I really enjoyed this game! No, the story isn't new but well done and entertaining and a storyline that can be done over and over but never get dull. The game had a good length, map was excellent, mixed HO games, and since I don't care for the puzzles, most were easily completed. Has voice overs, which I don't care for text conversation, and conversation was only used to tell the story, which is all you need. I will be replaying this one in a few weeks and is a keeper. I waited for the SE as no strategy guide needed.
Yes, not great graphics but kind of cartoonlike, but goes with the theme of the game. Voice overs you don't have to click continue to continue the conversation. HOs are fairly easy and had a different kind where there was no list and you had to move the mouse around to find glowing spots. Puzzles so far have not been difficult and I don't care for puzzles so this works for me. It was getting interesting when the demo was over so had to buy so I could continue. Definitely not a CE but very nice SE game. Got to go so I can find out how it ends; will have a fun-filled couple of hours.
Deep in the heart of an enchanted forest, a forbidden love blooms. Guide the human Eveline as she sets out to rescue her beloved from the clutches of a tyrant.
Definitely not a HO but a slow moving adventure. It seemed to lag to me, maybe that isn't a good description, as I don't know how to explain how unsmooth this game goes. Even the voice overs with conversation balloons is weird. I didn't finish the demo as I was really bored with this one. This adventure is not a fast moving adventure; I don't even think the adventure game fanatics will enjoy this one. The story might have been good if you could bring yourself to go further.
i love the Grim Tales games but this one I find difficult and I seemed to be looking for help more than I prefer to do. There are so many things to do and remember, you definitely need to take notes or you will get lost; or need a great memory. Story follows the same theme as others that have a ghoul school storytelling. I am going to have to think about this one as not sure it is all that much fun to feel so lost in what to do next. Maybe I will just have to get out a big tablet so I can make an outline of what I need and where it needs to be used. There is such a thing as challenging and then there is almost impossible and I find this to be close to impossible without help. If you are an Einstein, you will probably love this and give it a 5 star rating.
I found this game to be boring and not a real challenge...you find something and can use it almost immediately. Felt like I was being led to the next step and finished a scene very quickly. Music was annoying with the same few sounds going on and on. Scene change down arrow was not very interactive and the inventory log opened then you had to click down again to return to prior scene; didn't seem that any of the scene changes worked smoothly. I wouldn't buy this game but some may finding it entertaining. Visual quality was pretty poor compared to what the better games have and story line was ok. This game could have been better if interaction, visuals, and sounds were more up to par with the better games out there. Pretty low quality all around.
I have enjoyed all Mystery trackers except Void, which really bored me and was hard to follow. The hints with this series is the same, just gives you text hints to help you out and not the easy hints that gives you exact instructions, so you do need to use your brain. Based on the demo, not real sure about the story line yet and was just getting to the plot when demo ended. . Elf, the doggie, is back to fetch for you and you do have your powers to use once you find them. I did question one thing as odd; you find a mutant tortoise that the game calls a Toad....not sure that was a good idea. Not sure if I will get the CE or wait for the SE but I do enjoy the Mystery Trackers series, so will be getting it.
No voice over and beginning conversation caption is too fast to read. No map and help is not any help. 1st puzzle is an impossibility to complete and HOs are way too easy. I played 29 minutes and when i couldn't find out what was wrong in the bathtub, I quit and deleted. Also, there are only 1 or 2 tasks in a room and very simple. I wouldn't even recommend to a beginner as so many things make no sense or don't work properly. I did a 3 on storyline as didn't get far enough to know how good or bad it was, but I do like scary stories. Don't even waste your time by doing a trial...this is one for the garbage can.
I was thrilled when this came out and I don't even think I played the demo before buying the CE. The other 1000 Doors have been so good and followed their same theme, but this one went in a different direction. Didn't even have doors that when you tried to open them, they disappeared. This probably would have been an OK game if it wasn't in a series, but I feel they ruined it. I did finish it but got lazy and bored and used lots of hints. Very, very disappointed. I hope they never do this again and keep in the storyline of the previous awesome 1000 Doors.
I only play Match 3 games when I am really bored and want something that I can start and stop without loosing where I am. I was entertained until it told me I had played all the rounds for Match 3 Swap and I would have to start over or play the Group or Chain Match 3 and I don't like either of these versions. Why do they force you to play another version to continue? I would have given this a 3 1/2, maybe 4 rating, but then they had to throw this wrench into the mix. I am so glad I didn't rate this game earlier in my play as it would have been incorrect. We should not be forced to play a style of play that we do not like as we paid for the game and we should be able to continue for the reason we did pay. I do not recommend this game unless you don't mind being told what to do.
A murderous figure in a red mask haunts the streets of a small French town, and the mayor needs your help to track him down. But you soon discover that the mysterious Red Masque might not be the real criminal…
I am so surprised that there is another Dark Tales after Gold Bug was released not too long ago. I love this series and also love the fact that the Help is actually a Help instead of just in the HO games. This is a beautiful game and I usually don't buy the CE version, but just couldn't wait. I have only played the Demo but know I am going to absolutely love this game. Yes, story is similar to others, but who cares, as that is the way it is in all things just like TV shows. Again, can not tell you how much I love this series and so glad they now give you more tools; except for the map; it does not show you objectives as you only have jumping option. OK, going to load the rest of the game and have an unproductive day as I will be playing on the computer. One more thing, and I have complained about this before...why does BF give bundle specials on these new games in a series? If they are good, you probably already have the other games in the series so it does not do us loyal users any benefit at all. Come on BF, give us something we can actually use!
