This review is based on the demo only. Initially I had some trepidation about checking out this game as the other reviewers emphasized that there was a significant "creep factor" to this game and I'm not into creepy. There is definitely creep factor as you are a character that wakes up in a place you have no clue how you got to and you are in the "puzzle of your life" to try to get out of. Many moments of "agh" and jumping in your skin. You appear to be at the mercy of a young girl who is definitely sociopathic and you have no clue why. You wake up and have no choice but to engage in finding your way out of this puzzle. As you progress you start to recall how you came to be where you are. You get to make choices which at first I found intimidating but was okay. Even if you guess wrong, the story continues. For me, what made this a great game is that you get to use your logic and gaming skills to save yourself! You are motivated to solve this puzzle! And what you do makes sense! Puzzles are at a nice level of challenge. HOPS are pretty easy There is a map to jump but the progression is very tight so objectives are close to where you are. No jumping back to some level eons ago to pick up or use some remote object. . Many things about this game are a bit outside the box. Very entertaining. You get really caught up and wonder where the time went. Super game. I'm loving it.
I generally like fantasy games and the premise is nice. You are enlisted to help a childhood friend that in a parallel world is actually a queen. Story took awhile to get going.Would have been better if there was a better "buy in" for why this friend was going to engage in this quest other than a quick reference to a photograph. I felt a tug of interest at one point but lost it fairly quickly. Logic to the game wasn't always clear. Had to use the hint a lot initially to get a grip on the flow of the game. Big drawback for me was when the map was finally introduced, everytime you jumped to another scene you jumped into a different background music. Very jarring. Once you reach the portal level you immediately have to move to several scenes to get what you need from scenes before so the pacing is really odd for experienced gamers. Nice idea but for me the game was very disjointed on many levels. Even as a coupon, would not buy.
This is a really great game. Very interactive. You can check out the story line from previous reviewers for details of the story. If you have played a lot of games and are looking for a game to spark your interest this game is it. You have to interact with your inventory to solve the HOPS (nice touch). There are layers to places but they are logical so you are not jumping around to complete random tasks. You are using your gifts. Music is good which is always a plus for me. I don't do well with morphing objects as I can never obtain them as I am too caught up in the story. There aren't any in this game (unless I'm missed them all LOL) and runes are fairly easily found. Very entertaining game.

Really nice game. As others have said, check out the earlier reviews for details of the extras, etc. (I have never been a morphing achievement fan because I get caught up in the story and can't see them but this game does a nice job with that to support paying the CE price.) This is an entertaining game. Better than the movies because you get to be a part. The sound is great. There are enough "gotcha" moments to make it fun. Not too scary but enough to keep one wanting to keep playing to find out what happens and to keep the plot moving. Puzzles are not hard. There is a nice intuitive level that keeps things moving for those wanting more of a challenge. Entertaining game.
For those of you who are not football fans and would love to have entertainment that works better for you, this game delivers. As noted in previous reviews, you are a young nurse, sent to help a doctor who is a friend of your mother (who is a doctor). The town is in turmoil and you are launched into finding the truth behind the plague.
The story is engrossing. The music adds to suspense and doesn't repeat. You interact with various characters with good voiceovers. The HOS are good. Multilayered, each ending in a riddle that leads to the item you are looking for. Items are used close enough to your finding them to be logical so those who love to figure out what to do next will be happy. The puzzles are medium in difficulty at least in the demo. Very nicely done. Even though it is set in a historical frame, nice to have strong women characters in what was then not traditional roles. Enjoy!

