The story line has been covered by other reviews, so I won't go into it deeply, but I have to say it was captivating and kept me playing because I had to know how it ended! And I wasn't disappointed!
All of the extras that go along with the CE version, the collectibles and morphs, weren't easy to find. In fact I have to play again just to try and find all of the ones I missed ... which was a lot and I truly looked hard at every scene!
The actual game length was good, but I thought the bonus chapter was rather short. I liked most of the puzzles and hops and didn't skip them but I did have to peek at the strategy guide a couple of times to figure out what I was supposed to do.
Another thing that surprised me was the music! I actually let it play the entire game and I almost always turn it off within the first 5 minutes. The music wasn't repetitious in a way that gets annoying, and flowed along with the scene action nicely!
You're going to want to own this one!
I recommend this game!

Elizabeth Bathory, the Blood Countess, has been described as the most vicious female serial killer in all recorded history and she would later be used as one of the primary inspirations for Bram Stoker’s Dracula... a perfect character for a Vampire Legends story!
The Vampire Legends version of her story is suspenseful, bloody but not gory, and injects a plot twist that carries the storytelling and game play along very nicely.
I just finished playing the SE version that I started yesterday, and I actually had to stop for the night and sleep. Today I played awhile after lunch, got tired so I took a nap, and then came back to finally complete it just before starting dinner ... it's that long of a game! You think you're about at the end, and then there's another twist and more scenes need explored and solved!
The psychic vision part did get tedious with the repetitious "put the picture together" puzzle that you are presented with each time the Gypsy "Finder" has one, but overall the assortment of HOS and puzzles was a good mix and not all that difficult to figure out.
I liked the Gypsy-as-herbalist aspect, it contributed to the game without being horrendously tedious in what had to be gathered to create and make potions. Note: if you can't find her wagon to mix potions in at the beginning of the game... look under the hint area, bottom right.
I did use the hint a few times when I couldn't figure out where something was or just didn't see an item, but for the most part it was easy to follow along on where to use different inventory items. The character list was short, so that removed a lot of complexity of keeping track of who's who.
The interactive map helped a lot in figuring out where to go next. I also liked that I didn't have to fix every inventory item in order to use it, and most locations gave you more than just one item towards what you'd be needing to continue the game play.
I loved the graphics, and the HOS had items that were very on point for the time period. I always appreciate it when a developer pays that sort of attention to detail.
I do recommend the game, and I will play this one more than once. I have yet to check out others in the same series, but maybe next time our Gypsy "Finder" could have an animal "familiar" as a helper!
I recommend this game!

If you loved the "Mists of Avalon" books, then I think you'll totally enjoy this game. It's not about King Arthur but you do get to sail to the hidden Island of Avalon and watch the mist part on your way to becoming a very powerful present day Druidress!
The story was very engaging and the pace of the puzzles and clues kept you moving. Most everything you find or make gets used pretty quickly, so you aren't scrolling through a ton of inventory trying to remember what area needs this item or that one.
Only real annoyance was not being able to switch maps. You only have options for the area you're in, so if you need to go back or forwards a good distance you'd have to travel near that area before getting another map.
The puzzles and hops had just enough of a challenge that I only skipped a couple that were a type I really don't want to spend time doing. (I'm not a fan of rotating 5 circles that have a bunch of mis-matched sections and trying to make up 5 new images or complete a color pattern.)
Many of the hops did use the shadow style, and while they did take some time, they weren't really all that difficult, you just have to be patient and look closely. There's nothing that is trying to trick or deceive you per se.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the SE had some of the features you usually only get with a CE. There are a couple of items that you can collect through out the game. They don't morph, but you do have to remember to look closely at every scene, including the item popups, to find the mosaic pieces you'll need near the end of the game.
I do hope to see more Graven stories, and our newly empowered Druidress in the near future!
I recommend this game!

This is the third game of the series that I've played so far and I've enjoyed both Wild Hunt and Memento Mori as they have presented Death as a persona that I found myself really wanting to champion.
Overall this one was fun, but very short IMHO. It could easily have contained a couple more locations and situations to send our good Detective to before presenting the finale.
The graphics and voice overs are well done, and I appreciated that the mini-games and puzzles weren't crazy hard. I admit to skipping a couple of them simply because I don't like spending a lot of time trying to flip pieces of pictures around with arrows or dials to complete an image.
I did appreciate that the Hidden Objects were spot on for the time period, and I didn't have to find even one horseshoe! LOL
This is a perfect game to use those freebie coupons on, and have an enjoyable and relaxing couple of hours of playtime.
I recommend this game!
