You're going to either love or hate these over-the-top characters. The gremlins make funny noises (reminded me of the aliens in Mars Attacks!) and the sorcerer guy says completely ridiculous things as he casts his spells and fights bad guys. I found it amusing, but could see why others found it intolerable.
It's different from other TM games in that you're not rebuilding a kingdom, which is a nice change. I also liked that getting the level done in time meant that I could modify my characters and have them look different in the game.
A few flaws kept the game from being 5-star worthy:
The storyline is boring and takes WAY too long to set up in the beginning.
The graphics aren't great.
Once you figure out a few strategies, the game loses it's challenge. Then you're just left with trying to beat the developers time. (a nice option, but not my cup of tea.)
I recommend this game!

This game takes everything you love about Royal Envoy 2 and expands on it. The game has been streamlined, but new features have been added at the same time.
The CE is worth every penny and then some. You get 30 (30!) bonus levels that are more puzzle-like than the time-management of the regular game. In both cases, though, you need to stop and think because sometimes the solution is tricky.
If you're looking for a casual, easy game, stay away. But if you want a challenge that's going to take you a long time to finish, this is the game for you.
I'm sure that when this game was released, it was worth the 5-star reviews, but now, well into 2014, it's dated and mediocre.
There are a lot of basic playability features that are missing, the graphics are poor, the mini-games are easy and the game-play is the same old stuff you've seen in a million HOPA games. Worst of all, the CE offers very little extra! There is a bonus chapter, strategy guide and concept art. No trophies to collect, extra mini-games or anything like that.
I liked the story though and found the gameplay to be engaging. I would recommend the SE version if it's on sale or you have a coupon or something.
I recommend this game!

Here's what happened with the reviews for this game: it got a flurry of 5-star raves, which resulted in a backlash of 1 and 2-star reviews. The backlash happened because this game isn't worthy of all raves, but neither does it deserve to be trashed. Giving something a 1-star review because "it was fine, but nothing great" isn't fair.
In my opinion, this is a solid 4-star game (I gave it 5 to offset some of the undeserved negative reviews.) The story is well-done and spooky. The music helps to set the mood. The game is long and there isn't a lot of running back-and-forth across the whole map (only a few scenes have active areas at any time). What I really liked was that there were a lot of mini puzzles. Many of them were ones I'd never seen before and some were really tricky (good thing there's a 'skip' button!) What I didn't like so much was that the HO scenes all involved finding an item, using it to get the next item and so on until I got my inventory item. That was great the first few times and then it got really old.
When a bolt of lightning sends you back to the days of King Arthur, you trade in your farmer's hat for a suit of armor and set off on a journey to find the Fountain of Youth!
Several reviews mentioned that this game was so easy, a preschooler could play it. Challenge accepted.
I bought this game for my four-year-old and was not disappointed. It's a simplified version of Roads of Rome or Royal Envoy that's suitable for younger players. There's nothing scary in it (there are skeletons and ogres, but they're more funny than scary.) My four-year-old can play it by himself, but frequently needs help understanding what to do, so we play it together and have a great time. It's a nice treat at the end of the day.
Other notes:
dialogue begins each level, which is annoying the graphics are fine (not bad, but not too impressive.) you can keep playing even if the clock runs out (nice!) the clock starts as soon as the dialogue ends (no time to plan your strategy before the first click.)
If you are an experienced player, this game will annoy you with its simplicity: 2.5 stars
As a family-friendly game or one to play when you just want to relax and not be overly-challenged: 4 stars
