This is a solid 4 star game for me. I love anything Victorian looking and the artwork and graphics are detailed and varied enough for me. No garish fluorescent colors, all muted, which is fine by me and seemed appropriate for the setting. The storyline is not developed enough so that prevents me from giving it 5 stars, but they did some interesting ways in how to obtain items that made it very fun for me. Although I consider myself an advanced player, I realize that this game would not satisfy those who insist on very hard core, challenging gaming aspects. I play to relax and don't like puzzles within my games, but I will try them to a certain degree and found those in this game to be somewhat fun although I did skip those that I have no patience with (slider puzzles). Other than that, I never used the hint button and made it through just by using the map for help. It was challenging enough for me and I liked it although it was somewhat short after I replayed it. I enjoyed it but I recommend buying it on a BOGO or similar sale price, as it might not live up to your expectations otherwise. But it looked beautiful and gave me the good time I was seeking.
I recommend this game!

This game was so disappointing to me. I'd played the demo of the CE first and saw that the devs never bothered to remove the many scrolls that are scattered about the scenes which are supposed to be included only in the CE. So quality control was lacking here. The game itself was boring with poor animation and poor voice acting. I found myself hitting the hint button far too much late in the game because the story was just too tedious and I just wanted it to end already. The ending itself was abrupt and anticlimactic and the magic glove was hardly used at all rendering it useless. There were also some items in the hidden object scenes that were mislabeled. The only scene I liked was the banquet room early in the game. It looked pretty and it was fun to explore but sadly, it's not enough for me to recommend this game. The quality overall just wasn't there.
I don't recommend this game.

What a beautiful, fun game! I enjoyed everything about it. Colorful graphics, subtle music, good voiceovers, and an interesting fantasy storyline that got more involved towards the end. There's quite a bit of reading between the diary and the notes you come across, and the storyline waffled between two women but came to a satisfying conclusion in the end. Minigames were different and interesting. This is a good, long game well worth the price since it's several years old but played without any problems on my Windows 10 computer. If you like the demo, you are sure to love the rest of it.
I recommend this game!

I was vacillating between giving 4 or 5 stars because the ending disappointed me, but decided to bump it to 5 because I had an absolute blast playing it. I love these point and click adventures where you have to figure out absolutely everything on your own with no hints whatsoever. The drab and dreary look of the game suited the locations and story perfectly and I didn't find there to be too much dialog to read like in some other games. Some ambient sounds were spooky and fitting for the storyline and it was very easy to navigate the town and remember where everything was. Beginners to these point and click games will be frustrated but seasoned players like myself will relish this one. The ending could have been better fleshed out but that's the only gripe I have with the game. I enjoyed it too much to give it anything less than five stars. Do demo it first because it's an acquired taste for those not familiar with this type of gameplay.
I recommend this game!

An adventure game with no hidden object scenes. Yay! I enjoyed this one due to its storyline and graphics and found it a great challenge because there's no map to help you navigate. You just have to remember where you are or diagram your own map to get you around. The best thing about having no map is that you start to recognize where you've been and where you need to go, so for those who like this kind of challenge, you might enjoy trying out this one.
I recommend this game!

This game is reminiscent of the old games from the 90s where you are left to wander around to find the things you need in order to progress. This was very fun for me as I'm from that era but I'd forgotten how demanding that exploration can be at times. There are many areas to explore and you can look around in all directions, so it can be maddening when you forget to look up or down in some places when you think you've seen it all and cannot find anything to do. For those who like this kind of challenge, it's definitely there for you but it had become tedious for me towards the end. I attribute that not to any bias towards the game itself, but by my long absence from these games that I used to play long ago. It's worth trying out because it's much longer than the games we get now, so do demo it if you're on the fence about it. You might just like it.

Although this game played better under Windows 8, it worked well enough in Windows 10 except for the times it would kick me out. Not to worry, as the game picked up right where it left off so it didn't set me back much. The graphics are gorgeous in detail, the music is authentic and the puzzles are interesting and doable. It was so much fun that I always play it through twice. The map is the most outstanding feature in this game. It is huge, 3D, and very involved. It is worth the price of the game itself just to try to figure it out. If you have a free game coupon or punch card code that's soon to expire, consider picking up this game if you can't find anything else to get. I don't think you'll consider it wasted but do demo it first to make sure it works on your computer.
I recommend this game!

This game is nothing but puzzles but oh, what fun they are! For experienced puzzlers, this would seem to be too easy but for me, it was just right. I took off one star for not making the map user friendly. Not for it being non-transportive, but the fact that you have to go the library on the first floor in order to look at it every time you need to consult it! This is poor game design, in my opinion, and is a poor excuse to prolong gameplay. There's also one puzzle that doesn't have a reset button which I am stuck on and there's no way to try a different strategy other than to start a whole new game. This is unacceptable to me when all the other puzzles have reset buttons. There's no reason why this feature should not be updated but since it hasn't, I can give no higher rating than four stars. The graphics, however, are quite beautiful and the humor from your host both within the game and in the strategy guide are well worth the price.
I recommend this game!

This little gem is for those who've tired of the same cookie cutter type of games that we've been seeing here. This one is a combination of match-3 and marble popper and is an absolute delight. There's no storyline here but it's physics based in its motion and the real fun comes in how you can shake the cube to get the ball colors that you need. It's hard to describe accurately so you need to demo it first to see if it grabs you like it did me. The game just throws you in there to find your way around, but the colors, sound, and background movement really drew me in and I found myself liking it more than I thought. If you have a PCC or free game code that is close to expiring, consider using it on this one. It might not be up your alley at first glance, but it's worth purchasing to utilize those grey cells that may have gone dormant with the cookie cutter games that we've become so used to seeing.
I recommend this game!

Whimsical, charming, and quirky are probably the best descriptions of this little gem of a game. Lots of potion making sprinkled among the gnomes with harp music playing is just the kind of zen feeling you'll get while you navigate their little village. There's nothing too difficult going on here but to them, getting their potions made is serious business and you'll be carried along in the fun of making them. The artwork is very unique in that it's different from other games but it seems to fit in perfectly with how gnomes are depicted living in their cottages. Do demo the game to see if it'll work since it was made before Windows 10. It's worth taking a look at to see if the visual style appeals to you.
I recommend this game!
