The Bermuda Triangle, what's not to love? I really enjoy games that take on actual conspiracies and inexplicable reality. That's my cup of tea! Keep your dragons, vampires, dwarves, elves- I like a bit of reality. But that's just me. These days I'm looking to the smaller devs instead of the "BIG THREE" because the second stringers come up with far more fascinating stories...because they have to try harder. Mad Head did not disappoint here- I love the fact that our missing planes and ships are suspended in the clouds, when you think about it, that could actually be a reality. I've been an avid investigator of the Bermuda Triangle for years- thanks, Mad Head, I really appreciate your take on this: outstanding graphics, intriguing storyline and great play. Not going into too much detail here as others have already done a great job concerning that. You'll enjoy this- money well spent!
If you like this type of puzzle/resource gathering game, well, pard'ner, this 'uns fer you! When you become exhausted from adventure gaming, as I often do, it's so much fun to take a train ride with these varmint-fightin' galoots! Graphics are great, storyline terrific (I play timer- hate that blasted thang! lol). And the game is truly a challenge with new ....well...challenges. I'm thoroughly enjoying this when my new adventure games make my head ache and I need a break. Worth the buy if you're into this kinda gaming. Me? I'm luvin' it! :-)
As you can see, this review is being written two years after this game's release. I am so done with what is being churned out by the "Big Three" that I refuse to entertain their projects anymore. I now look to the smaller developers as far back as 2011. There's where you'll find exceptional gaming- intelligent, unique, very well executed, intriguing story lines. This game is excellent. Beautiful graphics, excellent movement on the characters (and the female character isn't sappy- thank you!). Great story! C'mon- the Freemasons? What's not to love? Great job Five-BN!! Take note "Big Three"! Lots to learn here: hmmmm, let's see- no purple, no over saturated neon colors, a believable storyline, no inane emblem scavenger hunts, no mailboxes...summation- a game that makes sense and treats the player as a thinking adult. Bravo!
The first thing that struck me upon beginning this game were the wonderfully improved graphics. Gone is the in-your-face color saturation and the dreaded purple. Thank you, you big Pachyderm, you! The palette is pleasant and easy on the eyes; well done! And not one three-emblem mailbox so I can retrieve a hairbrush, scissors, or toenail clippers. You've been listening! The puzzle pieces are well camouflaged, so there's a hunt. And some of those puzzles will have you scratching your head for quite a while- great job there, Elephant. The HOPs were a little disappointing as they were the usual junk pile (no match-3 option) but all items are clearly rendered and with a little work they can all be found. Elephant took a nice turn on the storyline- whodunnits are great. I'm still trying to figure out the connection between horses/horse racing, bees, and film/movies. I'm just about to the bonus level and I guess it'll all come together there. The music- I recognize the theme of the score from some earlier games (2011-2014). These games were down right eerie and top-notch excellent and I feel Elephant was aiming for the same atmosphere. That goal was not accomplished. This game is a little slow- the storyline lacks the umph that it takes to drive a story forward while at the same time keeping the player mesmerized. But, all in all, wonderful improvements, a good storyline and well worth the purchase- this is definitely an Elephant of a different color and I, for one, am very glad to see it and am enjoying this game! ;-)
We have all been so disappointed with the releases as of late. Especially during these difficult pandemic times, we are gaming a bit more as a means of escape. And we don't want to escape into the frivolous, boring, and mundane. We need to have our socks blown off and unfortunately my socks haven't left my feet over a game in a long time. Then along trots a Friendly Fox and <BOOM>...away go my socks! I'm really not into fantasy princesses and queens, being more of a realist myself. However, there has always been one fairytale that has been with me during my entire long life and that is the immortal Snow White. As a child, I was utterly fascinated by Disney's Evil Queen descending those stairs into her dungeon on the big screen. The animation was astounding. Big shoes to fill. Well, here we have a game that filled those shoes with their own take on Snow White (yes, we see the Dwarves). First and foremost: the graphics and scenery...WOW! I haven't seen graphics this good in a very very long time. They appear to be hand drawn, the palette is perfectly administered, and you (our heroine's older sister) are drawn right into the exciting story via these extremely well executed graphics- bravo, Friendly Fox! The puzzles are refreshing, new, and many are quite challenging. No match-3 option on the HOPs but they are fun and interesting enough to make them enjoyable. The find-'ems consist of morphs and coins. You definitely need a keen eye for the morphs, usually 2 to a scene, and there could be lots of coins or none in the scene. Keeps your eyes tuned! Fantastic graphics can't stand alone and need a great storyline to support the entire project. This story line is really well done and a great take on a classic tale. Not just anyone can pull that off but this developer certainly did. Now, the Princess in this little opus is a little cutesy for me but the Evil Queen joins the ranks with the best of them. The voiceovers could have been a bit more believable but none the less the voices are definitely not flat and suit the characters in their own way. All in all, an excellent effort by the Friendly Fox team and thanks to them and Big Fish for bringing this outstanding selection to us gamers and brightening our lives for bit!
