two agents were sent to check on the ruins of a palace belonging to King Mithridates. This king was one who had poison made so he could ingest it and gain an immunity to it. There's also a part relating to his "fate" later on that said he tried ingesting more poison later on to end his life, only he was immune, so he had a guard "do the job"... yeah, I could have done without that info...
Back into the game, we team up with a H.E.L.P. technician on her first time in the field. We find the missing agents, only to have the new girl save us and end up poisoned. From there it's a race to gather the ingredients (3 of 65) for the antidote. There had been a mention, prior to that, of the poison being added to the water supply and posing a lethal issue to the area, but it wasn't addressed again after we learned that we had to save the agents and the time frame was 2 days shorter than the original estimation. Hopefully they did something about it in the bonus chapter of the CE.
As a game, this one is very well made. It had stunning visuals and sound. I enjoyed learning more about facts related to the mission, as always, and the different locations were lovely. There was a part where I was like, "Agent, you're exhausted! Didn't you sleep on the ride over? Pull over before you crash!" but she kept going. Super Agent, right there...
The ending of this is just the curing of the agents, and a "I knew you could do it!" As stated above, hopefully the CE bonus chapter covered what happens after that. As for now, I have to admit that I enjoyed this game. It's another winner for this series! If your curious, give it a try. It's definitely worth the purchase.
