Two stars, because it was better after getting used to how the game works. There are no voices; it's all black-box texts. There are no collectibles, achievements, or morphing objects. No map.
This game absolutely felt like a Standard Edition that was tweaked to make it a Collector's Edition. I.E.- Adding the Strategy Guide and sectioning off the last part of the SE game to turn it into a "bonus chapter". I feel this was an easy way to double-the-money for this game.
First of all, put on your walking shoes! Since there's no map, you have to walk all over the town of Resurrection, NM, many times. I chose this game, because I was hoping to get a brighter, sunnier, version of a hidden object game (being in the Southwest). Not this one, for sure. The town, and everyone in it are dead. Maybe you are seeing it that way because you are having a near-death experience?
Hopefully, you have a good memory so you know where to go when the Strategy Guide says to go to a specific location. After playing a while, you will probably memorize the locations and the easiest way to get there.
One thing I will say; if you like HOS, this has MANY. Nearly every new location, when entering, there is a HOS, and then when you revisit, you play another one on the same HOS, only with a different list. Some hidden objects are difficult to find, because sometimes the objects in the scene are mish-mashed together. Other objects are nearly completely hidden and you can't tell what they are, based on the exposed part of the item. Be prepared to use the Hint a few times. I will say, the many HOS were a plus for me. There are not as many puzzles and they are a breeze to get through. The only drawback on the many HOS is that there were so many that sometimes I forgot where I was going after completing one!
The Strategy Guide is thorough, but is not directly accessible. In order to access the Strategy Guide, you must click on the MENU, then you can choose "Strategy Guide" and then click RESUME to get back to the game. I got used to it, but it was a pain, at first.
The regular play ends abruptly, leaving me feeling like the bonus chapter is necessary for a resolution. I'm not sure I want to play the bonus chapter, because I was really happy, when the game ended...
I wouldn't recommend the game, but you might take to it better than I did. If it weren't for the many HOS, this would be a one-star for me.
I don't recommend this game.

An evil villain is luring people to his beautiful mansion and preparing them for a terrible ritual. Can you keep your head on the shoulders?

I managed to get halfway through the game and realized that there is no map to help when lost. I got lost twice so far and went all over the place trying to find my way when the strategy guide says "go to the playground" (for example). Then I started getting an Access Violation error that kept closing the game. So, I only got halfway through.
There were visible book marks in the journal that looked like a map, achievements, and collectibles, but they were non-functional. There are none. There are zero HOS, no collectibles, no achievements, no morphing objects. It's just a game of mini-puzzles and collecting inventory items to progress in the game.
I joined BF club about 2 months ago and have purchased about 35+ games and this is a first. Maybe I assumed too much after getting used to certain aspects of nearly all of the CE games.
The game drags on and always leaves me thinking there's got to be more. I'm almost glad I errored out and couldn't continue.
Music? I had to turn it way down. It sounded like a soprano constant at a high pitch. Not for me.
I don't recommend this game.
