For me this game is just a great big no, on every point. Why so many games on BFG more suited for children? Adults spend the money here, not the kids! So why don't we get games that appeal to adults, that we can wrap our minds around, instead of all the riff-raff? The game is dripping with sugary images, the music is annoying and the mini-games are crazy-easy, Really, Big Fish? Can't you reach for the stars instead of into the bottom of the barrel?
The graphics are bright and sharp, filled with lots of pastel colors typical of the sugarland theme. The solitaire and mini-games are perfect for young beginners, there are 200 levels that will likely fly by due to the little to no challenge, and little jelly animals that add yet another blip of color to the game. There is a 4-star goal with pop-up words of praise as you successfully move along and a summary of your achievements after each level.
You may find this to be a sweet addition to your solitaire collection. I failed to find any entertainment value. Maybe you'll be less critical and have better luck than me. I just don't understand how this game gets the BFG stamp of approval. Surely they don't think that the superior Jewel Match Solitaire will appease our appetites forever?! More than "once in a blue moon" quality solitaire games would be greatly appreciated.
Try the demo and you might have great fun with today's new high/low release. It's a great one for super easy card play, bubbly music and quick little games for a break from the solitaire.
I don't recommend this game.

Surely the devs that have their foot so firmly planted in the door of BFG can do much better. After all, they're in the entertainment business! If they can't deliver, open the door to the multitude of others just waiting for the chance to sell their talents and put their games on the market.
This popular style of HOG needs a big overhaul. New everything! You name it! Each of these games offers the same old boring agenda, only the destination changes. Although, I don't consider this a bad game, it just doesn't have enough entertainment value to inspire me to purchase even with a coupon. Today's release is just more of the stuff we've seen before but will appeal to fans who want some easy fun searching for items with a few mini games sprinkled throughout, to alleviate the stresses of the day. HOGs are great stress relievers and I love them, when they have all the right elements.
If you love all the "travel" HOGs, this one is sure to please. The graphics are nice and clear and there's plenty of color to brighten up the locations. The music is more like elevator music to my ear, but that can be remedied. The scenes are full of objects sometimes well hidden, sometimes too obvious, some out of proportion. I've never had any tech issues with any of the games.
I just think a step out of the box is long overdue, the devs need to leave the comfort zone that makes it easy to make a buck without the effort. Let's see some brilliant new games!

Well, I didn't get very far into the adventure. The demo was full of menial tasks that really hindered my progress. As soon as I entered the gates I was confronted with obstacles, broken and missing items and had to locate the knocker to enter the house. Right off I'm not feeling much like continuing the journey because tedium is already tugging at me.
The Task Book was found in the bag in the coach and the Map popped up a little later which very quickly transports you to your desired locations. A Bestiary is used to banish the monsters, I dealt with 2 in the demo. I'm not a fan of this gimmick that to me is an annoying time filler. I didn't like the puzzles I had to play but they were easy enough. A Harmony Guardian magically appeared, entrancing Uncle Jodac and whisking him away to her kingdom. She was aggressive and had an overly emphasized gruff voice. Didn't seem very harmony-like to me, maybe she was just having a bad day!
Sorry I can't give more info on what seems to be an entertaining storyline. All I can give you is...the graphics are really sharp and full of rich color, not much of Domini's trademark neons. The scenes are somewhat cluttered with broken stuff to muddle through to find the items needed to progress. The 3 characters in the demo were well rendered and the voices were strong and synced with lip movement. Good facial expressions.
The one HOP I played was dark but items were easily found, a couple were interactive. I tried the Match 3 game which had unpleasant sound f/x and big clunky tiles. I don't recall any mini games other than the ones associated with the Bestiary. There are 18 HOPs and 20+ puzzles. A good balance. The games can be played in Easy or Hard Mode. Hint and Skip times can be reduced to zero seconds in Custom Play, always ideal for the demo.
The collectibles are typical for Domini with 70 coins, 15 potions, 15 morphs, 15 inventions, 30+ achievements. An Indicator Bar keeps tabs on the collectibles for you, a great feature. The music was tolerable and volume adjustable, no tech issues. The Cursor was so huge, I used my own small one which always works smoother than game cursors.
I'm not very enthused about this game, mainly due to the demo being bogged down with so much to do before I could delve into the adventure. I would hate for the whole game to be that way. It's a storyline that piqued my interest, but I'm reluctant to buy at this point. Will likely be on the fence awhile or at least until a better sale comes along.
The game should definitely be a winner with fantasy fans who love enchanted kingdoms, forest spirits and magical beasts.
I recommend this game!

