Its not often we come across a game that offers a great story, high visual and sound quality, a fair amount of challenging gameplay and not to mention a fun factor that makes you want to re-play a game. Myths of the World: Chinese Healer certainly offers all of the above and much more and I am sure that it will make the list for top games of 2013.
Our story takes place in China and playing the role of Daiyu, (Wait for it.....) legendary Healer, we must save the Emperor's son, Jinhai from a mysterious illness. Obviously someone is after the thrown and with the help of Bo, Friend to the ailing Prince, we must save the prince and stop a sinister plan from taking place.
Grphics and art-work are excellent along with voice-overs, ambient sound and musical track, all enhancing the gameplay experience. You have three play modes to choose from, one depicted as Insane and it will definitely appease the appetites of hard-core players who enjoy a challenging game.
A Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game that offers extras like achievements and collectables. A journal with a list of objectives and a map that will also allow you to travel and indicate progress. HO scenes are interactive and there is also the choice to switch over to Mahjong which I am sure fans will love. Puzzles are intricate and somewhat challenging and there is also the Healer's Kit that you will need to use from time to time.
The Bonus section offers extra HO games and Bonus Games to play. As I understand, the Bonus chapter also offers an ending to our story. SOme may find this unfair however, in this case, Myths of the World is definitely worth CE cost. Besides, today BFG offers a sale so I doubt that this will be an issue for many.
I could go on writing to you about this game but I am anxious to spend this rainy Saturday afternoon playing it. I am sure that once gamers go through the demo, they will agree that this game offers what is rarely seen in games: the WOW factor. Kudos to the Developers who brought us Amaranthine: The Tree of Life and Final Cut; all equally brilliant games to play.
I recommend this game!

In the previous game, we saved Lynn from the evil Witch Elizabeth, who had killed off the entire family so that she could get access to Lynn's powers. Our story continues and as gaurdian and protector, we realize that Lynn's powers are beginning to awaken and it seems that Elizabeth is once again back in the picture and so our adventure begins.
With wonderful graphics, well animated voice-overs and beautiful artwork, Witches' Legacy offers a somewhat challenging HOPA with many extras to keep it entertainig. Main menu offer three choice of game play with the option to customize which I prefer. Game features a journal along with a map that will alow you to travel to areas of interest. Also in the mix is an adorable sidekick, the little imp that helps us with certain hard to reach tasks; I named mine Trix.
The extras I mentionned earlier are a series achievements that include several tasks such as interacting with your imp throughout the game, finding morphing objects in every scene and locating all 42 pieces of a puzzle. Hidden Object scenes are somewhat junk-piled and interactive, but you do have the option of switching over to a mini-game which requires you to find matching pairs. To add to all this, there are a variety of mini-games throughout the game that are well executed and offers some challenge to the game.
Throughout the demo, there wasn't anything I did not like about the story; a touch of suspense and intrigue that draws us into the plot. I liked the characters and enjoyed the adventure. A great game to add to one's collection and an excellent sequel. Bravo to the developers and thank you BFG for starting off our week-end with a touch of magic.
I recommend this game!

After having proposed to his sweetheart, Alan and Catalina go off to Mexico to get her Father's blessing, arriving just in time for the annual Day of the Dead celebration. Calavera, better known as The Day of the Dead is a Mexican national holiday celebrated throughout Mexico that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember their departed loved ones. Unfortunately for Alan, it also becomes a day of Dread when Catalina is abducted at the train station by a skeletal figure and takes her away to the land of the dead where Alan must now go to in order to save her.
Calavera is your standard HOPA game with unimpressive graphics, hand-drawn artwork making it look slightly dated, voice-overs and a musical track that I found paticularily annoying. There are three play modes to choose from and unless you play the hard mode, you get distracting sparkles everywhere and too many annoying black bar hints.
Dispite my initial disapointment with the visuals, I did enjoy the quirky sense of humour from the talking journal that also acts as your hint system and your guide. You also get a map that does allow you to travel to areas of interests.
There are puzzles tosolve, items to retrieve and slightly interactive HO scenes that are somewhat junk-piled. Mini-games are interesting, some done in an arcade style which I found both challenging and frustrating. There are extras like finding 26 sugar skulls and earning achievements along the way. Each skull also provides you with extras like replaying a game or a sketch of the artwork.
If you can get pass the graphics and the looped sound track, the game does offer moments. However what I found most annoying is the slowness of some actions that you are required to take, for instance it takes forever to unscrew the screws or place some items back to their place, A bit over-exaggerated and unnecessary that gives a lag to the pace of gameplay.
I initially gave this game a three stars but the extras prompted me to add another star. However, I personally will either wait for a sale on CE games or for the Standard edition to come out. I liked it but just just didn't love it enough. Tenga usted un buen fin de semana. ( Have a good week-end)
I recommend this game!

