I'm on the fence with this one. Games have taken a pretty big dip in creativity and good story lines these past couple of years, so this one is pretty bad, but a little better than the sludge we've been getting. I'll probably get it with the sale, just because it's been awhile since I've bought a game and I'm needing a time killer today. Every lackluster, same 'ole same 'ole CE game that they've been throwing at us for the past few years has me convinced that the creative teams who gave us games like the early League of Light, Lost Lands and a few others back in 2013 - 2015 have been replaced with production line, computer generated slop. Like everything else nowadays, it's quantity over quality and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only Fishy who feels this way. I just don't know if I recommend this or not, so a fat lotta help I was. Sorry guys.
So yeah....I hope the writer of this terrible story reads this and has the decency to be at least a little embarrassed. The Czech Republic has THE best universal healthcare systems in the world, so starting the story out with a woman drowning in medical bills is not only projection, but just wrong.
The story line has no rhyme or reason to it and it's just all over the place. I mean, pick a script and stick with it, amiright? Horrible map, the collectibles make no sense and again, I just couldn't get past that insulting beginning. Before anyone thinks "this was set before universal healthcare was even a thing" has obviously not gotten to the charging the cellphone stage....which is at the beginning as well. This is about as bad as a game gets.
I'm pretty sure we all know what to expect with the Park Ranger games and this one delivers as well as all the others. I get these for nights when I can't fall asleep, or rainy days when I just want to chill with a glass of wine and not think too hard. I actually love these and most likely will get them every time they come out.
So finally we get a quality game with originality, good story line and a bit of a challenge. This really did tick all the boxes and for the first time in awhile I was sucked in and lost track of time. Bravo! I knew this genre wasn't dead yet. Whatever creative team put this together, please have them make all the games from now on, so we don't have to keep wading through weeks of duds, just to get to a gem.
Find a key, find a screwdriver, find another key, do a puzzle you've done a thousand times before, look for the same objects you've searched for a thousand times before....then give us money to do it all again.
I stopped playing after just a few minutes, but then read the glowing reviews so I thought I'd give it another go and play the whole demo. What is it I'm not seeing that others are? There are too many frustrations in this game.... The colors are non-existent and it's just one grey scene after another The games are the same as the other 3543541 games we've seen. In one of the HOPs (another grey scene) the descriptions don't really match the items you're looking for, so as a non-skipper I had to just play some guessing games and by the time it was done, I had forgotten why I was there in the first place. You have to wait until all of the notifications are done (achievements, what you're supposed to do next, etc...) before you can move on, which stops the flow of the game.
The characters are at least pretty good, but all in all it's just too dull in looks and gameplay to merit a 5-star rating But that is just my take on it. Again, maybe I'm just not seeing what others are.
I'm sure my review will be posted a month from now, but I can't just delete this one and move on without saying something.
This game has reached a level of stupid that I honestly thought we'd never see again. As someone who's been here since "Mirror Magic Deluxe" was new, I've seen some real stinkers and this one is among the top 10 of those.
The story line was boring (like, REALLY boring) and the characters were so stale and dull that by the end of the demo I couldn't have cared less about what happens to them next.
As for the mini-games and HOP's, stupid. Just stupid, tedious and forgettable. There was no fun to be had in any of them.
I swear I don't mind games that might have stuff we've seen before (I mean really, how many variations could there possibly be in HOP games?) as long as the story line and characters are intriguing, creative and the games are fun I'll happily shell out the money, but this one hits none of those things.
I'm really hoping we haven't reached the end of creativity in the HOP genre......I really do love them.
This is nowhere NEAR a 5-star game. The visuals are terrible, the games are completely lackluster and the story line is ridiculous. I have a couple of game coupons that need to be redeemed soon, but I'm not even sure I want this as a free SE game. There is no reason for me to go into details, as other reviewers have already done that, but I can't in good conscience rate this above a two. Sorry to be such a negative Nellie.
I was pleasantly surprised by this! It's been a good while since I've really gotten into a BF game, so I wasn't expecting much....but for the first time an a long time I lost all track of time because I was so into it. It's not a brain buster, but if you're wanting to enjoy a lazy day and get lost for a little while, this game is for you. There is no reason for me to break the entire game down, as other reviewers have already done that....I just felt the game deserved a positive shout out.
I'm actually enjoying this one. The story line so far hasn't lagged and the puzzles/HOP's have been a bit different and fun. Other reviewers have in depth detail, so I just wanted to throw my two cents in to say it's the first CE game I've been really interested in for quite awhile.
