I started out liking this game but all of the scenes started looking the same to me. Graphics were good and I personally love little helpers ,especially dogs. however, I guess maybe I'm just getting bored with all of the stupid floating city, unrealistic, same looking scenes. I like variety with realistic story lines that take us outdoors and traveling to different towns par exemple. What happened to top quality games like Nevertales, Beauty Within and Cadenza, Music, Betrayal and Death? These were games with a hint of the supernatural but with a believable edge. Most game players of this genre are middle age like myself and are really sick of the " way out there" hard to follow games. Thus being said, this game deserves at least a 4 and a half star review for their unique story line, good graphics and interactive hidden object scenes.
I bought this game after playing the demo because it seemed like it was going to be unique. It went down hill fast. Every scene started looking the same, I got so bored, I started hitting the hint button just to get through the game. Graphics were just ok to me, not as realistic as Mad Head used to produce like the first Cadenza and Nevertales, Beauty Within. those were the best. Unless Mad Head brings back that quality of a game, I'm just about done buying any more games from this developer.
What makes a game great is one that includes the little details like leaves that move when you touch them or birds that fly away when you point at them and this game is full of these. The story line was creative and easy to follow and the graphics were excellent. Voice overs were good as was the music. I don't understand why everyone complains about helpers, I actually love them and Toto was adorable. The h.o. games were fun and the other games were just the right difficulty. This developer put a lot of thought and hard work into this game and they absolutely deserve a five star rating.
My all time favorite game is Nevertales, A Beauty Within. This game was so unique with excellent graphics. Beauty is in a league of its own. So, comparing this Nevertale game, it was a huge disappointment. I thought the characters looked very cartoonish and the story line left me not connecting with the characters. I really didnt want to save anyone. I did however like the concept of the story. Moving from differen't book worlds is fun for me and the games were not to hard, just right. Bottom line is, this game is good compared to a lot of other games out lately but it just didn't have the little special touches that I expect from my favorite developers, Mad Head.