If like me, you are a fan of the Dark Parables series, The Final Cinderalla will not disappoint, especially fans who enjoy FROGs. However to be honest, I bought the CE edition and oddly enough, I got board half waythrough the game only to realisethat I am definitely not a fan of the Fragmented Hidden Objects genre. After a while I find them enourmously tedious and the HO scenes seem to tire my eyes. Neverthe less, the game is enchanting and has alot to offer gamers.
Once again we assume the role of Detective and our new mission is to uncover the plot of the wicked Godmother before she brings havoc into our world. Her objective is to find the one and only Cinderalla and use her pure soul to awaken her dead lover. She apparently goes through a number of young girls, turning them into glass. It is now up to us to save Cinderalla and bring about a happy for everafter ending to this adventure.
As always these developers are to be complimented on their graphics and truely beautiful artwork. Voice overs are minimal and only during the cut scenes. There are three play modes and you also have a choice to turn off sparkles. Game features a diary, task list and a map that shows areas of interest.
As I mentionned, I am not a huge fan of FROGs therefore it really comes down to personal preferences. I suppose that is why I gave the CE game only a four star rating. Having bought the game, I now wish I had waited for the SE version.
The Game play was relatively easy and straightforward, mini-games are very well conceptualized but unfortunately very easy to play. You have parables notes to collect that unlock various fables in your diary and also morphing objects to find throughout the game.
FOr those who opted not to get the CE (Bonus chapter offers a new story on the Oriental Cinderalla), then by all means, do not miss the SE version. The Final Cinderalla is beautiful to look at with mesmerizing scenes and an enchanting storyline not to mention that the series has always proven to be a favorite amongst many gamers. A good solid 4 star HOPA that many will sure to enjoy.
I recommend this game!

After a short hiatus from BFG which regretfully was due to some political upset in my city, I am happy to be back to my games. And what a way to start the week-end, with one of my favorite developers. Today our story brings us back that horrible looking lille man who seriously gives me the heebie jeebies. I sware he looks like one of my great Uncles who passes away, (RIP) who incidently was a very unpleasant man. Enough said, our story begins with a murder which is right up my alley. As the lead detective hired by the victim's sister, I need to solve his death as well as find the missing ancient Book of Wishes, Vox.
As always, the bunny group brings us excellent graphics with sharper than ever artwork, great animations and voice-overs, all enhanced by terrific ambient sounds and the usual musical tracks. There are three game modes to choose from which can be re-adjusted during gameplay. You have your diary with various sections, your hint system and a map that does allow you to travel. You have a list of achievements, sevral collectables which I will mention later along with a necklace which requires you to find the missing parts.
A standard HOPA with many interesting puzzles to solve items to find and use along with a variety of HO scenes which really changes the pace of the game. I love that these developers are moving away from the standard HO scenes and are adding a variety into the mix. There are HO scenes where you find the silohettes, replace objects and locate the list. Mini-games are an assortment of well conceptualized puzzles that start off easy but do get a bit more complicated as you move along.
What really grabbed me was the garden and that is where real fun begins. Throughout the game you find seeds which you need to plant, water and collect. Each flower will bring earn you money and as you plant and grow, you start cross breeding to earn more. This does takes you away from the game but I did love the diversion. Along with the garden, there are also ghosts that you need to appease and in order to do that, you must locate the spirits which will give you a token that unseals a letter. After haveing opened each seal, you earn a surprise, for instance I got my hint to re-charge faster.
As always, alot of ground to cover and alot to do and in the meantime, you get to solve a murder while you run into that evil imp from time to time.
A winner in my books and a definite buy from me. I do believe that our Bunny Group is getting better and better with thier games and I cannot wait to play this game tonight. Have a great week-end everyone.
I recommend this game!