The "Travel To" games are always very easy and always the same. It doesn't take long for boredom to take over although it isn't a disaster. The Hidden Object modes break up the monotony a little bit but there isn't much challenge in any of the choices. There are several Play Modes, I always choose Relaxed for demos to quicken the pace, but I like the Timed Modes more. The HOs are of average difficulty to find, some are very well hidden. They always seem to be in the same location when the levels are replayed and that's what causes a lot of the boredom.
The games are okay, nothing we haven't seen before. A new Difference game has been added to today's release, but it's as challenge-free as the others. Still it is fun and always my favorite amongst mini games. The Trivia Facts are fun, although I found some to be inaccurate in previous games. I don't know how spot-on they will be for Canada. Just saying that good research should be a priority for this feature in any game. The graphics are very good. I think they are sharper than in "Travel to Germany". The locations are very busy and super colorful.
I own a few of the earlier games in this series and they were fun, but as time went on they never evolved and without changes it makes no sense to buy any others if they are all just the same. The "Travel To" games are appealing if you want something relaxing without a bunch of features and no story to follow. No age or skill requirements needed. Just hit Play and enjoy a few hours of quiet time.
I recommend this game!

There was nothing enjoyable about this game. It did not have enough appeal to fill a pin head. Sometimes I'm amazed at the poor quality of games that find their way into BFG.
First of all, the music disappeared early into the game. The images were very plain and difficult to distinguish. Without the labels I would never have guessed what many of them were. I especially disliked "The Queen Cut Her Finger" and "Baby's Drop of Blood", and "The Pregnant Queen" more closely resembled a hillside than a baby bump.
Honestly, the pictures were awful. They were so simple to complete, that I went through 16 of them in a flash and I only went that far to see if the images improved or not. NOT!!!
There are 12 tile designs, all with flat-matt finish. Colors are basic and not much variety, up to 6 per image. I chose Normal Difficulty and it was very easy. Switched to the more difficult mode for a bit, the challenge was not too bad. There is a 3-star goal, lose one for Hint and one for Mistake. It would be hard to make a mistake in this too easy game. The two tools are a Wand and Magic Mirror which recharge quickly after use, replenishing with the successful progress made as you play. The Wand uncovers one cell, the Mirror reveals a 3x3 block.
I've never been a fan of Fables Mosaics because of overly simple play and unattractive images. However, I thought since mosaic games have undergone some make-overs, this one may have improved. The reviews should have been a strong clue that something needs to change. Anyway, today's release left a lot to be desired, IMO.
It will likely appeal to nonogram fans who like to keep it simple and thus more relaxing and don't mind the "mystery" images. There are enough chapters for plenty of puzzle solving if there was more of a challenge. I encountered no tech issues and the grids were easy on the eyes. However, there just wasn't enough entertainment here to inspire me in the least to purchase. I hope it is a source of new fun for beginners in this genre and that other mosaic fans find it a delightful addition to their collection.
I don't recommend this game.

I appreciate the beauty in these Jewel Match games and the quality never falters. Today's release was an instant buy after the demo. I'm not good at sufficiently describing Match 3 games, but I can share what makes this one special for me. My Jewel Match collection has provided continual fun, as I play them frequently due to the poor M3s we get these days.
The Custom Cursors are pretty, but a bit too big, so I prefer my own customized small one. The game's cursor works well though. The 8 music selections are very soothing and would actually be nice in the background at naptime. I love the sound f/x while playing, the tinkling is very pleasant to my ear. There are no clunking or loud explosive sounds that are present in most other M3 games. The underwater landscape is lush with beautiful, natural colors. A parade of pretty fish swimming aimlessly along, adds to the beauty of the scenes. I love restoring the majestic mansions. They are so eerily gorgeous.
There are 3 Game Modes, I prefer Limited Moves and I also choose Normal Difficulty. You can change about as you play, it's fun to try the different challenges. I enjoy testing myself to keep it interesting. The moving boards have lovely tiles appropriate to the oceanic theme. Going from one board to another is essential to completing the levels and earning the necessary tinder to rebuild the mansions. The game plays like the previous Jewel Match 3s so it didn't take long to familiarize myself with any of the mechanics. The magnificent power-ups work the same, but have cosmetically changed. Lives collected along the way are still a welcomed rescue. One of my favorite obstacle challenges is the golden snail. Clearing the board in the Pearl Level is another fun challenge.
I love everything about this game. It is an excellent CE package with 220 levels, 72 bonus levels, replayable mini games, mansion restoration, extensive in-depth Strategy Guide, map, affordable shop for the power-ups, beautiful wallpapers. The excellent replay value is another thumbs-up. I think it is worth the CE price and I know I will enjoy it many times over just like my other Jewel Match games.
I recommend this game!

