Very pretty game visually, very cartoonish though.
THE DIALOG AND CUTSCENES killed it for me. I might have enjoyed the game more without all of that.
Not so much a hidden object game as a puzzle variety game as there were all types, the majority of which was hidden object.
All in all, for me it was very boring. I currently do not plan on buying it.
I don't recommend this game.

Seriously after 15 minutes I uninstalled it because everything about it made me yawn. The HOG scenes, the dialog (which I could not seem to stop), the match 3 part of the game - nothing held my interest. While it may be a good idea in theory to combine adventure, match 3, and hidden object - and some games have done so successfully - this game managed to make all three painfully boring and actually made completing the trial seem like a job, not fun at all.
None of it was especially difficult or challenging, which may be part of the problem. The graphics were pretty enough but not awe inspiring. The story was The match 3 game had no "hook" no goal that I could see beyond clearing the board.
I won't say I hated it but I would not choose to play it and definitely will not buy it.
I don't recommend this game.

HO scenes were ok - a little bit junkpile-y, pretty dark.
Cut scenes were too long, too wordy, the vocal acting left something to be desired. I would rather discover the story than have it read out loud to me.
Puzzles were varied and challenging, nice bit of interest there.
Overall, I am sure some people will love this game, but I unistalled it after completing the demo. Maybe a $2.99 buy, but as it is right now, no thanks.
I don't recommend this game.

First the positives:
1. The game was nice and long, so there's your money's worth, if the length is important to you. I bought it a week ago and just now finished.
2. There was a good variety of puzzles, beyond the HOS portions.
3. The HOS often required an item from inventory to complete - that may not be a positive for some people but to me it made the hidden object gameplay more interactive and less junkpile.
4. The hidden objects did not contain anachronistic items in the searches - historical inaccuracies bug me.
And the negatives:
1. The art was so-so, making the HOS sometimes a problem. Sometimes a syringe didn't look like a syringe.
2. The load up between scenes would sometimes black out completely and I could not go forward or back, but had to back out of the game and come back in - come to think of it, maybe that's why it took a week for me to finish.
3. The HINT button, even on the easiest setting, took FOR...EV...ER... to reload. And the hints were worse than useless. For instance, on one screen, if I was puzzled about where to go next, the hint would indicate an action THAT WAS UNAVAILABLE UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME. Or it would highlight an area with a note "Nothing to see here". Completely useless. Oh, and I had to use the walkthrough a lot more than I would like because the next action made absolutely no logical sense.
4. I hate voiceovers - you could click through them but the acting in most voiceovers makes me crazy.
5. The story was actually a little boring. I bought the game thinking that the story had potential but it put me to sleep - literally. I fell asleep several times while playing and had to quit. A good story will keep me engaged even if I'm exhausted.
So some people may enjoy this game but I had to force myself to complete the game in order to give it a fair review.
I don't recommend this game.

Other people have commented that this is yet another creepy carnival game, and it is, so if you like creepy carnivals with multiple hidden object type games, this may be fun for you. I had a good time with it, but it's not my favorite.
Some of the things I liked about it were the mix up of Fragmented Hidden Object scenes (I think those were only in the first chapter - I would have liked to have seen more in subsequent chapters) and standard Hidden Object scenes. There were alsosome new twists on old puzzle type that heightened the interest level for me.
A few people don't seem t like the adventure aspect of the game where you have to go back to a previous played scene to get another item or play another HOS. I don't mind it, I like the fact that I have to think about "Ok where have a seen a spider that can build a web?" then I need that. Keeps me on my toes. However, a map would have been nice. I thought when I demoed the Collector's Edition there was a map but maybe not. Maybe I just missed it this time. But a map or an "Area Cleared" sign would have been nice, but not absolutely necessary.
I hate voice overs so I was happy here - no voice overs. I hate people reading out loud to me.
I had to skip four puzzles I think (yay skip button!). For all but one of those, it was my lack of patience with my lack of skill that caused me to hit the skip. Rotating puzzles frustrate me no end, and two of those puzzles I know were rotating puzzles.
The last puzzle I skipped - no excuse there. PLEASE developers, if you are going to use a music puzzle, please AT LEAST keep the music consistent. The one music puzzle was all over the place. At least it was masquerading as a music puzzle - a piano and "music notes" in the shapes of cartwheeling stick people. However, the music didn't match the notes, the tones didn't even match themselves when you matched the picture. I finally turned the sound off and tried it, but after five frustrating attempts to play a piano without hearing it, I folded.
The graphics were OK, not great, occasionally a bit dark and fuzzy, making HOS more difficult than they needed to be.
The end of the story was pretty good, if a little abrupt. The game went on a while longer than I expected, with the alternate universe thing after I finished the broken record. Bravo for that - unexpected length was kind of a bonus in and of itself.
All in all, fun if you can take the creepy, with a good variety of puzzles.
I recommend this game!

Pros:
Amazingly clear graphics that did not take an age for my 7-year-old computer to load.
Interesting gameplay, a good variety of mini-games, and HO scenes that were pretty much true to the story and time period.
Skip button available on the mini-games. Story was not overly original but interesting enough.
Music did not irritate, if it does, there is a music volume option.
I hate voice overs in general, usually with bad actors and worse fake British accents, this had none.
Good length - hours of game play for me, and a well thought out bonus game.
Cons:
The story scenes were slow to load the text: I'd start thinking it was like a comic book without text and hit "next" just as the text started to appear. Irritating.
Hint button recharge was really really slow.
For those who care (I don't, I nearly always play Casual level) there did not appear to be different skill levels.
Couple of times mini-game puzzle instructions were confusing enough that I had to use the strategy guide to see what was the expected outcome.
In general, I had a lot of fun with this game. It took several sittings to complete, although I was tempted to play straight through. I will probably play it again for the games thatwere difficult or that I (shamefully) had to skip because I was tired of trying.
I recommend this game!

I knew after the first 15 minutes that I had to have this full CE version. First, there were various levels of challenge. For the record, I play the Casual level and it was challenging without being frustrating. Second, the HINT button actually gave valuable information, even when you were in a HOS. Third, it was not the same old story. And, although there were junkpile HOS, the items were not anachronistic and each HOS was usually a mini game in itself, using found objects and items from inventory.
I also liked, before the end of the demo, how old mini game styles were given new twists, such as using flower vines on the tangled string mini game. There were others, but that's the one that kind of sold me.
I really enjoyed the extra game play at the end, continuing with a combination of HOS and adventure. If gave me probably another hour and a half to two hours play.
Definitely a buy for me, and well worth it.
I recommend this game!

Bluebeard's Castle has an interesting premis but dark hidden object scenes, minimal instructions on the minigames, and a lack of a "notebook" to remind me of vital clues had me frustrated after 20 minutes.
I had some issues with graphics in a couple of places (I actually saw big blocks of color with what looked like Russian code or printing in the background) but will gladly concede that it may have been technical difficulties with my computer.
For those who like voiceovers, there were few, which is actually a point in its favor in my book.
On the plus side, some of the minigames were truly original, like the fountain puzzle right at the front gate and the horoscope clock lock.
I recommend that you try the game if you like challenging mini puzzles and will not be frustrated by having to run back and forth between scenes to remind yourself of clues, and if you are not annoyed by junk pile hidden object scenes.
This game has potential but the demo was enough for me.
I don't recommend this game.
