I didn't care for much about this game, but much of my dislike can be attributed to a difference of taste.
I don't much care for fantasy games which seem a bit silly and this one seemed that way to me. For instance, when the main character finds her sister tied up with a magic glowing rope by an evil character it's the standard bad guy ties up good girl who is helpless thing. Once the sister is tossed into another world and the bad guy runs off without doing anything to the main character (of course) we then find the usual character in these games: that of the bad guy's enemy who is a prisoner but gives our main character some item which helps them including a story about how bad the guy is.
I didn't care for the art work, but that's just my opinion. I like my games to be a bit dark but here it was brightly lit and even the skeletons didn't give much creep factor.
All of this can be forgiven if the mini games are interesting, but they weren't and it seemed as if the creators just piled in all sorts of games without any real reasons.
I also found the graphics to be of poor quality with obvious things you need to pick up in a scene standing out from the rest of the objects and moving parts very blatantly added to an environment which doesn't match the colors or lighting.
Basically I thought the game wasn't frightening enough for me and the game play seemed too linear. However, I can see how others would like games such as this which aren't so dark and do enjoy the story.
I don't recommend this game.

I love MCF. But this one is not worth the money. Just boring, no personality, not much to see of the "evil" character, the mini games are not much fun. I wish we had more of the quality of the early Ravenhearst mysteries.
I don't recommend this game.

Mortimer's homebound journey continues in Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King, the thrilling new chapter from the much beloved and award-winning hidden object series!

First the good stuff. This game is unusual, challenging, amazing. I love searching for things, looking for clues, going from place to place with lots of cool puzzles. It's amazing!
BUT. I very rarely can get past one particular puzzle and there are others which take a great deal of time and work.
They aren't fair. The hardest is a puzzle in which two aces have to be found in fifty cards or more which are laid out in a rectangle. Then in the space of about a second or two they flip over like dominoes beginning at the top. And they flip back over as soon as they have revealed themselves for a microsecond. It's like a wave. You can hardly follow the cards as they flip much less register what they were. It is horrific and so frustrating. I think the creators of the game should either slow it down just a tad or have an option to have the cards move just a bit slower. There is no way to make it easier. One player said she put her finger on the screen when she saw the first one, but I would try to move my finger to mark the spot and the cards were done flipping. And my finger was poised right over the screen!
The other challenges were the lit patterns which have to be copied. It is no exaggeration to say they make 8 movements in about a second or a second and a half. I can see the beginning 3, then if I'm lucky the last 2 or three. For the remaining 2 or 3 I am forced to guess.
It's not right to have these sorts of puzzles. No amount of intelligence or practice can help. I have rather poor eyesight and to say it's frustrating doesn't really express it.
In conclusion, I can't possibly recommend not to purchase this game. It's wonderful, and unique and so fun!!! But be prepared for the puzzles I mentioned.

I loved it! It has morphing and collectible items, which I love, and for once the cursor helped me find them. Everything made sense, weren't too many cut scenes (which can get old) and the story was solid. The mini games were different from the usual, which was great, and they were just the right challenge level for me. Pretty art work and the voice actors were very good. I can't stand when the actors are not talented -- takes away from the immersion. I would definately recommend this game for all ages and skill levels.
I recommend this game!

I don't ordinarily write a review, but this game was so outstanding I just had to. Every part of this game was spot on. I tend to get tired of HO scenes, but each was a game in itself with puzzles and amazing interplay. This is the only series which has a story line I enjoy and care to follow. Each game in the series can be played alone, but to get the most out of it, it's best to play them all. I love that when you have finished the game you can replay the HO's and the puzzles. Now that is bang for your buck!
I recommend this game!
