I'm not a big fan of these types of games but needed something different and this fit the bill. I did decide to buy the CE instead of this version after playing the demo.
To the other commentor in regards to CE vs regular versions: these are always clearly marked and even the game image is different. They didn't pull a "fast one" at all. Its incumbent upon US to check if we're wanting the collectors or special edition.
This is a completely different game so if you're looking for the typical gather resources thing, this isn't it.
You need to strategize everything - research, rescue personnel, equipment, building placement - everything. You need to take your time so getting through levels quickly isn't going to happen.
It's brilliantly done and this is game that is long overdue.
The amount of time needed to wait for resources is a huge downer for me on this one. Also not being able to access the guide for the level until you're done with it. I love this series but this one missed for sure.
Sure feels like this one was sitting on someone's shelf for about 20 years before they decided to dust it off. It's a typical resource gather/build bridges/etc game but the play is clunky. The characters move slowly, buildings have a timer on how long it takes to get it built...it's just very...old style/school. There's isn't a lot of explanation of gameplay, either.
But...the waiting for supplies kind of kills it for me. Some will say that you aren't planning correctly but I have to disagree. Most of the time I spent playing (and I bought it) was on waiting for supplies.
The graphics, storyline, music even is just fine but the game play was slow. I wish developers would just let the supplies be automatically collected instead of having the characters run back to home base.
Finally a TM game! This one is nice and carries on the theme from the other release. Game flows well, upgrades can be obtained pretty easily. It's a pretty basic TM.
The issues: the bubbles that pop up for what the guests want. In some instances, the color that separates different choices is hard to see (maybe old eyes? :) ). The click field in one section is difficult - one item but two click fields so its easy to complete an item and have it wrong. There are levels where the guests come in SO fast (on regular/no timer mode) that it's almost impossible to get everyone taken care of before the hearts drop.
All in all, fun game - I didn't have any glitches/errors.
Love the games from this developer!! Loved it so much that when I saw this released, I didn't waste time with the demo.
The game play is what you're expecting; graphics and music are what you're expecting. My only complaint really is the fact that gathering resources on this one is difficult at best. You have the stumps that regenerate resources but it feels like they're slower than before which means you're sitting around waiting for more to show up before you can do anything.
One level is impossible to get by because of this issue. (I've replayed 4 times, using different tactics each time and I'm still stuck so I'll have to wait for a walk thru to show up.
It just seems a lacking this time around. I'll recommend it but be prepared to get frustrated.
(3 on the storyline because I never read that stuff)
It's a good one and yes, it does move quickly but it's not un-manageable. Is it challenging? Sure is but you're able to prep grill items as well as the juice (drinks) so if you've got that set up, the levels should flow nicely.
I say similar to the Bob/Katy series because the set up is similar - grill, station where John makes his dishes, juice station and juice slushy station. You've got the level goals (serve 3 menus in a row, pay out 3 customers in a row, etc.)
Your little robot buddy is actually helpful - removing items you're cooking from the grill and picking up coins. I'm not sure what else it does, if anything.
If you're a TM affectionado and like the Bob/Katy and similar series, I think you'll like this. I'm not sure what the CE offers aside from a walkthru, wallpapers and music (I think).
Typical hunter/gatherer game with a pirate ship battle thrown in. At least it walks you through how to fight the enemy ships. The hunter/gather part of the game is...meh. Nothing out of the ordinary, including finding the hidden item on each level.
I dont 'see any thing CE about this game. I think I saw 40 levels plus the 10 bonus levels. I'd wait til the regular version comes out.
Sure, it's a little basic and yes you have to figure things out for yourself but it's not a bad little game. These restaurant type TM are always compared to the Delicious Emily series (the standard IMO). Try the demo - I think you'll be surprised.
