I love Match 3 games and have to admit to a preference for the adventure kind but this is way too much like an arcade game. *No change to the look of the boards other than the shape *Didn't understand the mechanics especially the 'Board reverse' power-up which turns the whole board upside and even plays upside down!! *And why does the board keep shrinking so small I can't see the tiles? *Too many bombs #never thought I'd say that# and not easily identifiable for their purpose. On the good side the graphics are very crisp. Altogether not worth even a Daily Deal. Sorry Big Fish a NO for me

*** Demo only*** Your village has been dessimated by the destruction of necessary runes and your quest is to restore these runes and rebuild the village. With improved graphics the game concept seems quite good. The tiles are VERY VERY FLAT and rather than sliding they attach briefly to the cursor and are sort of dropped in place. Not a very smooth process for the seasoned game-player. There is no timer although the time is recorded; there are no huge bombs just some bonus objects go 'pff' when swapped - we need more BANGS!! There are plenty of 'pests' like bee swarms, spider webs and frozen tiles. Matching with the tile underneath gets rid of the webs and frozen tiles but the swarm just hangs around for a while getting in the way. I liked the idea of choosing which part of the new village to concentrate on next which then tasks you with collecting supplies of one thing or another. I didn't like the mines games as the stones, gold and rocks all looked very similar as did the picks and the shovels. The gems were clearer but then the FLATNESS spoilt it. The library books and manuscripts were also extremely FLAT. Not a buy for me unless the graphics and sound effects are drastically improved.
Review based on an enjoyable half hour so far of the demo. A quest to find the white tiger takes you through the African continent with the help of four jungle pals. This is a straight match 3 - no shopping, trips aside etc. There are 3 game modes - swap, chain and block. Even when the tiles are clear there are still certain numbers of items to gather before the board is finished (like that). The graphics are crisp and clear even on full screen. The music leaves a lot to be desired ranging from steel guitar, which I quite like, to a sort of rockabilly, which I don't like. The odd spot of classical guitar is refreshing. The game is TIMED rather than having a time limit. That's to say the clock counts up and the less time you take to complete the boards, the more points you get. Create your own pressure. With the music down low I didn't feel pushed and could also appreciate the sounds of the bombs etc. and when a bad move is made you hear a sort of dolls 'oops' sound. There are lots of bombs, particularly if you use your Lions' power as he clears the field. Match 5 and a bomb is awarded on the board but to replenish the bonuses you need to drop the animal characters off the board. Boulders are the only obstacle I have so far encountered but there are probably plenty more to come. All in all I find this an enjoyable game which plays well, offers a personal challenge and whiles away an hour or two now and again. Lots of explosions so I like it enough to get it on a DD but not full price .... ...... unless the music is changed.
I was totally taken with the intro to this game which puts you in Angelica's shoes walking through the city. Very reminiscent of some of the large file adventure games. Flash, bang whallop and I am in the 19th century then whizz and back into the 21st century investigating a murder. The game later shifts back to part of the opriginal cut-scene of the 19th century London and what appears to be a victim of Jack the Ripper. I played the full hour of the demo as far as stacking the chairs. The puzzles and mini games were different, not too challenging but hey.. there's potentially hours to go yet. After a while Angelica nodding in the corner wasn't so noticeable but she does take up a fair chunk of the visible space and I would have rather she was a little smaller. I also went for the static cursor which worked really well. When using a hint it gave just that - a hint - like 'retracing the victims steps could tell us where she lived' and then a direction arrow to follow. So far I have had three mini-games/puzzles and one i-HOS but the main emphasis seems to be on picking up random items as you proceed. Altogether a relaxing adventure/puzzle game with a good flow to the story and enough intrigue to make me come back for more. A must buy when I have another game credit.
I have just finished the demo and only achieved Chapter 2 (the salon) of 7 which is a good sign of a game for me. The graphics, although a little old-fashioned, are very bright and clear and the objects are well disguised and gave me that 'Doh!!' feeling when I have used a hint to find one. The story is intriguing and I feel sure there is a twist in this apparently 'normal' tale of an eccentric milionaire. The sound effects are cool to the point of the coughing sound after the wall is blown up.and the voice of the groundsman is appropriately English and very smooth. I found the puzzles challenging and once started there is no way out other than a skip button so I had to stick with it. I only skipped one but that was only because I was stuck and wanted to get further in the hour. Next time round I shall keep battling. The hints are in the objectives tab of the journal and give an excellent guide to what is expected next.... and another 'doh' moment. This is a buy for me as it is all round good, cheerful fun but the shadowy figure lurking about the place makes me feel a more sinister ending is due. Nice one Felix.
At first I played the game and after 10 minutes closed it down as I was lost as to how to achieve anything. When I decided to give it a second go I spotted the blue arrow on the lower edge of the initial pop up screen and so this time, instead of closing it down I read each page. The idea is to match species in order of evolution and thus climb your way to the top of the chain e.g matching three amoeba gives you a plant, match 3 plants and you get a lung fish etc. The first level offers new species in that phase of evolution. The trick is to get the animals where you want them as, unlike a conventional M3 there are limited spaces and they shuffle to the left. Every now and then a new line falls in to help out. The 'power up' in this first level is being able to swap one of the acquired species on the left in order to make a 3match. I would like to think they get better. This must be the first time I have played the full 60 minutes and not got off Level 1, hence the 5 star challenge, but I would imagine I would soon be bored. Excellent graphics, brilliant concept, just a little too boring at this early stage so not risking a buy on this one.
