This game was released before Timeless, The Lost Castle. I played them in reverse. This particular game has LOTS of Hidden Object Scenes, and they are attractive to look at. I liked the story and the general look and feel of the game. A game with a gentle pace, to take your time with, listen to the birds and appreciate the art work. The puzzles were a mixed bag, with some very difficult. No voices (you read the conversation), no lock on the inventory, and hint button doesn’t tell you the exact item to put where, except for in the HOS themselves. Nice and bright graphics. Doesn’t fill your whole screen and occasionally difficult to see items even with full brightness on the computer.
Wow, wow, WOW!… I thought after reading some of the reviews that this might not be so good, especially because of its age, but I found it to be artistic, detailed, and deeply relaxing… I could hardly believe the wonder of the first few scenes! The artwork is ornate, antique and medieval. The music is instrumental / classical and beautiful. The story was constantly moving The content of the story is pretty dark in nature, with dark magic etc. but the story has a positive outcome.
There weren't that many hidden object scenes. The puzzles were varying in difficulty and some were very difficult, but there was always the skip button. There are no voices, if that’s important to you. The sound effects in general were done extremely well and created the correct ambiance. The game is pretty difficult but the hint button will guide you to look more in a certain location, at a very specific area, but it won’t circle the item it wants you to find. The inventory gets pretty loaded up at times; at one time I counted 14 items in there. Also the inventory doesn’t stay locked. There’s no map, but your journal stores all your important clues etc. If you want lots of help, you’ll have to find a walkthrough.
Even though it didn’t fill the whole screen, honestly it didn’t matter, because the graphics were bright, clear and very detailed. Awesome game.
Beautiful, graphics. Crazy in places like you would expect the Mad Hatter to appear any second. Starts off a little scary, and the ‘bad guy’ has quite a malevolent presence, but overall, I would say the “Mad-Hatter” madness is the main feel of the game. Lots of puzzles that were fun and of middle difficulty. Hidden object scenes nice, but not as fun as the puzzles. Not a mad-dash adventure, you do one room at a time and move on. IF you love detail, taking your time and all the afore-mentioned, I think you’ll like this a lot. There was something very different about this game, and I loved it! There are morphing objects in this too. What an SE!!
Opulent details everywhere! Metal scrollwork, satin and velvet, chandeliers and candelabras. Great atmospheric sound and wonderful new-age type appropriate music accompanies the hidden object scenes. Loved this game from start to finish. Thanks Elephant games and BFG. Lots and lots of gorgeous rooms to unlock and investigate.
The last 3 worlds were more interesting than the first I thought - quirky and surreal. Evil, power-crazy villain wants to rule ALL the worlds. He splits Margaret’s soul into 4 pieces and places each in a different world with the intention to corrupting her goodness. Creepy bad-guy. (No lip -movement, if that’s important to you.)
Oh my gosh! What an absolutely absorbing game. Very beautiful, gorgeous graphics and so many scenes. The story carries a constant thrill of mystery in this fairy-tale, intriguing story, by BLUE TEA GAMES. Flowers and forests, cliffs and flowers, flowers, flowers, huts and mansions, Alice in Wonderland type weirdness and underwater magic. FROG HOGS and lots of puzzles.Ornate and beautiful HOGS just like only Blue Tea Games can do.
I can see now why some of the reviewers for Dark Parables: The Queen of Sands were a bit disappointed with that particular game, because this game by Blue Tea Games is so much more superior. I’d forgotten just how GOOD the quality of these earlier games were. The description of kidnapping originally put me off and I didn’t even trial this game, but “pennmom36” had written that this was a result of a nobleman seeking his lost love, and so that put a different spin on it.
Wow, how sad that Blue Tea Games no longer make games of this magnificent quality. It was some time ago that I played Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince, DP: Briar Rose, and DP: The Last Cinderella, so I couldn’t quite remember the awesome quality that has now been lost through collaboration with Eipix. Even though I LOVED DP: Queen of Sands, this game here, The Crooked Man and The Crooked Cat is in a totally different league…a league above.
Very enjoyable game. You must discover why, who and how a Lady was murdered centuries ago. Lovely settings in castles, churches and outdoors. Good atmosphere. Some unique puzzles in there that I haven’t come across before!
I absolutely love this game. It has gone back to the high standard of Dark Parables: The Last Cinderella as far as I can tell (I also loved Dark Parables: Briar Rose, and Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince). I love the Hidden Object style where you create objects in three different sections after finding the individual parts. And BEST OF ALL everything, whatever they may be, is ornate and spectacular. The sound, the story, the atmosphere, are all great. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks BFG, Eipix and Blue Tea Game !
I recommend this game!

Ominous Objects: Phantom Reflection
A mysterious mirror is causing havoc in your client's house!
LOOKS like someone bought a phantom-possessed mirror! A mediocre game which is occasionally interesting for a short duration, but then it returns to being basically boring. One smashing mirror after another. Not magical, exciting or relaxing. Yes, the art and graphics were pretty to look at times. Very slow moving and a very long drawn out story-line.
The character you play as has the most annoying nasal voice, with zero voice-acting ability, which I had to mute. The HOGS and puzzles were OK.
An outstanding start to the game and first hour. Definitely would’ve scored higher if: 1) the mystery suspense of the story could have carried on at the same level.
SETTINGS, ART and GRAPHICS: Good: a few outstanding scenes, with tons of details, but then others that were just ok. You find yourself in hotels, ballet school, cinema, and an entertainment club. Not much of outdoors, except at the very start. Cut scenes were blurry.
STORY: Ballet versus a different life, a life of night-life entertainment perhaps? Murder? Who is the suspect and what is their motive? The story was drawn out a little too long.
MUSIC & SOUND: Good but nothing special. Mouse-click sound way too loud in my opinion, with a “searing,” not gentle sound when you zoom in on things. Therefore I had to lose the ambient sounds too. The voice-overs were fairly good. The person talking appears in a circle at the level of the inventory with mouth-movements.
HOGS & PUZZLES: Mixed bag of all sorts, which pop up regularly. With the HOGS you have the option to play a match-3 game if you wish.
HINT: Will show you where to go, and what to use. Can teleport you if you want.
MAP: Gives you tasks and objectives and you can jump to your destination. JOURNAL: None. You DO get an investigation folder which contains letters and stuff related to the suspects and people helping you.
TASKBAR: Is lockable. 3 LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY with a 4th being CUSTOM, and interchangeable during game.
CE EXTRAS: Repayable HOPS, 4 bonus HOPS, repayable mini-games, souvenirs, achievements, picture, making of, movies, collectibles (which are masks hidden in most scenes), match-3 and music.
Some of the features in “Extras” were cool, like the opportunity to find remaining masks. You are taken to that scene, and remember, you can change your difficulty before-hand so that you don’t get any sparkles for help, otherwise it’s just no fun to go there and to be shown where it is!
BONUS: Enjoyable bonus game which continued the main game. 2) The morphing objects are present in the HOGS only (do you get them in the SE? I don’t know.)
