I love the Art Coloring series, but this episode, AC5, has so many pictures of people doing things and a few portraits. I don't want to spend my time coloring a stranger riding a bike or posing for a headshot. Please stop! I enjoy scenes like still-life art, animals, flowers, food, some of the simple objects for a "quickie", and maybe a few scenery shots thrown in. Just about anything except for strangers doing ... well, anything!
I don't recommend this game.

I've played a lot of the Jewel Match games and built a bunch of castles along the way. I was disappointed when, even at Level 44, I couldn't move on to a new castle. My only option was to furnish some rooms in the 1st castle I built. Not sure if this is the way the game is supposed to be or not. I quit after Level 44 out of boredom... stuck with nowhere to go.
The gameplay itself was fun and pretty similar to all the other JM games. I have since purchased a few more JM games and I have really liked all of them.
I don't recommend this game.

I like this type of game, but with this one, I wish the scenes were more identifiable with the state they represent. The scenes could be from anywhere.
I'm about 3/4 done with the main game, but wondering if I will be able to access the bonus scenes. The Barbershop scene, when playing for the last robot and highway shield, didn't have them in the scene. So, when I finished all the modes to play, there is no check mark indicating that scene is complete. It shows that all of the shields and all of the robots have been found, but it didn't have any in the scene. I've played a few extra times on that scene and it goes back to saying there's a shield, robot, AND cat, but there are none.
I don't recommend this game.

This game has 2 modes to play. Regular paint by numbers, which results in great looking quality images (not the dull 50 shades of icky green, drab pictures), and they look like something a real artist might paint!
The other mode is pixel art. I've been looking for something different and didn't even know about pixel art. In this game it is like the rest of the pixel art games, but instead of getting a pixely final result, you get the same great images that you get with the paint by number mode. The rest of the pixel art games I have tried are a big disappointment compared to this one. You start with pixels with them and end up with an image that, sometimes, you still can't figure out!
More Art Coloring, please?
I recommend this game!

I have 3 Art by Numbers games, with #11 being the most recent that I have purchased. I don't play the "Free Color" method very often, but occasionally if I find a scene that I particularly enjoy, or one that means something to me. I chose one after using the color by number method and played it with my own colors. It looked drab and disappointing. Then, I noticed why. This developer gray-shades most of the cells so when you add color, it looks a very drab gray with a slight tint of whatever color you chose. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to look bright and colorful, the way I prefer the scenes to look. The way they look if you play the predetermined color by number mode.
I'm not sure at which game number they started doing this, but it makes me not want to buy any more. What the heck?
WHY? Why, would they do this?... intentionally mess up the scenes? You will lose more customers by doing this than you would if you only offered Color by Number mode with predetermined colors. If you don't want people to enjoy coloring their own, take that feature out instead of using it to cause disgruntled, hard, feelings. I'm ticked! BOO to you, AWIGOR!
If the game only offered the paint by numbers feature, I would give it 5 stars, but since they ruined all the scenes by making them drab and gray (in Free Color mode), I feel I'm being generous to give it 2 stars.
Also, I noticed that the pictures seem to be getting smaller. Like, they may only take up 1/2 or less of the total space of the scene page. Giving people less for the money isn't the way to success.
PS- I'm giving this game a 1 for Visual/Sound Quality based on the Free Color mode.
I don't recommend this game.

This is the second one in the Art by Numbers series that I have purchased. I play when I don't feel like going on a HO Adventure, just kicking back and taking my time. I love the clear, colorful, graphics of the Art By Numbers paintings. Sometimes it's more challenging than you'd think. One thing that brings my review down from 5-Stars is; when a painting is finished, it gives you about a second to admire your masterpiece, then it gets tiny. Could I PLEASE just take my time and admire the painting? Like, an "OK" button when you finish? Or, at least, give us 30 seconds before it disappears!
That being said, I will probaby purchase more of the Art By Numbers games. I'm just hoping the developers will check reviews and let us look at what we've paid for.
I recommend this game!

This would have been a 5-star review, but the fact that you only get about one second to look at your artwork when you finish your painting detracts from the fun for me. It would be nice for a "Done" button when you finish.
I like the fact there is the option to paint, choosing your own colors, but have a suggestion: As far as I could tell, you can't save your colors in case you miss some spots and want to color them later. I can never seem to match the color I had after I move on to other colors.
I recommend this game!

