Let me explain.... I love the Nancy Drew series and this game is another in the great line of her mystery/adventures but I have always thought that Nancy should take some time and try to solve the mystery of her missing demo's here on Big Fish. There are only a very few of her games that offer one so, in honor of Nancy I took up the case. I am happy to report that the investigation has proven fruitful and this is what I have learned... I'm sure that along with myself and the rest of our fellow fishies in this Big Fish world you play your demo's using your handy dandy "Game Manager". I have found that this is the key. When you open your manager select 'FIND NEW GAMES' which is located at the top left hand corner. Once you do you will see the sub-heading 'PC GAMES' and in the search bar enter the name of any game or simply Nancy Drew and there you will find a treasure of Nancy Drew demo's. There is one for nearly all of her games. I am very happy to have stumbled upon this information and there you have it my friends, we have cracked the case!
Based on completed game* -The graphics were great in this game. The feeling of Ireland is certainly in the air. The voice over work was nice. -The story line of this game really pulled me in. Nancy is trying to find out what actually happend to her mother who passed when she was only a child. - The length of game play was @ 7 hours for me and I did cheat and use a walk-through a couple of times.
I found this to be a terrific Fantasy sci-fi adventure. It is beautiful, humorous(i.e. "memory relic"= camcorder), romantic, and... devastating! The world is dying and so is your father and only your ancestor holds the key! The Elvin kind are trying to help you locate the "nucleus" which will heal and save all that is wrong, however, I can't shake the feeling I get when she glances upon me with her hazy shifty eye's. I must admit though, the purple is quite lovely. Hmmm, Elves versus Humans?? I guess only time will tell.
Based on COMPLETED game: -The game isn't polluted with H.O.'s which is nice and most are interactive like making your father a meal. -The puzzles are fair to intermediate like rotating blocks to unlock the machine which holds the nucleus. -The game length for me was @ 4 hours. I wish it was longer and this is a big reason I only voted 4 stars.
This game is a solid one and I can't imagine anyone who loves the fantasy genre being disappointed. Then again, that's what the demo is for. Enjoy!
Other great games in this genre- -Lost Lands series -Dark Realm series
Other great games coming soon- -Saga of the Nine worlds "The Gathering"
I am no stranger to Big Fish and have never done a review but after playing the demo I felt I had to start here!
I love most everything about this newest series from Eipix. The graphics and music created a wonderful atmosphere. The setting, 1895 London, was well conveyed. Finally, having the feeling that it was a nod to such works as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Penny Dreadful forced my heart to stand up straight, affix her monocle and prepare for a great adventure!
If you are a fan of adventure and HOP games as I am, I believe you won't be disappointed. The puzzles were varied and had a unique and truly challenging aspect to them and the HOP's had the great twist of being interactive which is my favorite type.
I won't get into the story line because half the fun, to me, is discovering all that through the characters and the game so I promise there will be no spoilers here. However, I will leave you with this, this is a game that mustn't be missed! What are you waiting for? Download the demo, grab a cucumber sandwich, and set out on a monstrous adventure through old London that would make Mary Shelley proud! Enjoy!
