I bought the game based on the reviews I read. Guess I should have tried it first. There are some nice things about the game. I liked the comic book style for telling the story. I like the characters. But each letter prints out fairly slowly when the story is being told, so you really need to be alert while playing or you'll miss some of it, but it's hard to be alert because it's kind of slow. There is no way to go back and read the part you may have missed. There is also a confusing method of hints. Bullets that you find in the scenes supposedly show you where things are or what to do next. Every time I clicked on a bullet nothing happened. There is a skip button for puzzles, and I needed it several times. Objects that you need are hidden, and I would up randomly clicking to find some of them. They were unfairly hidden, I thought. So in a way I enjoyed playing the game, but it has too many things wrong with it to recommend it.
The hidden object part of this game is just OK. It's supposed to be part of the story, and you help the detective by finding hidden objects. But then you never do anything with them. So you're not helping him after all. There are two types of hidden object scenes, lists and silhouettes. Both are not that hard. I play most games with the sound off, so I never did figure out that the hint magnifying glasses were making a sound to help you find things, as there were no directions. The mini games are mostly easy, but you can skip them if desired by clicking on the Help key, again, no directions. The thing that bothered me the most was the language difficulties. Words used incorrectly, even in the hidden object lists, and very poor grammar. A simple fix would have been to create the whole game, then ask an English-speaking person to make corrections. Must have just been too much trouble.
I quit playing this game finally, just out of sheer frustration. I tried everything I could think of, looked everywhere I could think of, clicked everywhere I could see, and still was unable to move forward in the game. There is a forum, but it's not very helpful. There is no walkthrough for the game. I really didn't like the art work for the game. It just seems kind of flat, with no excitement. So I gave up and quit playing. I definitely do not recommend this game!
I enjoyed playing this game for the most part. The scenes were very clear and objects were easy to find. There wasn't a lot of repetition, as you find in some other games. The characters seemed cute and friendly. The idea of a family going on a trip to California, and then seeing different parts of the state in the scenes, was a good one. But there are many many famous parts of California that weren't even shown. The game was pretty short, so maybe that's why there wasn't room to show more places in the state. I thought there was lots of variety in the game, puzzles to solve that gave players a break from HO scenes. I think this is more a family game, or one mainly for kids. I do recommend it for that group.
I enjoyed playing this game. There is a mystery to solve. While you are doing that you must find hidden objects, take pictures of certain parts of scenes, and find objects by matching them with silhouettes. Sometimes you find objects that you will need to use in the next part of the game. There are also a few minigames. You travel to different parts of Italy to try to solve the mystery. I thought the art work was very good, but some of the scenes were so cluttered that it was challenging to find the objects. There is a good hint system if you get stuck, and it recharges fairly quickly. I would have enjoyed playing this game even longer, but it ends rather abruptly. It would have been better to make the game longer, in my opinion. I do recommend this game!
In this game you need to complete several crossword puzzles. Clues you are given may be definitions or well-known sayings that use the word you need for the puzzle. Once you figure out the word, you have to find the object hidden in the scene. If you're having trouble, wait a minute and a little white circle will fly around. If you can catch it and click on it, you will receive one letter in the word. You can keep doing this until there is only one letter left, and then no more little flying circles. There is also a clue button if you still can't figure it out. After each puzzle is completed you receive a rating of up to 5 stars, depending on whether you needed lots of clues, did too much clicking, etc. I thought this was a very interesting game. I would play it for about a half hour, then come back to it in a few days and play a little more, and so on. That way it doesn't get too frustrating. It's a nice long game, so you really get your money's worth. I definitely recommend this game for those that love words and love hidden object games.
I enjoyed playing this game at first, but after seeing the same scenes over and over, and playing the same kinds of puzzles over and over in between each HO scene, it got kind of boring. Each time you start a HO scene you also see a post card which tells you about that particular location. These are not repeated. When you see a scene for the second or third time, there is different information on the post card each time. About three quarters of the objects you are looking for are clearly drawn, although they may be quite small. But some of the other objects are so tiny or behind something or the same color as the background that you need help to find them. The coin system in the game is helpful, either for giving hints or for giving you extra points. In summary, this is not a bad game, but it does get boring from all the repetition. If I played it again I would spread it out over several weeks. I do recommend the game, but don't try to play it all at once.
In this game you have to free some people trapped in a magical diary. You travel back and forth a lot, collect a lot of items, complete many hidden object scenes, and solve a lot of puzzles. The graphics were not always clear. The hidden object scenes are frequent, and you repeat each scene a few times, and at times looking for the same items. The cursor has to touch some of the items in the exact right place or you can't select them. At one point I clicked on an item at least 10 times (getting the green smoke for clicking too much) before the item was selected. The puzzles were OK - interesting, but if you ran into a problem there was a skip button. The hint button took forever to reload, and it was really only good in the HO scenes. In other places all you could do is drag an item to the hint button in order to see where it is used. At the end of the game you have to travel back to each area in the game again and complete a HO scene. This definitely wasn't the worst game I've ever played, and there are parts that are interesting. It seems like an older game. I would recommend it but advise you to wait for a sale or use one of your free games.
I enjoyed playing this game. It's basically hidden object scenes and puzzles. You get tools you need from the hidden object scenes, and the puzzles usually open something that has been closed or hidden. Where the challenge comes in is not having any kind of hint system other than when you're doing the HO scenes. I was puzzled a few times about what to do next and had to flounder around, backtrack, and try different things before I found something that worked. I thought the art work was beautiful and enjoyed following the progress of the story throughout the game. I recommend this game as well as the sequels that follow, which are more sophisticated.
I recommend this game!

Strange Cases: The Tarot Card Mystery
FBI Agent Claire Ellery must follow the tarot cards left by an anonymous source to solve this sinister and bizarre case.
Your goal in this game is to solve the mystery. Three girls disappeared in a town, and your job is to find them. You are helped by finding tarot cards all over the place. There are 3 colors of tarot cards which indicate whether you are to find hidden objects, fragments, or silhouettes of objects. Each time you finish a card you get something new in your inventory that you can use further on in the game. Everything is mostly linear and action takes place in a small area (3 or 4 rooms). When you finish one area then you move to the next one, and each area takes you further towards solving the mystery. I enjoyed playing this game. The hidden object scenes were not always clear, and some were dark, so I often needed to use the hint button. This recharged fairly quickly, so it wasn't a problem. The game was fairly short, and fairly easy. I do recommend this game, as long as you don't mind the negatives that were mentioned.
