There are very few games out there that I have found to be most exciting the first time I played them, and then have the game be just as exciting as the second time i have played them. One of the other games that I can say this about, at least in my opinion, would have to be Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull.
Without giving too much away, one of the main reasons that I had so much fun playing this game for a second time is the fact that you can play the game two different ways. One way is where you actually bite and feed on some of the "victims" throughout the game, which gives you a certain outcome. Then you can play the game a second time, without biting and feeding on the "victims" and you get a slightly different outcome.
If anyone hasn't played this game as of yet, I cannot possibly suggest playing the 1 hour demo enough, cause you're missing out on so much! The puzzles and hidden object scenes have all be put together very well, with moderate difficult on the puzzles. Thankfully the hidden object scenes are also easy to distinguish what you need to complete each one.
The graphics are very clean and the music really adds to the atmosphere, the developers did a very good job on both fronts. There is also a conciderable amount of comedy relief courtesy of Igor, it doesn't distract or take away anything in the game, other than laughing at the absurdity of Igors sense of humor.
You also team up with your arch-nemesis, Van Helsing to help stop the Queen of Vampires who is out to destroy the world. A pretty simple and standard story plot, but it's the characters of Dracula, Igor and Van Helsing that made this game so enjoyable to me, and the second game ever that I played more than once. Give the game a download and try it and I know you'll come to enjoy the game just as much as I have! Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Nightmares from the Deep: The Siren's Call Collector's Edition
Face off against Davy Jones and his nightmares from the deep!
When I played the first game of this series, Nightmares of the Deep: The Cursed Heart C.E. I was floored by the graphics and animation and it instantly became one of my top 5 favorite games that Big Fish Games has offered.
Now with the release of this game, The Siren's Call C.E. I knew I had to purchase this game and boy am I glad that I did. I really love the iridescent colors that are portrayed which really add an errie quality, almost like in a dreamlike state. There's really some great haunting melodies that play throughout the game and in each scene as you progress through the game that added just the right touch to put the player in the right mindset and mood, I totally dig that!
Another feature I like about this game is the ability to jump around to each scene using the map, because I'm never a fan of any game that makes you have to back track to get to certain areas to complete the game, so kudos to the designers for adding this feature.
Also, as with most of the Collector Edition games lately, there are many achievements offered, which I've always loved because I find it to be much more fun than just solving puzzles and finding various objects through each of the HOS scenes.
So if you've played the first game and enjoyed it, then you will certainly enjoy this one as well! And if you happen to be new to this series, you don't necessarly HAVE to play the first game, Nightmares of the Deep: The Cursed Heart, but I do highly suggest getting that game as well because it is just as fun as this new addition, and you'll love just how beautiful these games really are.
The House of 1000 Doors series has been a favorite of mine and has never let me down with the previous releases: Family Secrets and the Palm of Zoroaster. With the addition of Serpent Flame, this series just keeps getting better and better, which I didn't think possible.
The graphics are, as my review title states, is absolutely stunning and gorgeous with its high definition clarity. Usually when I play a game I don't take all that much time to really enjoy looking over every inch of the particular scene that I am in, unless I'm looking for morphing objects or other hidden goodies for achievements. However, this game and a small handful of others, I really did enjoy taking my time to really take in all of the splendid, crystal clear graphics. House of 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame really is an exceptionally beautiful game. Another feature that made me enjoy this game is the beautiful and sometimes haunting music that really sets the tone for each scene and in particular the entire game. I have a 7.1 speaker system, so I am completely immersed in the sound and the composition of the graphics, sound effects and music allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the entire gaming experience.
The challenging nature of the hidden-object scenes, mini-games and puzzles were varying in difficulty as you progress. Which is something I always enjoy when the creators slowly build up the pressure, as well as throwing in a few quite challenging puzzles a little bit earlier in the game which really put my problem solving thought process in the right state of mind. Another feature that I enjoyed was the morphing objects that are in each scene, some being quite obvious and others, a little later in the game does take some time to find. But as I've stated previously, each scene is rendered so beautifully you won't find it being a chore to find them, at least that wasn't the case for me. Lastly, I am quite happy that the creators allow you to use a map to jump from one scene to the next without having to constantly travel back and forth which can be time consuming and a bit tedious at times. They also show you on the map where you whether or not a particular scene has any morphing objects or not, another nice feature if you want to complete your achievements.