I didn't care much for this game. Doesn't seem like a bad one, it just doesn't have a fun feel to it. It started off with a missing zipper pull but, thankfully, was quickly remedied with a stray safety pin. The pin and fire hydrant were out of place for this time period, one of those quirks that are ever-present in games. There was an over-abundance of reading and too much back and forth which annoyed me. They interfere with the flow of the adventure.
Using the gimmick to find symbols was a time waster. For the first time since forever I just wanted to skip the HOPs, which are always my favorite in HOPA games. The alternative Match 3 helped me to quickly finish the HO scenes. The M3 has a gauge that shows your progress. There are 3 indicator bars that keep track of the collectibles and achievements. I think all games should have this very helpful feature.
Graphics are nice and clear, the colors rich and appropriate. The scenes were dark, filled with mild clutter to hinder your search a bit while looking for useful items. The locations for the most part were indicative of the time period, most of the demo scenes were outdoors. The few characters in the demo were non-descript. The voices weren't bad but I expected to hear more of a dialect. The map was pretty basic and the Hint took you to necessary locations, which helped take the edge off the travelling.
I encountered quite a few puzzles in the demo, just a few HOPs. None of them stood out in fun or challenge, the HO scenes were dark and uninteresting. I have no feelings one way or another about the fox. She didn't evoke any emotion which was kind of surprising, since I'm usually drawn to animal characters because I love all critters, real or otherwise.
Except for a couple, I've always enjoyed Grandma games. But this one didn't incite any excitement, curiosity or desire to continue the adventure. The storyline became complex with additional stories, I was tired of reading about the town's history. From all the reading, I assume there are many other characters to meet along the way that tie into this mysterious tale. But I don't have the desire to stick around to find out what's going on.
If I had been able to experience more of the game, maybe my rating would be different. The demo was quite limiting. Without a doubt, this game will bring lots of fun to the table for fans of Whispered Secrets. But for me, it just didn't hit the spot. This CE is light on the collectibles, HOPs and games, and few are replayable. It doesn't have enough, IMO, to justify the CE price. Seems suitable for all ages, anyone can enjoy by choosing which challenge best fits your skill level.
I recommend this game!

I sped like crazy through that very annoying first level, so I could see what is on "the other side". Hooray! I made it! However, it wasn't worth the fuss to get there. For me it was just more uninteresting images with too many more suited for children. The more elaborate images were not appealing to me and the colors didn't seem to put enough life into them.
I was uptight during the demo because of the excessive clicking necessary to access the colors in the palette. I kid you not - I clicked on some numbers at least 20 times before I was able to use them. Sometimes it took only 3 to 8 clicks. I should have just stopped and uninstalled, but I was determined to finish the first level. The click problem was also present in the images. Plus some of the segments were so miniscule that zooming was of no use and that forced me to use the Hint feature. I didn't like that at all. Also, there is no way of telling how many teeny segments are still to be found, so relying on the hints becomes the norm.
The background colors are nice but more variation between the background and the shaded areas within the image would be better. As it is now, the colors being worked on are hard to detect if next to the background, But that really doesn't bother me. I just go around the edges first and color in the border with the help of the numbers magnified next to the cursor. The color bar for the background also adjusts the color of the highlighted areas, sometimes lightening an area helps me find a last little segment.
Paint By Numbers 9 is a basic paint game with minimal features/options. The images have no extended background so they are quick to complete(if you don't have to click on your chosen color forever). The palette has a huge array of colors but I didn't think they add that extra punch that puts more interest and beauty into a picture. The small cursor can be moved over the entire image to fill in the highlighted numbers if you click and hold the left mouse button during the process. An easy time saver if lots of same-color segments to fill in.
I'm pretty spoiled by Art By Numbers, Modern Art and Pixel Art. They each have wonderful artwork, a growing variety of subject matter, gorgeous colors, and features that enhance the fun and beauty. Paint By Numbers 9 could use some changes to bump up the fun and beauty of their games to get out of their rut. Step out of the box. I'd love to see this genre grow with developers who really put their creative abilities to work on designing fantastic images, creating out of the ordinary colors, using a wider range of subject matter (not kid stuff) and giving us fun features and options.
These games are so wonderful for diluting stress. Any age can enjoy. No special skills required. I'm not purchasing this one as I'm waiting for one of my favorites to come along. This art game is sure to brighten up someone's day with its 64 images waiting to be donned in beautiful colors. And no clean-up involved. I love computerized paint games and jigsaws. Many hours of enjoyment.
I recommend this game!

