This game is certainly friendly for American users. No off-putting and difficult to understand Scots accents here - every character is American. Loch Ness is called "Lake Loch Ness" although a Scot would never say this as Loch means Lake! A US fire hydrant at the quayside and a left-hand drive car will also ensure Americans feel right at home. That's why I rated it "excellent" for fun factor - I never stopped laughing.
I recommend this game!

Back in jolly old England and us dim-witted Brits need the help of an American. And we try very hard to please her. We change all our cars and even our Police vans to left-hand drive, invent a new new police rank: "Junior Inspector" and use US spellings for our police reports. Of course we have got aristocracy, baddies of course if they have an English accent but wronged goodies with an American accent. If you can put up with all this nonsense the game is OK.

If your not a Brit you may not notice the dreadful, inauthentic language, the ridiculous mistakes - like a Mississippi steamboat travelling down a English river, candy canes and pretzels on a Victorian Christmas tree. Compliments also go to Dick Van (he starred in Mary Poppins but cannot put in his surname because it is inappropriate language - computers eh) for his voice coaching - the accents are so authentic. The shadow plays are a novel idea but so dull.
I don't recommend this game.

Gobbledegook in the story I can cope with but not poor explanations of games - especially when they are unfamiliar and complex.
I don't recommend this game.

Nothing much to do with Dickens' story. American accents, ridiculous blunders - an airmail envelope in an 1843 story, wildly inaccurate settings and anachronistic language make this one to miss.
I don't recommend this game.

This game has a different format, lots of small sections which many will enjoy. Each section has an HOS and a game. But the "history" is at times ludicrous. In the UK we are used to people getting our history wrong - Hollywood does it all the time but 1066 for the Vikings. 1066 is the single most important date in English history - the date of the NORMAN invasion - not the Vikings. And Robin Hood in 1572! If there was any such person he would have been around 300 years earlier. And what about the pirate using papyrus in 1572. Rubbish. Who wrote this?
I don't recommend this game.

There is lots to like about this game - plenty of hidden objects, some new ideas for challenges and even a chance to use clues to actually solve the murder. However if you have read the book or seen the TV play you will know who did it.
As usual a host of visual inaccuracies that will grate on a UK audience. The worst by far is the rolling stock at Paddington, defiantly not British. The pleasant seaside town of Eastbourne has been moved 50 miles inland. Amongst the others are a snooker ball masquerading as a billiard ball and "greasepaint" which seems to be a set of coloured bottles. If you can put up with these lazy mistakes you might like it.
