I really enjoy the Moai games. It's rare for those of us who love these types of TM games to get new ones that often, so we have to rely on Royal Envoy and Moai for our fix.
All of this series has been a lot of fun, but this one is the best so far. They've fixed the problem the last ones had (especially the second one) where it's impossible to finish in time and get gold. Now, you can finish all of the levels in gold time - after a few attempts of course - and added to that, there are 15 bonus levels you can play once you've gotten enough gold stars.
The gameplay is the same idea as the last three. You build on islands, gather resources and complete the specific goals of each level. This time the pests are birds instead of ghosts and you get some food when you click them away, which can be handy. Instead of installing statues to get rid of the birds, you install scarecrows, which is cute.
You can earn bonuses and equip your character with artifacts that can give you more resources, help your workers move faster etc. Some artifacts can only be used for one level so you need to choose carefully.
The CE has extra levels and almost makes this two games for the price of one, so it's a good buy. Double the fun!
Just playing this once can give you lots and lots of time on the game if you aim to get every achievement. And of course, there's plenty to replay too.
Brilliant game. More like these please, developers!
I recommend this game!

This is one of the few HO games I've really not enjoyed. I bought the CE and didn't even play the bonus game because I was just so relieved to be done with the main story.
The storyline is... well, I'm not entirely sure what it is because I stopped trying to figure it out after a while. There's something called Harmonium and it can mess worlds up. It's gone awry and messing up a world you have to go into with a big silver glove to fight it.
The classic HO scenes are few and far between. Usually, everything turns purple and your glove pops out. This is your cue to click on your glove then find pairs of symbols or rearrange ropes in order to negate the harmonium before you can continue. This happens a lot, seemingly at least once in each location. It takes a while to even be able to click on the glove as everything goes inactive till you've sat and stared at all the purple lights for a while. In fact, everything goes inactive quite frequently. Even if you want to skip a cutscene, you still have to wait a while and everything is still inactive for a while once it's over. It got very frustrating.
Because of constantly having to negate the harmonium, there's no real chance to just enjoy your surroundings. I favour HO games in beautiful fantasy locations, which is why I picked this one, but I didn't get a chance to enjoy that part of it because it felt like every time I tried to soak up the atmosphere, here come the purple squiggles again.
Overall I found this confusing and unfocused. I think they tried to throw everything but the kitchen sink into this one and it could have really done with some streamlining.
I don't recommend this game.
