This game is very different from most BFG games and although there are hints and goals along the way it takes a lot of input from the player to figure out the next move. You have to be engaged and look closely at everything.
The game is more about solving given tasks than anything else.
I thought the graphics were quite good and clear and navigation was easy. Nothing ever seemed obscure. The movement is within a 3D environment.
I thought it was rather more difficult that most games. I found it very rewarding when I figured things out and encourage players to be patient and keep trying if they find the initial minutes very difficult.

My review is based on an hour of trial play. Try it, you'll like it!!! I was immediately drawn into the game. The graphics are crisp and interesting. Sometimes it seemed that there was a lot to do in each scene but it came together as you went along. The wizard is very Gandolph like. I have to agree that the story line was nothing new except at least the mom was needed and not the child kidnapped. But this is a complaint I have of many of the new games. I am overlooking it on this one sine the rest of it is so much fun. I had to stop myself from playing since I knew I would buy it and do not like to have to reorient myself to the game to any great extent.
Review based on 60 minute try out. I really liked the game. The graphics were very clear, the location was interesting. The music was fine, suited the story but was a little repetitious. Not too many HO scenes. My only real criticism was that the storyline was nothing new or even a little different from previous ones That's why it's getting a 4. But we seem to be seeing a lot of that lately. Of course in their defense I must say there are only so many stories out there. I recommend you try it. I enjoyed the time I spent and will likely purchase it.
When I saw this was available I was delighted and thought it would be a truly fun game that I was looking forward to. On the good side the graphics were crisp and fun. The repetitive music was so annoying I had to turn it off. This is why I gave the visual/sound a low rating. Also I was really wanting voice overs with all these great characters.
I am not a fan of HOGS and I felt that every time the action started to go somewhere a HOG was thrown in which actually impeded the game. The HOGS were rather cluttered and a little hard to sort out. Some of the objects were very tiny(bad) and some very cleverly hidden in plain view(good). It was sort of disappointing to spend quite a bit of time and get half hedge cutter or scissors or whatever.
I think it might be a good game for family play since the puzzles are not too hard and the characters child friendly.
I really wish the developers would redo the game and then issue a CE edition with everything upgraded.
The expedition continues... Track down the fragments of King Solomon's crown and foil a madman's plot in this exciting follow-up to the bestselling series!
I started out planning to just do 15 minutes to see if I like the game as much as the Smithsonian one which I loved. Wow this is great. It has the same sort of fast pace that Smithsonian had and even better graphics. I had to force myself to stop after an hour so that I would have something to play later. This is really a wonderful game.
A strange and deadly pollen is spreading around the world, and you’ve been hired to track down its source. But the secrets you discover in the fabled kingdom of Floralia are much darker than you imagined...
First let me say that I have purchased and played all the Parables games except Briar Rose which constantly crashed after a certain point and enjoyed them all. Also I am not a huge fan of HO games. A few are fine but they become boring to me if there are too many. This review is based on the trial.
I was happy to see a new Parables game and although I planned to purchase it I thought I would just try a little to see what it was like. After about 30 minutes what seemed like the millionth ho game came up and I just sighed and exited. After reading some great reviews (and not so great) I decided to try again. There were not as many ho games in the next part so it was better but....yes, the graphics are fuzzy and the scenes are all way too crowded and not well organized and frequently it is difficult to see what some things really are until you click on them. I think there are 90 minutes of play and I have yet to finish 60. Usually I run right through the first hour of a game I like.I won't finish the trial.
All in all I think most people will be ok with this game but I did find it a little boring and did not enjoy it like I did the earlier ones.
Violett is reluctant to move to the dreary countryside. But when a strange light lures her to into a world of magic, she may never find herself bored again!
I also have to put in my 2 cents because of the negative reviews. I did the hour long demo and found the game to be great fun and more challenging than you would expect. The graphics are of a genre and if you don't like the genre you won't like the graphics. I thought they were well done and very funny. I don't think the game is for kids even though the graphics might seem that way I saw complaints about lack of help. Well, those big fingers pointing up and down and sideways are constantly there and there is a hint button that gives good info. The characters have thought balloons that give clues. Also there are walkthroughs already online. I had to use some hints to just get going in the game. I think there is a loose storyline but each scene is a puzzle unto itself as far as I can tell. This does not bother me one way or the other since the game is so much fun. Just have fun and enjoy the ride.
I played only the demo and found the game to be a hoot. All of the old fairy tale characters are rather strange and demented and while I like that twist I doubt if it would be great for young kids. One of the puzzles when getting 3 blind mice all to the door left a huge smile on my face.
This is not a particularly difficult or even innovative game but is a welcome relief from some of the other really dark genres. I prefer very crisp graphics and these were a little more like book illustrations but still easy to see and enjoyable. I played on the casual setting and think most people will want to raise it a notch unless you just want to relax and play.
The demo was ce and I don't know if it warrants that cost so I will probably wail until the regular edition comes out to purchase it. But I am looking forward to playing it again.
