Governor of Poker is one of my favorite games, so when #2 came out, I had to give it an immediate try. It has all the great elements of the first game, but includes some really great enhancements. One of the most fun enhancements is being able to change your hat color AND being able to buy different hats as you progress. As I said in my review of the original game, I suck at poker big time. But these two games are still a lot of fun to play and I do come back to them every so often. For those who can play poker and actually win once in a while, this game would have to be a perfect fit. The graphics a beatuiful and the voice overs are perfect. There's enough of a story line to engage players who want more than just a poker hand to bet on. If they come out with a #3 - I'd like to be able to be the piano player. If I play the piano well enough, I'll get poker chips as tips and that's how I'll earn enough to buy the town and eventually the state and be the big winner! OK game creaters - pick yourselves up off the floor, get the histerical laughter under control and start working on that next game!
I recommend this game!

This is a great game, especially for poker fans or for those wanting to learn how to play. The graphics are beautiful and the voice overs are perfect. I learned two things from playing this game (and I do go back and play it from time to time). I learned how to play poker. And even more important, I learned that in real life, I should never, EVER play poker for real money, becaues I suck at it big time! Knowing the basics on how a game is played doesn't automatically translate into being a good or effective player - and that's me in a nut shell. I know the basics - and I'm lucky if I'm not the first one to leave the table! But the game is fun. Like I said, I come back to it from time to time.
I recommend this game!

The first Gardenscapes was a great game, and I occasionally go back to it and play a few rooms just for fun. This game - Gardenscapes Mansion Makeover - is even more fun. The graphics are excellent and the characters are fun as well. It's entertaining to click on the guy and his dog to see what they'll do.
I have one complaint and if there is a third gardenscapes, I hope they get it right this time. You always get a choice of three items each time you make a purchase - one of the choices always seems to fall beautifully into a 'red' themed mansion. I love it and really enjoyed the final results.
Then I played it a second time, looking forward to a new color scheme. That's when I realized the game's big flaw. There is no second or third distinct color scheme. You mostly get choices of white - or once in a while a blue.
I don't see why the creators of the game couldn't have set up the other two choices as two additional distinct color schemes. A stronger blue scheme distinct from the white theme. Or perhaps a green scheme instead of a white scheme.
The sad part is, since they had to create all the items to choose from, following three distinct color schemes would not have cost them any additional time. It can't take any longer to color a lamp blue than it does to color it white or red or green.
I had to force myself to finish my second time playing the game because I was determined to verify if there was another good color scheme than red. I just finished the game using anything but red items. The choices if you are not using red, as I said earlier, are basically white. There appears to be somewhat of an effort to go with blue - but there weren't enough items in blue to make it as much fun or as intense or complete as the red.
If the game did offer 3 strong, distinct color schemes, it would have gotten stright highest marks from me. Please note that the extra low rating I gave to Visual/Sound Quality was due to my issue with the color scheme. The music with the game is good and the quality of the graphics is excellent.
I recommend this game!

Not all players of games have 20/20 vision. Some of us have old or not so perfect eyes. The font used in this game is ridiculously small. The objects in the HO scenes are, in some cases, nearly miniscule. The challange of a good game should not be whether you can see what you're doing. Like others who have reviewed this game, there is far too much dialoge to wade through (making the too small font even more of an issue). The basic concept for the game is good. The execution is not good at all. I cannot recommend this game.
I don't recommend this game.

I refuse to change the display settings on my compter just to play a game. In many of the games I download from BigFish, By going to full window I get a larger display. Not just in size of the game window, but in font size, etc., as well. The font on this game is just too small for me to even try to play it. Switching to full window did not change the size of the font at all. If you have any kind of challenged vision, then this game is not a good choice for you. The sad thing is, there is absolutely NO reason why the creators of games occasionally resort to using such small fonts. I'm just grateful that most games have fonts that are large enough to read. Whether the font is a readable type is another issue.
I don't recommend this game.

This game makes me wonder what's happened to the quality of BigFish games lately. There have been too many games like this one and I'm concerned.
This game would be acceptable as a FREE download for younger kids. It's a rehash - almost identical except for graphics - to so many of the solitaire games these days.
It's definately not an adult game. It's definately not a new concept or even a decent twist on an old concept.
It's absolutely not worth spending any money on.
I cannot recomment this game because BigFish expects you to pay for it.
I don't recommend this game.

I just finished playing the 60 mins trial, and this game flew to the top of my list of games to buy next!
It has beautiful graphics and the storyline is engaging. It left me eager to purchase and finish the game.
For a long time now, the HOG's I've been seeing have object lists that are just too long. It's as tho the HO scenes have taken on a "find everything including the kitchen sink" nature. The HO's in this game are not too long, nor are they too short. They are challenging, but each of them includes a couple of easy to find objects that keeps me from feeling that I've suddenly come to a grinding halt in playing the game.
This game is a definite step up from the quality of HOG's I've been seeing in the past few months.
Thank you Big Fish - THIS is the kind of game I expect from you and for the first time in a long while, you've not disappointed me!
I recommend this game!

This would be a good HO game except that, once again, the HO list uses a font that is hard to see (color of font against color of background), size AND most important, hard to read because of the font type. It is too fancy to be readable at that size. There is NO reason why the HO list can't be done in a clean, clear, arial type of font that would makine finding the objects the hard part - not reading the list. I had to give the game the lower ratings because of the font problems. They really do take the level of game fun down for me.
I recommend this game!

This is a very well done HO - and except for the too small and too ornate font used for the HO lists, it is beautifully drawn. I also really enjoyed having to use something from my inventory to find an object in the HO. I played the full hour available for the demo and will definately buy the full version.

This has got to be my favorite game. I'm obviously an addict since I keep coming back to play it over and over. The three levels (kids, regular and advanced), lets any level of experience enjoy a challenge. The professor is totally adorable as he pitty-pats #that's what his little footsteps stound like# his way around the puzzles, pushing things, climbing ladders, shooting fire or ice pistols and making temporary bridges. I also get a real chuckle out of his antics if you happen to leave him idle for a few minutes. The game has everything a puzzle lover could want. The graphics are wonderful. The sound track can be turned off if it becomes annoying. I also appreciate the way you can individually set up the game controls for using your collected items #blow up barrels and boxes, fire and ice pistols, temporary bridges) by pressing the number keys at the top of your keyboard OR by using the number pad.
I recommend this game!
