I tried this game because it was included as Best of 2024. Maybe it's just that I have different expectations and I do enjoy Match-3, but this didn't appeal to me at all. I have all the Spellarium, Laruaville, Cursed House collections and play them over and over. They are graphically suburb, colorful, fun, not over the top challenging and not boring. I honestly do not see how this was chosen as the best Match-3 of 2024.
I have ALL the Laruaville, Spelllarium, Cursed House series. I wonder if these 'magnificent' ratings were paid for. This game is boring and that's being kind. Nothing fun about this game. Not challenging, lame storyline, and the scene is so lacking in creativity compared to other Elephant releases. Very disappointed..going back to replay the others.
I own all the Laruaville series and play them over and over...it's my favorite. This one, however, is disappointing. Each Laruaville has a slightly different twist in deciphering how to create and use the powerups. This game is not impossible to figure out, but it takes so long to long to get past each level that it just becomes boring. Even with the game guide, it's just plain guesswork trying to figure out how to create and use the powerups. I will give this a 3 simply because I love the series, but I won't play this one again.
Might be because this is not a new game, the graphics are unclear and characters are rather juvenile. But, the most annoying feature of this game is a popup character appears to collect each found item...so if you can imagine, click on a discovered item, then a popup appears to collect it...each and every item. Seriously annoying and interrupts the flow of play.
I'm rather new to story-based HO games, and for the most part enjoyed the Rite of Passage series from MadHead. The one complaint I have about most of their games is the lack of clarity on the mini-games, but this game was the worst. I ended up skipping through most of them. The story line was all over the place..I'm still scratching my head over the old lady missing her glasses..uh? And why so many dead? I will say the graphics are nice, and as usual, MadHead does a nice job on background...very imaginative, like a place I'd like to live...well, just not near the ocean!
