Step into the shoes of a Private investigator with short-term memory loss and uncover the shocking truth about his involvement with a serial killer called The Executioner.
I found this game to be boring bordering on annoying. If I didn't have a rule that I finish what I start I would have deleted it and moved on. There was an excess of HO games with small silhouettes. There were no challenging puzzles. The characters were dull and stock cutouts from 100 other games. The artwork was crude. The maniacal laugh of the villain at the end was the crowing touch of trite.
I completed the SE in under 1.5 hours.with no skipping and numerous breaks.......

I have all the Lauraville games. They are always a nice challenge to play.
They must have been rushed when they designed this entry. It is just boring. The levels are all easy to beat, the moves are all automated. They added a lot more Solitaire and Mah Jong levels,

A charming little match 3 game. There is a story line and characters who appear. The graphics are bright and clear. There are awards and challenges. Pretty much a basic match 3 game, not very difficult but still fun and relaxing.

I have every solitaire game by this developer. While there is really never a story in the games and the titles are a bit random but sometimes related to the images they are my go to relaxing games.
They can be quite challenging at the higher levels and provide hours of good old fashioned higher/lower playing fun.
While I usually play large file adventure, escape the room and challenging no hand holding games I do not expect every game to be challenging, innovative and different. Sometimes I prefer to enjoy an evening of relaxing gaming.
If you are expecting something amazing or different, this is not your game. If you want a good old meat loaf and mashed potatoes game this is fills the bill.

Finally played this game....
If you want hand holding, hints, skips and fairy tales this is not your game. Yes you actually have to think, reason, re-walk and retry to progress thru this game. It is an old school rare treat. The only reason the game may be bloody is if you make a wrong choice. It is awesome fun, lots of play and replay value. If there were more of these games I would buy more games. I am so tired of the princess and the ogre, the bad witch and the beautiful girl. missing parents. sisters etc. Give me more thinking games and I will be in a state of bliss...Thanks Big Fish!!

The standard version of this game was released 6/17.
That being said it is a fun game. The graphics are excellent. Nothing new in the story line but the Steampunk setting makes it interesting. Medium to easy difficulty. Voices and music not annoying. Overall a fun game not worth a Collectors Edition buy (the reason for my 3 stars) but in standard version a game to consider.
I have played every game in this series. They have ranged from fair to excellent. This is by far the weakest of the series.
This game makes no sense. The story has no continuity. The characters drop in and out with no reason for their actions. The mini-games and hidden object scenes are so easy they are a joke. The dialogue is silly and disjointed with little sense to the minimal story line. And the music and voices are annoying.
I must have been playing a different games than the 5 star reviewers because this game only rates one star because there are no minus stars.

I enjoyed the old school Mortimer Beckett games. This one is just a sad little mish mash of game styles and seems not sure exactly what genre of game it wants to be.. Not sure how it rated a CE designation and overall a visually pretty but rather boring, silly game.
I have played every MCF since Huntsville. Some I have replayed many times. Some were great, some good and some just okay.
This installment is by far the worst to date. I bought it without the trial. The reviewers raved about it. I guess the other reviewers are playing a different game.
The story line is boring, the pace is slow and the characters are uninteresting. The HO scenes are so easy the items might as well have big flashing lights on them.
The only thing I can say positive is the game has had no technical issues and the visuals are pleasing.
I keep playing hoping it will get better but so far it hasn't. I am so totally disappointed by this game. I have looked forward to the annual game for many years and this year I feel we have been given a big Thanksgiving turkey.