It's been awhile since I've seen a game that I was so engrossed in while playing the demo that I was startled when the time was up and couldn't wait to BUY to keep going. I find reviews helpful because they clue me in on the special features that I often missed in early scenes because I didn't know what I was looking for. However lately I found myself bored despite rave reviews so I started playing games without them to see what I really thought. which is how I started this game.
You are a Mom buying groceries and in a midst of a call with your son you get whisked away to a land being tormented by 4 horsemen and you are the Chosen One. A fact you still aren't really aware of. Early on, you run into a sage/hermit who starts you on your journey to figure out what is going on, which is a really fun way to play this game. You can be as lost as the main character!
The people figures are a little puppetlike but otherwise the artwork is really nice. The scenes are sweetly drawn and complex. There are collectables and morphing objects (one of each in each new scene) to find. I have never been a fan of morphing objects as my eyes just don't see them when I'm focused on the story, but the map is nice as it indicates if there is one to find in a scene that you didn't find. (Yea! I have a chance now!) There are manuscript pieces to find that help explain the story. There is a nice gap between finding objects and using them but not so far that you can't figure out what to do with them. It also has the option of simply stating the object you are trying to use doesn't work there for those hard core folks who are playing without any hints or prompts. The HOPs are interesting as you have to find objects to find other objects and they are nicely challenging so not just a list of "find its" in a pile. Puzzles are challenging as well although there haven't been many yet. The game overall allows players to really adjust the level of challenge that makes it fun for him or her. The music adds to the ambience without being repetitious and annoying. Very well done game, one I can't wait to get back to. Enjoy!
This game was so fun. It's been awhile since a game really pulled me into the story. I think we will forgive many graphic issues etc if the storyline is really tight and this one is. The basic storyline is that you are participating with three friends in a "research study" that pays well. You are late and your three friends get involved in a trap that you have to rescue them by playing "the game" as well even though you recognize the rules are absurd. You are coerced into playing in order to save them. There is a nice mix of feeling questionable about the authorities that may be helping you, that you want to find out who are the good guys and who are not. This game has great chemistry. The characters you meet along the way keep you motivated to achieve your goal. There is a nice blend of puzzles, hogs, find the flowers that keeps the story moving in a really nice way that doesn't feel artificial and lets you get really involved in the story. The music is not distracting and adds a nice dimension. The flow is very logical and you can figure things out like the main character would which adds to feeling part of the story. For those who want the added satisfaction of finding achievements" they blend nicely into the story and are not a distraction. A really fun game.
I really like games by Epix. This one is in keeping with their style. You are a writer following in your grandfather's footsteps and you find that he is caught up in a situation that involves fairies and Pixies. If you like storylines that deal with magic with an Irish theme you will like this game. In keeping with their other games you run into characters along the way and you get to choose how you respond to them. Puzzles are not hard although there is some degree of having to figure out what the rules are to play them, but once you do they are pretty easy. Characters are well drawn. HOPs interactive with multiple layers. Music is Irish in style. I found this game very fun to play. My only criticism is that the main character could have been fleshed out a bit better at the start of the game for a better identification with the main character. For some, this game may be fine as an SE. The fairy shoes are fairly easy to find although as usual it gets tougher as the game progresses. Overall, fun to play and a great escape!
This is a truly great game. What makes this a great game is that there is a lot to do (CE quality) but the tasks are part of the game not an add on that distracts one. With so many CE's I like the fun of the achievements but feel faced with choosing between getting totally absorbed in the story or finding all the achievements. The HOPs are of good quality as they are not too busy but objects are nicely blended into the scene (ie the green feather in the fern). Music is a big factor for me and this game delivers. The music adds to the ambience but doesn't drive one mad by the end of the game! Only flaw is one noted in other reviews. It would be nice if Sasha and the other characters were not quite so wooden so one could identify with them and feel drawn to complete the mission. Other than that, an outstanding game and a must buy for me.
You thought this would be just like any other investigation. But now you find yourself lost in a mysterious mansion brimming with strange creatures, comatose colleagues, and mysterious tentacles around every corner…

I too had bowed out of reviewing and even buying as I had found there was not much challenge anymore. The developers had done too good a job. I was trained!. But this game hits it. Lots to do. A good story line. Good twists to challenge the grey cells (use a crab for scissors!) that bring back the spark of challenge that used to be there when all was new . I loved this game. The music does not intrude so you don't have to turn off the sound. The map is very helpful. One can indulge in capturing all the achievements or not. One can enjoy this game as a beginner or a crusty "expert". Nicely done and I am glad to have a fun game to play again.
