Loved this version of my favorite franchise. There's a small learning curve but it's worth it for this game. Best TM of the year!

I love these games but the last few have fallen flat, I almost passed on this one. So glad that I didn't. The challenge is back! Combine that with some nifty new features and I am hooked.

Keeping it short and simple so that I can go back to playing. :)
Another engaging and challenging TM from this series with only one quibble - I miss the collectables! Devs, I would have bought the CE version if it came with collectables and a strategy guide! This game (actually, the entire Incredible Dracula series) is one of the very, very few in which a strategy guide comes in handy. And collectibles are a must for those slow spots where you're just gathering what you need. I almost gave the game a 4 because of those two things. But, it's a great game and I am really enjoying it so 4 stars wouldn't be fair.
Plus it'll last longer without a guide because I'll get to replay the levels.
I recommend this game!

This is a great game. It's got really well done super puzzles, more adventure elements than H0's, decent in-game puzzles and some fun extras. If this were a regular CE, I'd give it a 5.
But it's not a regular game. It's the latest installment in the Mystery Case Files, a series which has defined and inspired the entire hidden object adventure genre. A series which has always offered more than the games around it, a series which was a trailblazer, a series that was the high water mark that no other games could reach.
This game does not live up to the series at all. The art work is great but it doesn't have the same lush attention to detail and atmosphere that made the first Dire Grove so haunting. Gone are the challenging and quirky achievements, replaced with the same boring "Find x in y minutes" and "without a hint" that you see everywhere. No morphing objects, just 9 buildings that blink and are gone. I could go on and on. Everything that made MCF (and especially the original Dire Grove) special has been replaced with a shinier version of every cookie cutter game out there.
The only thing that makes this game stand out are the super puzzles but there are only 6. Everything else could be swapped with whatever game is coming out next week by any developer.
I was expecting innovation plus a revamping of the extras that made those games so amazing. I got glossy bunch of disappointment.
I don't recommend this game.

NevoSoft was the first developer to catch my attention way, way back when. "Mushroom Age" was so ridiculously quirky, over the top and inventive (In story, art *and* gameplay) that I fell for the devs and bought all of their games.
But 2008 was a long time ago in the game world. The wit and imagination is still there but the technology has moved on without them. At it's barest bones, this game has some unique concepts. I love the idea of a creepy mansion with puzzle doors. The hand-drawn HO list is new and charming. Inventory items are challenging.
But...
Actually this whole game is a "That's cool, but..." But there is too big a lag between scenes. But there are too many H0's. The live-action actors are well incorporated but amateur. It's good to have a jump map but it's hard to make out which room is which and, combined with the lag, makes inventory items more frustrating than fun.
It would be wonderful if Nevosoft could bring their art, weirdness and delightfully peculiar vision up to current tech standards but...until they do, I'll have to pass.
I don't recommend this game.

This is the sort of pretty little distraction that goes so well with a morning cup of coffee.
Your goal is simple - populate your island with a collection of musical monsters. In order to advance, you'll need 4 things - food, coins, diamonds and time. Your monsters generate money, a bakery creates food to make grow and become more profitable, diamonds speed up everything and time is what you'll spend waiting for everything to happen.
You can skip ahead by buying diamonds but that's not really necessary. There are simple tasks to perform to get either food or coins. Or you can put the game in windows mode and catch up on Facebook.
The rewards are worth waiting for. Each new monster adds a wonderful layer to the song you're building. You can use the breeding chamber to create monsters of your own and extra cash can be used to tidy up your island.
I'll be using it as a lovely little moment of zen to start the day.

This isn't a bad game, it's just sort of blah. No real challenge, too many H0's in later chapters, collectibles and achievements are sort of tacked on.
The story - Crystals sprout around your inherited resort and start mutating all life, plus people are getting kidnapped and something is going on. Not bad, just boring. The mutating crystal thing is an interesting concept but it doesn't really get used.
Gameplay - No H0's in the first few chapters but tedious amounts in later chapters. Middle chapters have a few silhouette variations and one lonely "put the items back" scene. Mini-games are dolled up versions of the usual stuff and many of them are slow. Inventory items are fairly obvious. Morphing objects are mostly very obvious. A few I clicked on thinking it was something I needed.
Can't speak for the extra content. After the 4th H0 in 10 minutes, I was too bored to finish the game and can't play the bonus chapters.
I really wish I hadn't let the sale talk me into this game. It's maybe worth the SE price if there's nothing else to play.
I don't recommend this game.

The first Final Cut blew me away. It was just a great game with an intriguing story, excellent puzzles, and a ton of weird/cool achievements that made each new area exciting. The art deco aesthetic was absolutely lovely.
I was a little worried that this sequel would be a let down. Boy was I wrong! This game was actually better than the first. I played on expert and found it challenging but still completely absorbing. (No black bar hints which is perfect.) There are fewer H0's than the previous game which is much better. Puzzles are varied with a few unique logic-based one that were a little easy but fun. There's a really great mix of collectibles some of which aren't on every page. Scattering them around the game instead of putting all of them in every room is a lot more fun. You really have to pay attention.
The art work is just as gorgeous, maybe even a bit better.
There is a choice between H0's or match three which made for a nice change of pace. The last few games by this developer were a bit H0 heavy. Having an option made all the difference.
The bonus game was great. A little trickier, a few better puzzles, a bizarre story. Maybe a few too many H0's but I mostly played the match 3.
All in all, one of the few games that actually inspired me to write a review. There are a few small things which I would have liked - A few more unique puzzles (always want those); collectables & achievements for the bonus game, plus more of the weirder achievements from FC:1 (like turn on the lights), and cats. Needs more cats. Or maybe cat achievements. ;)
I recommend this game!

The demo was very nice - had some neat puzzles, "use an item to get an item" H0's, a few clever inventory uses and the promise of hunting pirate treasure. I wasn't quite intrigued enough to buy the CE but looked forward to purchasing this SE.
What a let down! Once the demo chapters are over, this game is nothing but back-to-back standard H0's, back-to-basics puzzles and tedious back-tracking. Speaking of back, that's how I want my money. The devs polished up the first chapters, promising a decent game, and then tossed the rest together with leftover bits from all of their last year's games. "Play the demo, see if you like it!" would be very, very bad advice.
I tried to give it a chance, hoping that later chapters wold be better but after an hour I was just too bored to go any further.
I'll be very careful to read all the reviews of an Ers game from now on.
I don't recommend this game.