I'm not going to dwell too much on the storyline, because let's face it, out of the hundreds and hundreds of games, they all have a "save the world" theme. But I did enjoy the giant serpents bursting from the bowels of the earth, because the animation is stunning in its beauty!
Well, there you have it folks. If you happened to enjoy the previous two House of 1000 Doors games, then you will NOT be disappointed with this one. If you happen to be new to the series, (which I would find shocking!) you can't go wrong with starting with this one and then playing the previous two. However, I would suggest playing them in sequence so you can fully understand the main character and the progression she goes through.
Give the demo a try and by the time the demo runs out, you'll be adding this to your cart and purchasing the entire game because it IS that amazing of a game. Good luck and enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart Collector's Edition
Dive into an epic journey as a museum owner in pursuit of an undead pirate who has kidnapped your daughter in Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart!
Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart is by far one of the most breathtaking and visually stunning games to be released here at Big Fish Games. The game play is superb and at times you almost get the feeling of watching a film in a movie theater. Excellent animation and high definition in just about everything really sucks you into the world of being on a haunted pirate ship!
All of the hidden object and puzzle parts of the game were designed really, really well. I found the hidden object a little bit too easy to find most of the time,(which I'm sure others will absolutely love!) it still had an easy flow that always transitions well. Much could be said about the mini-games and puzzles, very well designed and really fun to interact with, and also not being all that difficult either. All together, and with the exciting pirate ghost adventure story theme, it was all fun and easy to follow along. Not once did I feel disconnected from the easily immersible world that just sucks you in and holds your utter attention until you've finished the game.
An absolutely great game that everyone should have in their collection of HOPA games.
Although I did thoroughly enjoy Gothic Fiction: Dark Saga, I must admit a slight moment of disappointment. Usually I play the demo for whichever game I intend on buying, I foolishly didn't that this time and purchased the game right away after watching the little video demo.
Now what disappointed me was the fact that, even though the game advertises Gothic Fiction: Dark Saga as a HOPA game, there was absolutely no hidden object play in this game at all! Despite this fact, there are just a small amount of Puzzle/Adventure games out there that I have enjoyed playing, and I can happily add this game to the list.
The graphics were amazing with the greenish tint that seems to be the dominate color throughout the game. Thankfully the coloring was not used to the point of annoyance, it had just the right amount of balance.
Another aspect that I enjoyed was the music which was in tremendously high quality and really fit the game atmosphere quite well. The developers used some really nice quirky and fun music that kept the semi-dark story theme alive and much more animated, I really did enjoy that aspect of the game.
I would highly recommend everyone to at least try the game, even if you're a hardcore hidden object game junkie like myself. This is definitely a game I think everyone should enjoy, and since there aren't any sort of achievements in the Collector's Edition version, the Standard Version has the exact same insanely fun gaming experience!
Travel from the deepest trenches of the Atlantic Ocean to the awe-inspiring wonders of Mars as you solve the greatest archeological puzzle known to man: the origin of Atlantis.
Eternal Journey: New Atlantis has been added to my top 10 favorite and amazing games of all time.
Everything is top notch: from the graphics, sound effects, storyline and overall ease of navigating the game is truly something special that the developers who took their time to make sure this game is a masterpiece, or close enough to it.
It's truly difficult to find a unique storyline that hasn't been done a thousands times already, and although the basic premise is a sort of cookie cutter of a lot of other games. I believe it's the change of location that make this a little bit more unique, by the simple fact that you start off on Earth and then find yourself on Mars to complete your journey.
The one thing that I didn't particularly like is the fact that, although it's a Collectors Edition version, you really don't get much more out of it other than a strategy guide and the ability to collect small, hidden items that give you background information about lifeforms and histories of what has happened on Mars and what people have encountered while attempting to populate the planet.
When I purchase a Collectors Edition game, I want there to be achievements and the ability to collect more than just the items scattered throughout the game that gives you bits of information about what was and what is. I'm also pretty sure that others will share my point of view about this game lacking those particular aspects when it comes to a Collectors Edition game.
However, regardless of those facts I still think this was an absolutely beautiful game that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Even the bonus chapter had a pretty good length of time for you to complete it, and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete. I'm sure I could have finished it quicker, but I like to take my time and enjoy the environment that the developers created.