Wow! I cant believe I almost missed this gem. Fans of adventure games will definitely enjoy this thrilling ride set in a fantasy land of Namerial. A terrible Iron Lord along with his army of mechanical soldiers have taken oveer the Kingdom of Namerial, killing both the King and Queen. The only one to have ecaped is their infant dayghter and 18 years later, our adventure begins and it is now up to sto save our land and fight the forces with the help of our dear little robot Jim. An Exciting adventures without any HO scenes, many puzzles to solve and entertaining mini-games to play.
Graphics are 2D animation that are bright in color and sharp. Voice-overs are well animated as is the music that keeps the sence of urgency throughout the game. Game feature two play modes, no sparkles but helpful hints do poşnt the way. A cute little robot is at your side who will fetch objects that are out of reach. You also have a mind reader gizmo that will read the minds of animals and unusual characters along the way.
I loved the demo and cant wait to start over. The game is both somewhat challenging but not so much that you would need a SG. There are lots to do and achievements to earn. I almost missed this one and really am surprise that it was offered yesterday. Adventure Lovers, dont miss this game, defintiely a great time to be had. DOnt know how long it is and really dont care. I have free game credits that have been sitting around for sometime. At last, something has come along. These developers almost never disappoint!
I recommend this game!

This review is dedicated to Maggie Maze who reminded me that sometimes tough love is good for the soul.
Here we have a case of Developers getting lazy and predictable. Can anyone say Deja Vu? The third installmet of the Dark Dimension series has arrived and for the life of me, I really dont understand why they bothered. All they really did was to change the storyline, alter the scenery and that really is about it. The first game had us fighting off a supernatural fog, the secod was avoiding turning into wax, now we have volcanic ash and seriously, could this game get any lamer?
Phoenix Hill is the latest site to be struck by our infamous Dark Dimension. A volcano has erupt and the city is covered into ashes. A ghostly figure of a young girl beckons us and from the letters I have picked up, it seems her Father is behind this.
Once again a game not worth a CE price tag. Substandard graphics, hazy at times and a mixture of blurred live footages and hand drawn sceneries. It looks like they couldnt decide on a look they wanted. There are voice overs and over dramatic music that I found rather annoying after a while. You have three play modes to choose from and the obligatory extras for those who enjoy the screen saver and what-nots. You have a diary and a map that only allows you to travel. There are also collectable which I have yet to come across and have no idea what I am looking for.
My first complaint is TOO MANY Hidden object scenes and not enough adventure. Mini games were so far on the simple side and nothing we havent seen before. Absolutely no challenge what-so-ever and no extras to make this game remotely interesting. After Forty-five minutes , I got bored and decided that I really couldn't care less about the whys and hows of the storyline. Been there and Done that! Therefore O little town of Phoenix, you will have to wait for me when you arrive as a SE game.
I don't recommend this game.

Congradulations to everyone at Bunnyland for their 50th game. Once again they bring us another enchanting storyline enrichd with colorful characters, animated voice-overs, beautiful graphics, colorful artwork and wonderful sound effects. As always, their attention to details never ceases to amaze me. I love watching movement in my games like the fluttering of the butterfly wing and the sounds of birds chirping away in the background. Somehow they always manage to bring our story alive which makes playing their games even more enjoyable.
Today our story is about sisterly love and sacrifice. How one sister gives up her soul to an evil witch in order to save her sibling from a crippling disease. Now we must save her from her selfless act and enter a magical world where we meet up with an assortment of lively characters like a dashing prince, a poetic troll, an assortment of adorable animals and many others who need our help along the way.
A delightful HOPA game that offers three play modes which you can change during the game. Game features include a journal and an interactive map that allows you to travel to areas of interest. You are given an amulate that holds mystical powers with each stone you collect and best of all, you collect these wonderful golden walnuts, each one holding a message of wisdom addressed only to you. Finally, you have your list of achievements which always is fun for me.
Game mechanics is your standard seek and find inventory items, solve puzzles and to much to my delight, a variety of interactive hidden object scenes that were very well done which included collecting twelve items, finding the silohettes and using them in the scene, and best of all, finding pairs that work together; all very well designed and fun to play. Mini-games were well conceptualized and relatively easy,so I thought before I got to the weaving machine which was where my demo ended. I cant wait to go back and start from the begining, this time taking my time and enjoying the scenery.
KUDOS to one of my favorite game developers. I know we have had our differences in the past but this time you dont disappoint. I personally look forward to 50 more games from you. happy anniversary!
I recommend this game!

