I was disappointed when the free trial ended. It's not my usual genre of game so that surprised me. What also surprised me during play was that there were no real directions - do I choose swap, match, etc.? What are the coins for? I've played M3s before so I was familiar with the "bombs", hexagons, locks, etc. and finally realized I could build a village with my coins. The reviews helped quite a bit, although I did read them afterwards. The graphics were bright and artful and the villages you build quite lovely. Give me this a try. It's very relaxing and addictive.
After doing the trial run on Island Tribe 1, I was hooked and immediately purchased all 4 in the series. While I thought the first in the series was quite short and relatively easy (beginners will love this game), I just finished spending all day and half the night playing IT2 and loved, loved, loved it! The storyline is simple enough, the graphics bright and the music not overbearing at all. The levels do get a bit harder as the game goes on but you have the ability to replay which is a great feature. There is so much to do! This game offers hours and hours of entertainment and fun. Glam-ma says at least give the trial a go because you will be hooked matey!
I recommend this game!

Vacation Quest: The Hawaiian Islands
Your passport to the most beautiful & stunning places in the world begins with Vacation Quest: The Hawaiian Islands!
This was such a relaxing HOG. You're in Hawaii, on vacation and enjoying the spa, pool, golf, boating, sun, surf and sand. Sigh. Never been there but the graphics were so bright and cheerful and the music so perfectly Hawaiian I could have closed my eyes and imagined myself in the middle of the islands. I was so disappointed when the trial period ended that it immediately went in my personal game journal of "gotta get it". In fact, a major thunderstorm was going on directly outside my window and I wasn't even aware of it until (1) the game ended and (2) my daughter from across the street called me - both happened simultaneously (lol). This glam-ma says if you want fun and relaxation - go to these Hawaiian Islands.
Is this a real game show somewhere out in t.v. land? This was an hour's worth of jumbled piles of trashy items that needed to be paired and they automatically disappeared and you get points for how quickly you can find items in the big mess. If this wasn't bad enough it was paired with quasi-humorous quotes from celebrities of days gone by (which makes me question how old this game is anyway) to "buck" us up. I was raised and raised my children to declutter their lives/homes in the spring and fall and it's worked for generations of my family without having a stupid, vacuous game show telling me how. I kept playing because I kept hoping for something better, something else, something that made sense to start happening. If you can't unclutter your life twice a year yourself - you're a hoarder - get help. If this was meant to be amusing it missed its mark. This was an insult to my intelligence.
I test drove the CE but really only needed the strategy a few times to verify things only to find I was way ahead of where the strategy guide was and had to backtrack a bit to get an item or use an item I already had.The storyline line was, the HOGs not too hard (make sure you pick up those fans) and pick up all the gold ducats along the way - you'll find out why later (smile). The individual who hired the detective wasn't some rich bourgeois person but someone who turned over his last 2 coins for his wife and daughter to be found and the guilt he must be feeling over their loss (pay attention to the beginning storyline and you'll find out why). The sound quality was great too. Can't wait to get the full version of this one. Glam-ma says this is a must have.
What story line? I loved the little footsteps that took you immediately from one place to another like magic but that was all I liked. It was strictly an HOG game because all there was were HOGs in every area and the scenes and backgrounds were dark and boring and - yawn. I can't say more because there just is no more to say. This Glam-ma says a "no go" for me.
I have to apologize for this review - I had not been feeling well and fell asleep and woke w/only 38 minutes to spare (must have been a power cat nap (smile)). Anyway, once I got the hang of the game I thought it was fun, amusing and very fast-paced. You really have to keep looking and moving or you will miss something. It took me a minute (or 2 or 3 or 4) to figure out how to upgrade and get additional workers and donkeys but once I got over that hurdle the game was on! I think it would be great for beginners and intermediates but maybe a tad bit cheesy for the super evolved experts. Truly disappointed when the free trial was over which is always a good sign for me personally that it goes in my personal journal "to get". The graphics were great, the characters amusing and the background music, well, after raising 3 children and having 3 grandchildren around all the time I tend to tune things out (lol). This glam-ma says give it a whirl.
It was a very cute game without a lot of challenge. If it weren't for the reading part, my granddaughter could probably have handled it very well (she's 6). My son is studying aviation and avionics so I'm learning more than I'd like to about what exactly makes up a plane and makes it fly so lately I'll stick to the ground and play with the cute chubby planes on this game. Too simple for me. I do occasionally like the brainless simple games but this one goes beyond by being overly redundant and simplistic. And what is the storyline anyway?
I found this game far too challenging for me. I understood the storyline but the instructions to "find the items that don't belong" were a big too vague. I have played another game similar to this - don't know if I'm allowed to give the name even though it's a bigfish game, and had a blast. The settings were too dark and I could barely find anything. Once I did though, putting the machines together was a breeze. Still, it gives the impression of cutesieness and fun but is actually rather difficult. Not for me.
I didn't quite get the storyline - if, in fact, there even was one. I got that you received a "treat" in finding a certain item not on the HO list and also got "tricked" for clicking on a certain item not on the HO list at the wrong time - pick the right time and it became a "treat". The HOs were at times quite small but the "hints" button recharged quickly. The music could have been more designed for the Halloween season - more creepy. Overall, I'd have to say a good game for youngsters (not really little monsters) or a family game. At least, this was my overall reaction for the trial period. Personally, it's not for me but this glam-ma says give it a whirl. At least try the free trial.
