The first House of a 1000 doors was one of my favourite games on this site, the second was fun, the third was somewhat diverting, but the forth has left me a bit confused.
To put it simply; the game is fun, but it seems to have the wrong title. It is nothing like any of the rest of the series, showing a different graphic style, using different models for the characters, different music for the score and even different gameplay. It has nothing of the "flavour" of House of 1000 doors, and yet...I did like it.
It is much easier than the other games, but it has unique minigames in it that I really did enjoy. It is almost childish in feel, - pretty, cartoonish and bright. It made me smile, and, once i got over my disappointment that it was nothing like House of 1000 Doors, I found it fun.
If you want another installment of House of 1000 Doors, you will be disappointed, but if you want a fun, silly game to while away the hours, give it a try.
I recommend this game!

contains no - HOGs, sparkles, hand-holding or indicators. a logical, thinking person's game.
a pure adventure game (thank you developers!) Facility 47 is eerie, intense, challenging and fun. CLICK ON EVERYTHING (there is no indicator for anything, so touch and try any and everything. up, down, and to either side.) there are hints if you need them, but logic should help you through. reminds me of games like Dark Fall - intelligent gaming with a distinct English flavour, and a whole lot of atmosphere.
if you like a challenge and feeling immersed in a game, give it a try.
I recommend this game!

i was disappointed with the "Key to Ravenhearst", but found that "Ravenhearst Unlocked" was much more fun. the developers have obviously listened to the fans, because they have made some fairly impressive changes..
unlike in Key, Unlocked has live actors - much like the second and third Ravenhearst games that were so popular. also back is the dry, macabre sense of humour and a very real sense of unease in the surroundings.
many people complained that Key didn't really "feel" like Ravenhearst, and i found that true, but Unlocked seems to have gone back to some of the things that gave those original MCF games their allure - eerie music, wonderful ambient sounds that really turn up the creep factor, and a constant sense of urgency.
i found myself pleasantly surprised, and was impressed with Eipix for listening so well to what the fans of MCF had to say. here's hoping for something even more in keeping with Return to Ravenhearst and Escape from Ravenhearst in the future.
I recommend this game!

glad to have played this newest installment of ND.
be warned - it will not hold your hand. there are no hints, skips or indicators.
you need to think logically to make any sense of what is happening.
the scenery is lovely - truly stunning, especially in the underworld. the characters are well done, and the voice acting, as usual, is pitch-perfect.
if you love a mental challenge, give this game a try. if not, def give it a miss.
I recommend this game!

the thing about the past Ravenhearst games was that they were entirely unique. they had their own feel - from the excellent voice acting, to the creepy music, to the crazy puzzles - it all came together to make something that you simply couldn't get anywhere else.
this game lacks that feel. it feels a lot like every other Eipix game, though with a sort of "Ravenhearst" flavour.
it's a fine game for a rainy day, but it really doesn't feel like MCF. the voice acting was hammy, the music was just off, and the storyline felt forced.
if you want mildly eerie fun, this game will suffice, but if you want MCF Ravenhearst, it will disappoint.
I don't recommend this game.

my all-time favourite game on Big Fish is "Brink of Consciousness, the Dorian Grey Syndrome". i have never found another that even came close to the feeling of that game - until now. "Urban Legends: The Maze" is so much like "Brink of Consciousness" that i had to love it.
with a mix of easy and more difficult mini puzzles, clear graphics and a great story-line, it is totally worth trying.
but be warned; it is a challenge - if you are looking for an easy solve, this is not for you. the good news is that it does have skip buttons if you just can't get past the puzzle.
there are lots of HOS, and they are fairly well done - not too cluttered and often seem to fit right into the environment.
if you have been pinning for Dorian Grey - you will love The Maze.
I recommend this game!

there aren't enough games like this, IMO. it doesn't hold your hand, it requires thought and has a story line that makes you want more. many HOS throughout, but they were incorporated in the gameplay so that it felt logical - no wondering why you are sifting through a junk pile in the middle of an adventure. several levels to play on, and many achievements made it fun - and a hint system helps when you get stuck. would love to play the next one.
I recommend this game!

I have come to love Nancy Drew games, but this one has left me angry and wishing I had saved my money. There is a very irritating mini game within it which has made advancing impossible. I play on senior detective because it is more challenging, but in the Monkey Game (no spoilers) the AI throws so quickly that it is impossible to beat. They have tried to make the game more challenging for the adult player by speeding up the competitor's throw, but in truth they just created a reason to stop playing - and I HATE to give up. I usually try until I manage to solve the puzzle or beat the game, but in this case it is pointless. After hours of attempting to beat it, I realized that the competitor monkey throws BEFORE the targets are even up - which is essentially cheating, because the human player can't know which target will spring up - there are just too many of them. I have found it necessary to go back to the beginning and play the game over as a junior just to be able to complete it. It's ludicrous to make the game that difficult - essentially it forces the player to win by pure accident, and it just destroys the fun.
There are truly entertaining aspects to the game, and it is absolutely beautiful, but with the Monkey Game right in the middle of the story, one simply cannot continue on without beating it. After hours of failure due to an impossible task, one doesn't really WANT to go on. I wish I had believed the other reviewers when they mentioned this flaw - I play at the advanced level, and so assumed I could deal with it, but nope, it ruined the whole experience for me. I would suggest giving this a pass - it is not worth the money or frustration.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is not the sequel to Dire Grove that I was imagining - it is more a Mystery Trackers type game than an MCF game. It's well done, and fun - fairly easy, with a few complicated games thrown in - but just doesn't feel like Dire Grove. If you like Mystery Trackers, give it a try. If you are hoping for a return to Dire Grove, know that they use the setting but not the style, and they have changed the format; this is almost all adventure type stuff, with only a few HO scenes in it. While I am enjoying the game, I can't help but feel a little bit let down, because I was hoping for more MCF type play. They don't use live actors (a pity IMO) but the voice-overs are well done, and the style is pretty. Overall, a bit of a disappointment in terms of wishing to revisit Dire Grove, but a decent game to while away the Christmas hours.
I recommend this game!

this was just plain fun, and it was gorgeous too. many people complain that it was too hard - but it comes with a guide!
i really like the whole story line, and it seemed new to me - your life is linked to that of a dying princess, so if she dies, you do too! you must find out all sorts of history along the way, and YES you have to think about what to do next. it isn't just a doddle - it's a thinking person's game. but if you get stuck, the guide is right there! good voice acting, truly beautiful graphics, and hey, you get to ride on a flying tiger! lots of fun this one! can't hurt to give it a try.
I recommend this game!
