I usually love this type of game, but this one kinda fell flat for me. The graphics were good. The video segments often froze, though, so I didn't get to see the "scary scenes" every time. The times that I did get to see the whole scene, well, they really weren't all that scary, as some of the reviews led me to believe. The storyline was alright, but as others have stated, this definitely should have been a Collector's Edition game, as so much is left unsaid at the end. I actually found myself getting bored, while playing this one, which hasn't happened to me before. Would I recommend it? It's alright, if you're getting it as a two-for-one deal and this one is free. I wouldn't pay for it, though, and probably won't play it again. It's pretty dull.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is the only one out of the series that doesn't quite have the same feel to it. This one is about a serial killer and everything is quite a bit heavier and darker. It's not necessarily a feel-good kind of game, given the heavy tone of the story, but it is still fun to play and the ending is great! This one is more interesting and serious, than fun, really. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys heavier murder mystery games, with no added gore or spiritism.
I recommend this game!

This game is so much fun to play - I've probably played it 10 times by now! The graphics, the sound effects, the voices, everything is top notch and the story is really good! This one is by far the best of the series.
I recommend this game!

I would recommend only buying the regular version and not bothering with the Collector's Edition. It is a waste of money, if you're hoping for a game where you win at the end. The regular game ends well and is worth the money. However, if you buy the Collector's Edition just to play the bonus chapter, be prepared to lose the game because there's no alternative! Anyone hoping to find out who the villian is, what his motives are, his background, or even to see him unmasked, will be disappointed because none of that is revealed at any point in the game. After playing the main game and not learning anything I wanted to know, I assumed it would be revealed in the bonus chapter, as is often the case, but nope! Instead, you get the unsatisfactory conclusion of losing. I won't give the ending entirely away, but I wish someone had warned me before I bought this edition, that it wasn't worth the money. Who wants to play a long game, only to be given no choice but to lose at the end?! This edition is a waste of time and money, and ends up just being irritating.
I don't recommend this game.

Having loved the other Sherlock Holmes games, I thought this one would be good too. First of all, be warned that you will have to perform gruesome scenes that may turn your stomach! Holmes pretends to commit one murder on Watson, to see how the killer did it to his victim. In another scene, you have to use different knives on pig's heads, to see what type of knife the killer uses - complete with sound effects and blood! I have had to stop playing more than once out of either frustration, because they didn't provide any details on how to solve the puzzles and I've gotten sick of having to use a walkthrough just to figure out how to start the puzzle, or because I was thorough sickened by whatever action I had to perform as Holmes. This game is disgusting and there really should be a warning before you buy it! I have stopped playing it and I don't care how it ends. If you do decide to go ahead and play this game, don't allow children around to either hear the conversations or to see the mutilated bodies of the women - they are disturbing. And prepare to consult a walkthrough for the entire irritating game.
I don't recommend this game.