Seven gnomes wait in silence, holding a secret and it is up to you to take up the hunt and find the path to the Chamber of Fortune. According to legend, Edward J. Smith created a secret chamber deep underneath his estate before he mysteriously vanished. Finding what lies beneath that chamber is your goal and soon this game becomes a treasure hunt filled with dark dangers.
The storyline, voice-overs along with the music are actually the only redeeming element in this game, eerie and haunting with great sound effects. Visually, the graphics are poor, hand drawn cut scenes with dark and blurred graphics that make finding objects very difficult. Overall the game is dark but I did like the artwork, the ones that I could actually see.
It is too bad because the game has much to offer. With three play modes to choose from, a HOPA that has you playing one HO scene after another, blended in with mini-games that are simple to play and some tricky puzzles to solve. You have a diary that offers clues and poems that you find along the way.
The Hidden Object scenes are junk piled with no interactions. Unfortunately the blurred graphics make some items almost impossible to find. As an extra treat you have 35 morphing object to detect but as there are no achievements, I really dont know what they will offer. YOu have a clock that times you and everytime you skip a puzzle, 15 minutes are added. Again, with no achievement or scoreboard, what is the point.
This could have been a brilliant game to play, whatwith the storyline, the music which I simply loved and the errie atmosphere. However, visually, the developers have really gone off mark and I doubt that this game will be popular.
I got as far as inside the house and decided to call it a day. Perhaps if I have an extra credit on hand, I may just use it . The storyline is interesting and I am curious to find what exactly is the treasure. It is too bad though, the game had potential.
I don't recommend this game.

Another favorite series brings us the third chapter of Love Chronicles where evil Alura is back with a vegence. After years of battling the forces of evil (game one and two), our handsome Prince returns home only to find his Kingdom under attack by Alura. Our Prince has only one chance to stop her and for that he must travel to the past and change her fate by stopping a dark lord by the name of Zander who is responsible for transforming Alura over to the dark side.
At first glance I was terribly disappointed with the sounds and visuals, Graphics are washed out and blurred, especially the cut scenes. The Main menu offers three play modes and game features include voice-overs, a journal and a map that allows you to travel to areas of interests.
What I did like about this third installment is that it offers an interesting adventure gameplay along with Hidden object scenes that vary in style and mini-games that are entertaining and somewhat challenging. There are three types of HO scenes that I have came across during the trial: interactive, using one object on another and reverse where you place objects back into the scene; all very clever and some even challenging which made this game fun. Adventure includes collecting inventory objects, whisking up potions and finding jewels for your box of amulets required to free Alura. Mini games were well conceptualized and relatively easy to solve.
Alas, there were no extras like collectable, MOs or achievements which was a let down for me. Along with the substandard Graphics, I find myself torn as whether this third chapter is in actuality worth a CE price tag. I have enjoyed the series so far and feeling somewhat dismayed, the inventive HO scenes and the storyline just do not tempt me enough to rush out and buy it unless I take advatage of the sale today.
Just to share a thought, as a game reviewer, I usually base all my ratings on my own personal likes and dislikes and try to uphold a certain set of standards when rating a game. At times, I am unpopular and I suppose I will be amongst a minority of gamers who may think the same. lately I feel I am forced to drop my standards when rating games. Once upon a time, my expectations from a CE game were high and a 5 star rating involved top notch graphics, great sound and visual effects, intricate storylines that evoked an emotional response to characters and held my attention for the duration of the game, game mechanics that presented me with some challenge and a desire to replay the game because I just simply loved it. HOPA games are a personal favorite of mine and I do love adventures where I require the use of some analytical skills to solve as well as HO scenes that are creative and fun to play. Mini-games should be interesting and entertaining as well not to mention challenging just to prolong the overall gaming experience. However lately, I sense that game developers have also dropped their own standards and are producing CE games that to me, look like glorified Standard Edition games. I am perplexed that many game reviewers are awarding 5 stars to games that are not up to former standards that we were once familiar with. It use to be the CE games meant more that 6 hours of game play and offered us more that just wallpapers and screensavers. To be honest, this game is not worth 5 stars nor is it worth a CE price tag. It could have been much better and could have offered more than just 5 chapters and a bonus game. The graphics could have been sharper and cut scenes could have been clearer. Voice overs could have been more animated and the technical aplications could have been more up to date. Over all I do not give this game a 5 star and even a 4 is a bit of a reach. However I will recomend it merely because it does offer a an entertaining gaming experience and is what I think, the final chapter to our story. It really comes down to your own budget. I myself will either take advatage of the sale or wait for the SE version to come out.
I recommend this game!
