I only played the sample version for a few minutes. When I saw the name of the developer, it was a BUY and I am in no way disappointed.
It has a little of everything such as being able to choose level of difficulty, a map that transports you to locations, good graphics and voice overs, a balanced mixture of HO's, that are interactive, and fun games that don't make you pull your hair out, morphing objects, and parts of a bouquet to collect through out the game. The story line is good and keeps you involved. Have I missed anything? Hope not. Oh, the music is nice and doesn't annoy.
I guess I am giving a glowing report and am excited to do so. Hope this helps and that if you choose to buy, you will enjoy it as much as I have.
Others have already given details and their wonderful opinions; however I am compelled to voice mine.
I, too, love this series and was trilled with Raincliff's Phantoms. In fact, I ended up playing the whole game, today, even though this was not on the schedule. Once starting, it's hard to stop. I am unable to think of one negative.
Hope others will opt to purchase this game and that they will greatly enjoy playing.

I just finished this game and loved every minute. I think it is well worth the money. I played on the casual level.
Even though the games were not highly challenging, they were just plain fun. The map is excellent and I always appreciate when it allows you to be teleported to your next area of interest. Of course, you might decide not to use it or the hint button.
The length was long or, at least seemed so. I played off and on today in between running errands
Looking for collectables and being able to use them in a couple of ways, added to the enjoyment. Also, it had a good story line and I loved the way information was provided for each character as the game progressed.
The HO's were varied in that at times you had to look for objects, place objects in the scene, etc. The graphics I thought to be excellent. I have to admit that, on occasion, I could not find or place that one last object. Don't you hate that? Strickly my fault and I found myself switching to the alternative play (match 3, or place pieces into a puzzle). I had promised myself I would not resort to that. <g>.
I have not, yet, played the bonus chapter but am looking forward to doing so.
A higher level of challenge was given because you are allowed to change this level during the game and can adjust this at will.

I agree with the other posters who found this not to be very challenging, rather easy, and lacking in voice overs. However, I think it is a wonderful game for those individuals who are new to hidden objects games that especially carry a story/
The hint button works well, there is a transporter map, and helpful hints presented when you click on an item as it will inform you as to what you need to obtain the needed object.
The graphics are pretty good, HO's are interactive, and you are not penalized for clicking all over the place if need be. Games can be skipped.
I especially recommend this game to those who are just becoming familiar with games of this type.

I just finished playing this games and found it to be delightful. I will not go into specific details because others have already done so.
This game is a nice one, I believe for beginners and increasing higher skilled players. I am on the intermediate level and thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I suspect those who are below this level will find it fun and, in playing, will increase their overall ability and problem solving skills.
The hint button works well as does the transporter map.Games can be skipped if need be, and when playing for the second time, one might prefer to take time to figure out the solutions.

For a few days, I didn't have internet service: therefore, I was late playing this game. I absolutely agree with all the glowing reports!
While playing, I wanted to revisit some areas but received the message that the areas were closed. I don't remember this happening in other Dark Parables games. Was it just me? Anyway, I hope I do not need anything from those areas. ugh
In summary, you can't go wrong re purchasing this game. Love, love, love it and hope you do also if you buy it.
A murderous figure in a red mask haunts the streets of a small French town, and the mayor needs your help to track him down. But you soon discover that the mysterious Red Masque might not be the real criminal…
Because I have the other Edgar Allen Poe games, I bought this one right away. I've been playing about two hours and really want to keep moving along.
There are three modes of play: Casual, Advanced, and Hardcore. I'm using the casual mode.
The Strategy Guide is readily available so you do not have to go to the menu to access it. You have a Journal that containes notes and a map.
You will have a camera icon at the bottom of each scene and it is important to take a photo whenever you enter a new location. The scene will be added to your map which will transport you directly to locations.
There are many achievements to earn. At the start of the game, you will visit the detectives office. You will need to click all around this scene to become familiar with awards you can receive. It also has a section on the wall, that will mention your name and reference to other Poe games you have played.
The hint button, in the casual mode, works well, and will use an arrow to show you where to go next,
The HO's are colorful and interactive. Type of HO is varied, which is nice. I did not find it difficult to locate items but I have a large screen. I don't think you will have difficulty finding items.
The games, thus far, have not been difficult to play but are fun. They can be skipped.
You will, also, be using a scale, on occasion, to weigh things. It will help you at the end of the game to determine who is the REAL villan.
There are a lot of voice overs which are will done. They are skipable. However, when playing for the first time you might want to take the time to listen/read. It carries the story line forward in addition to informaing you of items you will need.
There is some movement back and forth between scenes; but, so far, items are used rather quickly.
I liked the features this Poe game had that were not included in the other ones.
I just completed the game. It took a while because I played it over a couple of days and, to be honest, I didn't want it to end.
There was no map but you really didn't need one. The hint button didn't tell you where to go; therefore, it was a good idea to remember where certain items might be needed. The Journal does help. For example, I picked up an item early on in the game but did not use it till very close to the finish.
The graphics were very nice, some interactive items in the HO's, and most things were not really hard to find.
The games were not too hard and could be skipped.
I enjoyed the story line.
I scored the level of challenge a little high because I did not keep close enough track where items were needed.
After reading a couple reviews, I decided to try the demo. I probably played about 20 minutes then decided to buy it.
The hint button functioned well. However, I rarely used it because the map was so helpful and transported you where ever you wanted or needed to go.
The games were not really difficult but fun and could be skipped if need be.
I liked receiving so many rewards; one being morphing objects. Also, when you finish the game, you can go back and work on receiving more rewards if you wanted to do so.
The HO's were interactive, colorful, and fun.
The voice overs were rather well done and I enjoyed the story line and the progression.
The game progressed smoothly and was a good length. I saved the bonus activities to play tomorrow.

I played the demo and am now down loading the complete game.. I have one other Empress games and it's a SE. When playing it, I did get stuck so was pleased this one had a SG which was easy to access.
The HO's were more challenging. Eventhough the graphics were gorgeous some were rather hazy at times. This did not bother me after playing a few and I enjoyed the hunt
I did use the SG as to where to go next, when more than one option was presented. I didn't want to get stuck again.
The music and voice overs were fine as was the story line.