She's not one of the heavy hitters, but Grandma puts out a great game. Grandma treats her gaming children as adults (which most likely they are). The graphics appear to be hand drawn and of excellent quality. The voice-overs are perfect. Wonderful and intriguing storyline. Great find-ems. Love the Tarot cards (being a Tarotist myself). Here's the difference- we have THE BIG THREE DEVELOPERS (we all know who they are) and then we have the second stringers. Why is it the second stringers put out a better product? Because they have to try harder. They have to be more inventive. That's why college football is always more satisfying to watch than the pros. Kids in college ball are hungry, therefore much more enthusiastic, inventive, exciting. I apologize for this football/adventure game comparison but it rings true. During these difficult covid times, gaming has taken on a new importance. Gaming gives players an escape- that's a heavy responsibility. Gotta love Grandma for stepping up! (I wish she'd QB for the NY Jets, she could only help! LOL)
As you can see by the date on this review, this is my first Dana Knightstone adventure. One might ask why as the series has been around for a while. I am so bored, tired, and genuinely disappointed with the majority of games that are churned out today that I now look back for the older games...when stories had depth, scenes were hand drawn, the color purple had no place in nature or anywhere at all unless it was clothing. And is there any place more mysterious than eastern Europe? This game was a breath of fresh air. Fabulous graphics, geographic and time appropriate clothing and architecture, challenging puzzles and HOPs. Developers really need to get back to old school simply because it demonstrated that someone gave a darn.
I just finished a wonderful game by an independent developer that was outstanding. Amazing hand-drawn graphics gave the game a palpable atmosphere. The story was believable and the back story fascinating. Most importantly, the game treated me as a thinking adult. Then I played this game. Domini- please just forget the color purple exists, ok? Stop congratulating me for every note I find- it's like getting a participation trophy; it's embarrassing. And quit putting weird stuff in mailboxes!!! Why do you think they call it a "mailbox"? Because it contains mail, that's why. I shouldn't have to break into a public mailbox in order to find my own keys to my own cabinet in my own house...why aren't my keys in my house?! Once again, I have to sew the hole in the glove to remove thorns BUT right next to the thorns is a pile of dirt which I can't remove because I don't want to do it with my bare hand...but wait a minute, my hand just had a glove on it literally a second ago- I mean it was just right there and now it's gone when I could have used it on the dirt pile. So, what do I have to do? Find a record, climb up a ladder to an old phonograph and play the record so a compartment on the phonograph opens with a gold spoon in it so I can remove the dirt pile. Are you kidding me? Or maybe the Domini dev team enjoys keeping their expensive flatware in old phonographs, I don't know. The voice-overs in this game are truly uninspired...the female dialogue of this detecting duo is particularly bad. The storyline is good as are the graphics (once you omit the purple); at least some imagination was put into that. Usual variations on the HOPs, you've got your match-3 option as well. This isn't a bad game- it's a bland game. I'll recommend it, though, as some may really enjoy it. As for me, I need a bit more depth, more umph. More intelligent gaming. This game is disappointingly shallow and just a rehash of the same old silly gadgetry.
Very cute match-3. Excellent action on the boards. You might want to go a bit harder than casual as I found casual too easy for me, but I've been gaming for almost 30 years. I love these build a village match-3's and you've got it here. I enjoyed it, very relaxing as this year evolves into 2021- sometimes you just have to get away to where everybody knows your name...oh, sorry, not "Cheers" lol. So, sit back, get your favorite libation, and enjoy this game- you do have to figure your tools to complete the board so stay at least a bit clear headed. All in all, I enjoyed this.
Outstanding. I can't believe this is a new game, it is a bit old school which means it is fascinating and doesn't rely on bells and whistles to hold your attention. You will find the occasional babushka doll lurking here and there- click on them! What holds your attention is a trip to post-Soviet Union. What?! What game does that?! This adventure does not hold your hand- sparkly areas are sparse. The opening graphics were above par, the rest of the graphics suit the feeling of a Soviet Russia. All devs please take note- so many of us want a game that not only do we have to figure out, but that teaches us something. You won't find helpful bunnies or cute dwarves, alien gods, or devastating dragons in this game...far from it. You will find a fun mystery thoroughly interwoven with an incredible part of world history. I think this is my new best game...in fact, I know it. Thanks, devs, or as they say in Russia- "Spasibo!"
