It would be great if Big Fish would reveal the game developer in the marketing copy for each days new game. Those of us who play regularly know who the top developers are by now. I almost always buy the CE each week but I also always read the reviews first. The reviewers are very honest and I find the reviews generally helpful. However in the case of this game I think the reviewers have been overly critical. This game has alot of the content and features of the better CE games. Good solid story line, great graphics are just a few. I like the game content to be logical and I enjoyed how the things we were collecting had meaning during the game. (ie. helping the five girls, collecting the twelve keys, obtaining magic skills ). All of those actions tied into the ending and I find that rewarding. The biggest weakness I see in this game is the lack of voice overs. We are past the days when reading the story copy is exceptable. They could have used the usual diary or book if they did not want to do voice overs. Voice overs when done well do bring a personal touch and set the mood for a game. But while this game lacked that finess it did hit many other high notes. I enjoyed it very much and I do recommend this game.
Wonderful game. I played the whole thing at one sitting including the bonus game. I never do that but this one kept me hooked for the whole game. I loved the original puzzles. I usually skip the puzzles in most games but these were fun. The attention to detail from ERS is always exceptional. They have mastered the art of detail. I loved the way there was constant background movement, even in the HOS scenes. And about those. the HOS scenes were so much fun. Diverse and interesting to do. This game has you thinking logically all the way through with beautiful graphic and great music too. The ERS games have a very distinctive graphics style that I find very appealing. They use it in all of their games and I really love it. If you are reading this review ERS, give your graphics team a raise, they are the best in the business! I hope everyone will buy the CE for this game because I think the bonus game was very well done and really tied into the story, I like when developers use the bonus game to give us background for the story. This one really added value to the game. I highly recommend this game and hope to see many more like it, thanks to ERS and Big Fish games!!
A new breed of virus has spread throughout the City of Oxford. You must search the city for a missing girl who holds the key to stopping the global epidemic!
This is one of the best games of the year. The Gogii team is so talented and forward thinking. Thier games are always amazing but this one is so special. I found my self really invested in this families story and was so saddened by Micheal Morrisey's story in the extra game play. This game is so perfect i cannot believe it. Not a monster or fake world, just a town in Nova Scotia with a horrible event that changes lives and all but destroys a family with a tragic story. The Morrisey family could almost be real. Be sure to watch the back story. It gives us good insight into how meticulous the Gogii team is. Thanks so much for an amazing story and game experience. I loved it.
I am late in giving a review so all has been said by prior reviewers. I can only add that for many reasons this is one of the best games I have ever played and I am a weekly player. it is so well done on every level i loved everything about it. the bonus content at the end is great. they have a section on how to make a game. it looks like they had a great time making this game and it shows. Great game, I highly recommend it.
Rescue a young girl from the Penumbra Motel. Solve puzzles, unravel a long standing mystery of death and disappearances in this heart-pounding adventure game!
I love all of the games from this developer but this one is very special. I love that it has no hidden object scenes to waste time finding needed objects. playing this game requires logic and attention to detail to get the most out of it. the real people to interact with is a great touch. It grabs my interest and the film scenes from WW II really make me think about what the story is behind what is happening. We are very methodically being drawn into a mystery from long ago. I am still playing and I cannot wait to see what the real answer is to the the murders of this whole family. For now I will keep quessing and playing to see if I can figure it out. This is a great game.
There are so many reviews I cannot but add, Bravo !!!!! A great, great game. these people make the best games out there. I love them all but this one, masterful. Loved everything about it .
Love this game developer. They never dissapoint. They improve with every game they produce. They set the bar for others. True artestry. This shows how good games can be when visual art, storytelling and technical expertise come together. Pure magic. Thanks ERS games and big fish for another great game.
The mystery surrounding Harry Houdini's death and his relationship with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is well documented but little known to most people. I love this series for bringing real people from the past into a game. It is so well constructed that the history of the game is woven in with all of the standard HOG fun. My favortie part was the hunt for the code words. To have the music play the tune that Houdini made for his wife was priceless. Such a romatic and special touch. Who know that is pet name for his beloved wife was Rosabelle. Love this game developer. I hope they are on their next project now. I cannot wait.
I love this series. it is so well done. I was getting a bit worried when i finally killed Eva, the villian of the piece, but not worry. The series lives on. This is such a well crafted game. There are subtle things that really enhance the gaming experience. I love the background sounds for each area. The chirping of the birds or the sound of the crickets in the woody areas. One of my favorites in this game was the chopping sound of the spiders eating the wood on the floor and of course getting in our way of picking up a vital game piece. the visual detail is stunning too. Take time to notice the small details throughout the game. At the very beginning you see Frances walking down an aisle notice that the soles of his shoes are all scuffed and his overalls strap that is unbuttoned swayst behind him with each step. Just what you would see in a active young boy. Wonderful detail that gives me great joy when I play. This developer also has a great sense of humor, they make me laugh. I loved this game as i did all of thier others. Enjoy!
