Not sure why this game didn't get better reviews.
I certainly enjoyed this game.
The story is easy to follow. Graphics, voiceovers, and animation are excellent.
This game is sparse on HO junk pile scenes, and 80% puzzles and tasks to obtain objects. Most tasks are logical. Most puzzles are easy, but with enough challenge, to make it interesting and not too ho-hum. There are only a few puzzles that are a bit of a pain to solve.
There are a few point and shoot tasks. Mercifully, these are not too hard either.
The ending is expected, but there is enough build-up to the conclusion that it doesn't feel truncated.
There are 3 modes to play--Regular, Hard (no sparkles. but Hint & Skip are allowed, and helpful messages are posted), and Hardcore (no hints, skips, helpful messages).
It's a decently long game, but most experienced Fishies should be able to complete in 3-5 hrs.
The only thing that seemed discordant to me was the voice for the Fortune teller, who looks as old as earth, sounds like it's from a 30 yr old woman.
Otherwise, a very enjoyable game.
I recommend this game!

The castles are beautiful, but you will work hard to build each one, like the protagonist tasked with building 6 castles to win the hand of the princess.
The M3 boards are large and multiple. There are many locks that have to be unlocked to get the keys, and then there are "gardens" (another M3 board) where you try to get 4 stars (the 4th star is a BUTTERFLY) , which allows you to get animated animals such as birds that fly through the castle grounds.
I love the format of this game and building the castles, which are fantastic.
There are 3 modes of gameplay: relaxed (no time limit), timed, and move limited. Timed mode is very challenging (not enough time, unless you are super fast). Relaxed is great, and more enjoyable in my opinion. To each his own.
Bonus games include MahJong, which is timed, average time limit of 10 minutes. You earn 40 coins for completion, 200 coins if you beat the best time. There is one Hidden Object scene, which unlocks when you have completed building all castles. There are also M3 timed (super hard) and zigzag M3 boards (also a pain).
The built castles can all be set as wallpapers, but the wallpaper is static and does not have the animation seen in the actual game when you complete. The wallpaper is saved even if you uninstall the game, which I like.
I look forward to additional castle building from this developer. Improvements I would like to see are SCREENSAVERS with animation AND played as a SLIDE SHOW so all castles built can be enjoyed EVEN IF YOU UNINSTALL THE GAME.
This is a long game, and challenging even if played in Relaxed mode. There are tiles that never seem to die, but the castles are well worth the effort. I played this game at least 2 weeks to build all castles.
I recommend this game!

I played this game without playing any of the previous Ravenhearst games. Pretty impressive HO adventure.
It has cinematic animation, sound & visual effects.
The storyline is well fleshed out with background stories about your nemesis strewn in each step of your journey.
More puzzles (70%) than HOS. Most puzzles are pretty easy to solve, with only a few taking more effort than others, and not too frustrating.
Most actions are intuitive. There is a lot of interaction with objects to progress.
It's a long game, with a lot to do and see. I deducted one star because it has a dark, sinister, and ghoulish ambience, especially at the beginning. It gets less gloomy as the game progresses, but in general, I prefer light, cheerful and non-scary HO games.
A well done game and a definite buy.
I recommend this game!

This is my vote for 2016 HO game of the year.
Storyline is easy to follow and even plausible.
Graphics are beautiful. Animation is smooth. Everything is bright, cheery, Christmas-y, magical, and fun.
Mini puzzles are not too hard. There is a combination of jigsaw puzzles, painting by numbers, bubble shoot, match 2, match 3, untangling ropes. Pretty standard, but I like that they are not too hard to figure out.
There is a lot to see, a lot to do. Game is long, and even the bonus chapter is long and continues along the same narrative arc, but expanded for more depth.
I hope to see another sequel to this, but matching the quality of this one would be hard.
CE version has morphing jigsaw puzzle pieces to find in each scene to make 4 puzzles. You can access the puzzles anytime and not have to wait until end of game. Some of the puzzle pieces are in the Bonus chapter. There is a collectible room for various figurines encountered through main & bonus chapters. There are 7 match 3 levels--6th & 7th levels are hard, as number of moves is limited.
If you use the map and teleport 20 times, that each counts as an achievement.
All in all, a fantastic buy and awesome gameplay. This is one Collector version not to be missed.
I recommend this game!

