I have waited for years for the third installment of this game. The first two were a little on the 'lame' side, but this game was GREAT!! Casual Arts brought in Park Ranger and Christmas places to the story line. Loved the puzzles. This is a game for fun, and that's what it provided x 10. The graphics were detailed making objects challenging to find amidst everything, and that's what most people like who have followed Casual Arts. No gore, no evil just something the entire family can play again and again. I have already played it twice
Halloween: Trick or Treat 3 knocked it out of the park. I look forward to the next installment hopefully next year.
There is a 'hard core' version - not sure it's called that, but it is especially challenging. I'm going there next.
Bottom line—I absolutely recommend this game!!!
I recommend this game!

I like the Chimera games, but this one held some annoyances. First, the good parts. I liked the HOP games and the music that accompanied them. The graphics were good, but towards the end of the game the story line felt 'rushed' as though they had to finish the game fast.
Usually games (voices, sounds etc) don't bother me, but the annoyance level was high with voice over for the wanderer because he sounded 'snivelly' and whiny to the point where when the wanderer spoke I turned down the sound.
I think I like the collector's versions better, but having the map for locations, it saves me from backtracking through every scene.
Bottom line, this game gets a 'thumbs up' save for the whining.
I recommend this game!

I have enjoyed Elephant games a lot, and I I do not consider myself particularly dense, but the clues provided in this game left me with questioning, "How on earth did that clue tie to going to this room?" If I did not have the strategy guide, I would have quit soon after I started. Even with the guide, I nearly quit half a dozen times but I stuck with it to see just how disjointed the game got. I have other Grim Tale games that I am not likely to play, and when I do, It will be because of desperation that there is LITERALLY NOTHING LEFT TO DO!!!
Onto the story. The characters of the kids were borderline delinquent, even Jackie who kept saying she was sorry for disobeying. As a former teacher, that strained my patience.
The music was not bad; sometimes I just sat there ignoring the game to listen to it.
Ultimately, it was the cock-eyed plot-line that had me going and doing things that made little sense of direction or connection, and that annoyed me the most.
Bottom line, would I recommend this game? No.
I don't recommend this game.

I read other reviews—those that gave it 5 Star must be psychic or they get all the "gobble-dee-gook" that I just finally said forget it. If you pick the higher challenge you cannot change your mind. So I restarted the game and did the easier level, and folks, it ain't much better!! When I could not reclaim the hammer, HECK I COULDN'T EVEN FIND THE HAMMER AGAIN, to break the piggy bank, and the hints weren't helping, I said, "I'm done." I will not purchase another game from these folks. I'm glad there are people out there that enjoy it—I'm just not one of them.
I don't recommend this game.

A Lot of Improvements Over the Past Few Years

Even though I gave Christmas Wonderland a 5 Star rating, there are a few things that irked me. One was the constant reference to Christmas as "Xmas." It's like taking Christ out of Christmas. The other thing was the 'custom cursor.' In every previous game, I could opt out of the custom cursor for the regular cursor and the game would remember. Not this one. Every single time I logged in, I had to uncheck the custom cursor. I even tried playing with the custom cursor, but it was too annoying.
Now for the improvements. The last few years, Casual Arts has put in these small-piece, 'insidious' jigsaw puzzles that took the fun from solving them. I play all the games every year, and the one that bothered me likely the most was the puzzle of Santa going to the ISS. Nearly every piece was small and was of outer space with very little to assist the player in giving clues to solving it. This year, there was none of that. THANK YOU. The pieces were also a bit larger. Again, THANK YOU. The story line also held some new aspects different from earlier years which was enjoyable.
All in all, Christmas Wonderland 13 returned the charm of the earlier games. As others remark, when the new CW games come out, one knows Christmas is coming.
I look forward to CW 14 next year.
I recommend this game!

One of the Hardest yet a Satisfying Game to Play

This is the second time I have played this game. The first time, several years ago, I gave up because it was HARD. There are no Hints that told you where to go next, (at least at the level I was on), but the map did much of that. It was convoluted and sometimes tedious, but this time I was determined not give up.
The music behind everything kept me going. It was beautiful and not repetitious to the point that I even considered muting it.
The graphics were really good as well. I will likely play it again, but not again for a time—likely a LONG TIME.
I have another Dark Parables, but I think I will sit that one out as well.
The reason I quit this before was that I did not realize the cursor point needed to be on the object where something was to happen or be placed. When I started the game again this time, I realized what I needed to do and things went better, which let me finish the game this time.
I would have liked to be able to 'jump' to where I needed to be rather than backtracking and finding where I needed to go by trial and error.
The storytelling/story line was good.
I recommend this game!

I have all the Christmas Wonderland games. I was looking forward to this one, but I found that it did not have the enjoyment of earlier games. I gave the level of challenge the highest mark, but it didn't mean I necessarily enjoyed it. The jigsaw puzzles were far harder, and some I would call challenging beyond the point of enjoyment. I played to the end, but I don't believe I will be playing Wonderland 12 anytime soon again. I am seeing the Wonderland games getting progressively harder and less enjoyable; the fun factor was just not there this time.
I don't recommend this game.

It's 12:10 am. I have to get up at 5:30, but I could not stop this game until I finished. Not since Dire Grove, Madame Faet, and the Ravenhurst series have I enjoyed a Master Detective so much. Eipix really put out an outstanding game this time. The puzzles were challenging. The story line was entertaining. The interest factor—I'm UP AFTER MIDNIGHT—was enough to keep me playing. I will be playing this game again. Tomorrow, I'll be doing the bonus chapter, but I have to get some sleep before I go to work. Moths to the Flame has set a new level Eipix will need to maintain. For now, GREAT JOB!
I recommend this game!

I wasn't sure if I would like this game, but I have to say I was surprised and very pleased. The graphics are beautiful. The sound track enhances rather than detracts from the game. The narrator, Scott Palmer, has a MARVELOUS voice that causes one to want to hear the story line narration rather than skip it. There were a couple instances (clues, next step) where I went "Huh?" but those didn't matter when compared to the rest of the game. I enjoyed this and will play it again. There puzzles ranged in difficulty, which I liked. The HOPs were beautiful.
I recommend this game!

After playing the hidden object games for a couple years, I found that I was becoming jaded to the challenges. Even the plots were becoming 'ho-hum.' And then, I played Haunted Hotel:Eternity. It was enjoyable. The graphics were good. Elephant Games managed to bring the intrigue back into their games—it was missing for a time. The HO were not extensive (thank you). The puzzles made you think; I like that. The dialogue and story line were good. Overall, good job.
I recommend this game!