My "big 3", which strongly influence my decision to buy, are:
Strategy Guide
Collectibles, with indicator
Transport map.
This game was fun to play. I especially like games with an indicator of which collectibles I have found in each scene. Sometimes I forget which, if any, I have found when I get into the game. I base my decision to buy mostly on reviews and always look for these Big3. Having a transport map is almost a necessity for me to buy a game. Hey, I get lost easily and can't run up and down the street all night trying to figure out where I made a wrong turn!
This game has 2 special collectibles and one morphing item in every scene. I play strictly for relaxed enjoyment, so it's usually in Casual Mode. The fact that there are 2 collectible cats in each scene may have influenced my star rating... j/k! But, they may have influenced my decision to buy the game.
The Guide was good and cleared up questions on some of the puzzles that I couldn't get started on. I'm not out to break my brain, just to get some easy entertainment.
I recommend this game!

I have purchased more than 80 BF games, since December 2020, most of which are CEs. I would never purchase a CE game that didn't have a Strategy Guide. In the game description, it clearly says there is an "integrated Strategy Guide". Well, there isn't!
I like the rustic appearing graphics in this game. I like that there are many HOS in this game, although I wouldn't want every game to be this way.
Three things that I always look for (and need) before purchasing a game are: Strategy Guide, Transport Map, and some kind of Indicator that you have found the collectibles in each scene. I based this purchase, first on the description provided by BF, and secondly by reading many reviews to make sure a game has the requirements I need and getting a vibe for the game. I also like it when people list what the collectibles are. (This game-Letters, Crayons, and Toys)
Having gotten about 1/3 of the way through, it is fortunate (for me) that the game isn't that difficult. However, I have come to a puzzle where I have no idea of how to get it started. Still working on it, but might have to skip. That's what inspired me to do the review at this point in the game.
If there were any way to return a game, I would return this one and choose a different game, based soley on the fact that there's no Guide.
I don't recommend this game.

Sometimes I feel like I played a different game than the other reviewers! I choose most of my games through reading several top and bottom reviews. Others, I choose from how much I liked previous games in the same series title. And, I rarely play a demo.
Average game, but missing several features I like about some CE games, which are a transport map, a good Strategy Guide, collectible indicator, and something letting me know if there are still activities at any one location. (E.g. Paranormal Files series, for one.)
There was no map and no way to transport between scenes. Although the running from room to room was mostly kept within a few steps, there was one time when I got lost and had to revisit past rooms until I was out of breath from running up and down stairs.
There were a few times when I lost the story line and stumbled through without meaning. It became a quest to complete HOS and to find the hidden collectible object in each scene. I completely lost sight of the story until much later in the game.
There was only one collectible object to find in each scene. No morphs or other collectibles. This is my third Rite of Passage game and it was my least favorite. IMO, graphics, and story, were not as defined as in the other games in this series (Child of the Forest & Embrace of Ember Lake).
The puzzles were fairly easy, but the puzzle “Info” was often unclear. The Info was usually a crude drawing (on a green chalkboard) with an arrow or two that was supposed to indicate what you need to do to solve the puzzle. But, there’s a pretty good Strategy Guide that explained most of the puzzles. The Hint was only used a few times, and usually for the last item on the list of the HOS. I’m pretty sure that was due to my growing impatience with the game. On the bright side, the HOS did not depend on darkness to hide items. This is a major "plus", IMO.
Since there’s no map, it was disappointing when the Strategy Guide says “Return to the Workbench”.. hmm... where was that, anyway? Maybe it’s just me, but I relied heavily on the Strategy Guide.
One amusing aspect is that every time you moved from room to room, you could hear your own footsteps. And, if you were on wood, you could tell, if you were on metal, you could hear the metallic steps, etc. Sounds like the lady could have used some practice walking in heels!
One feature I especially liked is that there’s an indicator to let you know if you found the hidden collectible object or not. I’m a slow player and not including the bonus game, it took me just over 5 hours. I do kick back on the Casual setting and I do wander off at times, leaving the game active.
I'm recommending this game, realizing that I can be pretty picky.
I recommend this game!