The graphics for this game are excellent, but I am deducting one star because no ability to save screensaver after completing game.
Your objective is to complete each level and acquire enough coins to buy items like ornaments, toy train set, child-size teddy bear, arm chair, clock, framed painting etc to complete the scene. Multiple levels are required to acquire enough coins for each upgrade.
Save up your power ups because the last level #80 is impossible to complete under timed mode without using many power ups.
You have to repeat previous levels in order to acquire power ups.
All in all, a nice game, except for deficiencies noted above.
The 1st 50 levels are pretty easy, but starting with level 60, gets considerably harder.
I recommend this game!

More experienced M3 players will find this game too easy, but it's great for newbies who just want to have fun and relax.
The visuals are somewhat simplistic and not bowl-you-over fantastic.
Basically each match 3 level completed earns you points to upgrade a basic xmas village scene to create a dazzling xmas village, replete with lights, snowmen, shops, trees, etc.
There is also a Shop where you can buy power-ups to tackle harder levels.
Timed mode gives you plenty of time to finish a level, and most levels are not too hard.
There are 100 levels to complete, but each level has levels within a level, so it is actually more than "100" levels.
There is one bonus level after 100, but doesn't earn you anything--just another M3 to play.
I loved playing this game, but deducted one star for the simplistic visuals and absence of screensaver at end of game.
I recommend this game!

The negative reviews for this game are not deserved.
True, it is an old school game. There are huge arrows telling you to drag left, right, down, or up.
Sparkles pop up when there is a junk pile HOS, which is needed, as there is no BF walkthrough.
A jigsaw puzzle icon pops up when you hover over a mini puzzle game, which are mostly easy to solve.
There are voiceovers along with subtitles.
Not much movie motion animation, and the characters look like comic book characters, but the visuals are crisp, contemporary, and well done.
The storyline involves a pendulum (lower right corner, below Hint button) which you occasionally use to travel through time (night vs day) and space.
There is no Map button to transport to various scenes, but Hint button suffices (and your trusty memory).
All in all, a decent, straightforward HOS mystery game with a happy ending.
Give it a try, you might be surprised and find you like it.
I recommend this game!

I recommend the CE for this game--it will prolong the game and the extras are worth the extra cost.
There are 2 bonus games to play, both involving cat characters. One is quite short, but the other is decently long.
There are jigsaw puzzle pieces to find in each scene that can be put together at the end, but doesn't allow you to go back and find if you missed without playing the game all over again.
Collectibles are gift boxes to find in each scene that have cats dressed up in various guises.
The bonus room is cleverly set up with achievements dressed up as gift boxes around xmas tree, a collectible shelf of cats found in gift boxes throughout the main game, cats curled up in a basket and represent the 2 bonus games, and a series of picture frames sitting on the couch and when you click on it you get the screensavers.
All in all a fun game with lots to do and find.
The story and characters are well developed so you really understand the motivation of the characters and the plot.
I recommend this game!

This series gets high marks from devotees, so my expectations were very high, and as a result, did not make the mark.
A nice story for the holidays with a nice, neat conclusion that ties beginning to end.
The artwork is about the same as in the previous installments, but maybe not as lavish and ornate as the 1st few in the series. The mini puzzles/games are rather easy, which is OK with me as the 1st installment in the series was very challenging.
I found this game rather short, but I did not purchase the CE as I did for the others.
Do the demo to see if it's your cup of tea.
I recommend this game!

This is an old school HO game with mini puzzles in between and a good storyline using Greek myth figures such as Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, who all make cameos in your journey.
A decently long game with traditional pile of junk HOS, rather easy jigsaw puzzles, point and shoot shooting harpies/arrows etc, press buttons in correct order to open a passage etc.
There is no map or blog walkthrough, but most Fishies will survive with the hint system and sparkles indicating areas to interact. There is not a lot of big scene jumps and items to collect are in linear progression.
The artwork is quite good and there are voiceovers in between.
It's not a game that will dazzle with special effects, clever twists, or innovative game play, but a very nice game to play for newbies, if you like Greek mythology, or want play a game that is not too taxing on problem solving skills.
I recommend this game!