Try the demo if you're unsure whether to purchase it or wait for the Standard Edition to be released. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy it just enough to purchase it and have some fun with this awesome game.
Mystery Case Files 13th Skull, was in fact the very first game I downloaded, purchased and played from Big Fish Games, and I couldn't be happier with it! Another reason why I loved playing this game, was the fact that is sort of reminded me of some old puzzle style games called the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour. The latter two games came out years and years ago, and quite frankly the graphics were very basic, and the live action scenes were also poor, due to the limited graphics cards that were available at the time.
One of the key features which really drew me towards this game, was the fact it has live action people playing the parts of each character, which I absolutely love. Though a few of them look a bit uncomfortable with their acting, whether its because they are shy or just lack acting skills. However, there are only 2 characters I can say that about, everyone else were top notch!
Another great feature besides the live action actors, is the overall design of each room/place throughout the entire game. They put a lot of attention to detail and it's really remarkable to explore and see what other goodies have been hidden. The music was great as well, very high quality sound effects and music themes for individual areas.
As for the difficulty in the game, I would have to say that the puzzles were of moderate to quite a bit difficult. I try my best to avoid hitting the skip button or look in the strategy guide for help, however there were a few of them I flat out skipped because even the strategy guide wasn't very useful. Keep in mind that is only for a very small amount of the puzzles which I had difficulty with, and that doesn't necessarily mean others will have the same difficulty as I did, but I thought I'd throw it out there so my review can be complete as possible.
The hidden object scenes were all beautifully put together and weren't so convoluted that you cannot possibly make out what is what.
It seems from other reviews that people did not care for the storyline, I on the other hand loved it! Ghost pirates (or are they Pirate Ghosts, ha!) with a treasure map, all the while investigating the disappearance of the husband. Things get all twisted and turned on its head towards the end, however that is all I will say on the matter, cause I certainly don't want to spoil it for anyone!
I highly recommend at least giving the 1 hour demo a try so you can experience a truly fun and entertaining mystery with bits of humor here and there for some variety.
Before I begin my review, I just wanted to let it be known that I have been performing close-up magic and mentalism for about 14 years now. I've also been downloading and playing games here at Big Fish Games for about 5-6 months now, and I have never been as excited about a game as I have for this one, Midnight Mysteries: Haunted Houdini Deluxe.
This game is practically a Collector's Edition for the price of a standard game version. Which is not at all what I expected, but once I started playing, I noticed immediately that the strategy/walk through guide is exactly what you get with a collectors edition version, so that's another plus why I love this game so much.
Now, let's get into the review of this wonderful game, shall we?
The story line for this game is quite an interesting take on the death of Harry Houdini, which is well known to just about anybody who would care to look into it. But the fact that the creators put a murder mystery plot behind his death, is of course, the main driving force behind what you are trying to accomplish as you play a detective. The music is top notch in this game, and with enough variety that you don't become annoyed with the same looping piece of music.
The graphics and animation are another favorite of mine, smooth and crisp, along with some frightening animations that I won't go into detail about, you'll have to be surprised when they appear, and probably jump back in your chair the same way I did.
Since I mentioned that this game is virtually a Collectors Edition game, you are also given the task to find and collect little green clovers that are both hidden quite well, as well as a few which are easy to notice. There are 70 in total, but what you'll really want to focus on, besides having completed all accomplishments, but after you collect 40 of them, you then unlock a really cool feature, Unlimited Hidden Object mode. Which is also used to help you complete further achievements, not to mention it gives you A LOT of practice on how quickly you can find all of the hidden objects.
Well, there we have it folks, a truly fun and amazingly entertaining from beginning to end, a game that you will want to play more than once because it really is that much fun.
This Redemption Cemetery series has been one of the most fun games I have played in quite awhile. The story line is pretty straight forward, you are locked in a cemetery and the only way to escape is to help 3 people who have died, and you are their only hope for salvation.
This particular version was created very well with the sounds, voice actors and animation. The puzzles are not too difficult, but just enough to make it a challenge that is well worth the effort put into solving them.
I highly suggest giving the 60 minute sample a try, and before you know it, the time is up and you're ready to purchase the whole game so you can continue, which will always be fun and exciting.