I'm so accustomed to seeing these poor quality, non-entertaining games that it doesn't even faze me much anymore. Pennmom has stated it well and I'm in total agreement.
This is just another one to add to the mega heap of awful games that plague BFG and cause so much dissatisfaction on a regular basis. Stellar games are out of our reach in every genre if BF keeps supporting these lazy developers who JUST DON'T CARE! We get the same devs, same games, same disappointments, same everything all the time. I'm wondering what has gone wrong with the game site that I always thought was so special?? There's so much more out there. We need new devs, new games, more variety. Why are we stuck with this situation?? So sad! There's no point to Bonus Punch Monday, super sales, BOGOs, club prices if there's never a game worthy of purchase.
As for today's "zombie-less" game it was another "why even bother" by the usual developer. Remember the old zombie solitaires, a few years back? Those were fun! But here today, nothing ever changes except the title and the so-called theme. The annoying Gold Cards, drab card backs, overly expensive Shop, locked locations, unattainable Achievements, removing the Gold Cards ends each game prematurely with no choice to continue playing. Yes indeed, the same old, same old!
If you haven't played one of this dev's high/low solitaire games before you may pleased with this one. It's basic, it has one goal which is to remove the Gold Cards. There are 20 locations, 10 levels in each. It's a go-to time filler at best with not much challenge, IMO.
I don't recommend this game.

The trial wasn't long enough for me to learn all the ins and outs of the game. I know special features are vital to the success of Match 3 games and this one seems to be on the right track. I'm a dunce when it comes to writing a review for Match 3s, so I will leave it to the pro of detailed descriptions and just mention a few things. I did enjoy the demo, it was mildly entertaining.
The 3 game modes are Timeless, Timed and Limited Moves. I played the easiest for the sake of demo time, but Limited Moves is usually my preference when available. Tutorials pop up at intervals explaining function of a newly earned bonus. Above the game board are your score and number of tiles left to remove, which I found helpful. No indication up front of what earns the achievements, but I received 3 in the demo. The 3 types of mini-games are the usual fare. I played one HOG and it was very easy.
The board layouts are different for each level and strategy becomes helpful. There are simple objects to overcome, useful tools for extra help, good power-ups. The tiles were nothing special, quite plain. I didn't care for the sound f/x, the music not too bad, but I liked having volume control. Your score and stars earned are revealed after each level along with any achievement. Make matches of 4 or more and earn an explosive bonus that destroys the block tiles. Along with the other power-ups the challenge of the game may be at risk.
Not much to go on, I know, but at least a hint of what to expect. Although I enjoyed the demo, I am undecided about purchasing. The game can be challenging depending on choice of play mode and it moves along with no tech issues, graphics were excellent. But for me it was missing that extra pizzazz that holds my interest and keeps the fun flowing. Also, I like colorful boards with attractive tiles, these were not.
Will definitely keep this game in mind for future coupon purchase. Compared to the poor Match 3 games we so often get, it is a shining star. The 100 levels and mini-games will make someone's day a little brighter and keep those Match 3 skills in good form. Fun for all.
I recommend this game!
