Your character is driving through the woods ..... a tree is across the roadway ...... then, suddenly ..................
Graphics are really well done for this game. Very eerie. I can't comment on sound fx, voice overs or music as I had it all turned down.
Casual and Advanced difficulties.
I'm not quite sure what you have in regards to maps, journals, etc. because all that info isn't kept on the screen. Even your inventory disappears. You need to click on the rose at the bottom left side of the page ALL ..... THE ..... TIME! It's so exasperating!!! Want to see what's in your inventory? Click on the rose! Need to go back to the main menu??? Click on the ROSE!!!! Need to go back to the previous screen? Click on the dang ROSE!!!! I'm beginning to dislike roses ..... period. So frustrating. That alone cause me to discontinue playing the demo.
For all the above reasons, and several others, this is definitely NOT a purchase for me. It's quite a shame, actually, as I feel it could be a great game without all the faults.
I think this could be a good game. I think everyone should give this demo a try and hope you last longer than I did.
Enjoy!
I don't recommend this game.

Help Dad ..... Mommy and I are in the Picture!!!!!!
Your character, Albert, was painting a portrait of his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Iris when something went horribly wrong. scared1 Suddenly, his nightmare became his reality.
Graphics were very well done as were the voice overs. I like that eyes, lips, etc. actually move! big-grin Music seemed to change often. When in the game it was very creepy. During an HOG it seemed more inappropriate for the game .... IMO. Sound fx also well done.
Casual, Normal, Expert and Custom difficulties.
You have a journal that contains notes and objectives as well as a transportable map which will show as much or as little as you want depending on the difficulty setting. Your Inventory changes depending on whether you are in the 'real world' or the 'painting world'. Pretty cool.
HOGs were list and silhouette type with some interaction. You do go back to the same HOGs at least twice. Mini Games were nice. I did come across one that really had no viable instruction but I figured it out and completed it anyway - yay me!!!! I felt there were more HOGs than Mini Games.
You do have a little helper in the form of a fox named 'Smudge' who seems to get heavy items out of the way for you.
There is a lot of painting and coloring throughout the game play. The game starts out rather slowly and doesn't really 'take off' or seem to flow until the demo is almost over. Then, things start to 'click' and what you're doing makes sense. I have to admit to being intrigued with what's going to happen next. I'm not sure that experts will enjoy this game if it's chosen for difficulty. For amusement/entertainment I would recommend it for anymore. I will definitely purchase the SE. Give the demo a try and ...............
ENJOY!
I recommend this game!

CE Bling: I have to admit to getting confused with what was 'the usual' and what was 'extra'. * Collect 6 sets of 5 each (I found these to be slides - picture slides ... ask your grandparents if you don't know what 'slides' are). Smile! * Gallery - what is this for? Hmmmm.....confusing. * Secret Game which unlocks after the Bonus Game! Extra game??? That would be awesome. (Happy Dance!)
Except for the slides you collect, the CE Bling is rather light. I would have expected more in a CE. Unless the Bonus and Secret Games are necessary for the completion of the game, I think an SE would be more than ok for those of us on a budget.

I will definitely purchase the SE. So why not 5 stars??? I didn't get my personal 'wow' factor at the end of the demo. I hope you give this a try and ...............
Middleport had a history of being a safe haven for pirates and there secret treasures. Legend has it that a hex was put on the secret treasure to keep people away from it. Now, there are disappearances throughout the town and a black smoky figure has taken over the town. The Mayor has called on you for help.
The graphics are very much 'old-school' in that they are all sharp lines and corners, dull paint, unrealistic figures (almost stick figures they are so skinny - lol), Music was quite lovely considering the story line and the sound fx were done well. I did have a problem with the voice overs because there was no mouth movement or anything - grrrr - this is a pet peeve of mine!
Casual, Expert, Nightmare and Custom difficulties. "Custom' does not give you a lot of leeway in which to set your various items.
You have a 'journal' of sorts that contains EVERYTHING! And when I say 'everything' .... I mean EVERYTHING! There are tabs for 'journal', 'map', 'statues', 'animals' and 'missing pictures'. Like I said ..... everything - lol.
For not being released as a CE, you actually get a LOT of 'CE bling'. For instance: * Collect 43 statues * Collect 11 animals * Collect 43 'missing' posters WOW! You usually don't get THAT much in a CE these days!!!!!
While there really isn't a lot to rave about with this game, it certainly has a quiet way of sneaking up on you. At least that's how it happened for me. No big 'POW' moment .... you just realize that you are enjoying it .... in a pleasant easy-going way.
I would definitely recommend it for all levels of expertise. This is a definite purchase for me and I hope you join me in Middleport for what appears to be a great adventure!

You receive a missive from Tibet stating your niece and her entourage have gone missing. Without hesitation you are off to find her.
Graphics COULD have been quite good .... if not for the orange/gold crayon that was over-used. It truly seemed that EVERYTHING was orangey or gold ..... and that took away from the enjoyment of the game .... for me. Music was lovely and the sound fx couldn't be beat. Voice Overs seemed stilted and not very natural.
Regular, Advanced and Expert difficulties which could not be changed.
There is a journal that showed notes and Objectives, a transportable map that was very basic in what it showed (a curse OR a blessing).
HOGs (hidden object games) - what I came across were list-type games. The tutorial indicated that some of the 'green' (words) items 'could' be Morphing Objects .... or not. Instead, it could just mean that an additional step needs to be taken. There IS an Alternative Mahjong game you can play instead of the HOG. Mini Games were fun, some unique, some took some time to work out .... without being too difficult.
CE Bling: A small variety of 'extras' which included .... * Collectibles (these comprised 'groups/sets' when found) 11/10/12/9. Not sure WHAT these are. * Morphing Objects may, or may not, be found in some HOGS.
I wish I could say this game intrigued me enough to purchase it. Unfortunately, I became quite bored early on in the demo. IMO, there wasn't enough 'oomph' to make things entertaining and, as mentioned above, the bright, and overly used, oranges and golds were too often used when another color would have sufficed ..... making the game play less than enjoyable .... for me.
I think this would be a great game for any level of expertise. IMHumbleO, however, the story was blase, the game play lacked the entertainment value I look for and the CE extras seemed pretty bare. While it wasn't for me, I hope those who try their hand at this game play ............
And I DO NOT mean gold ingots and oranges you eat!

We've met the people of Laruaville several times before. When we first met these wacky characters, we helped them to build a town. Next, we helped them find the moon. And now we're helping them rebuild another town but the area they've chosen has no seasons.
The graphics are amazing. That bloated, animated fun look. Music was cute and sound fx were perfect.
Relaxed, Timed and "x" Number of Moves are your choices of difficulty.
The game play is a typical match 3 with a twist. There are obstacles in the form of locked boxes, etc. but there are bonuses for matching 4 or more like items. And the fun doesn't stop there. Make matches so you can move a key across the line to the lock. NOT so easy - lol. There is also a mini game between levels.
I found this demo so relaxing to play and got my personal 'wow' factor at the end of the demo (WHAT????? OVER???? NO!!!!! NOT YET!!!). It's also a great standalone game, meaning you don't need to have played the previous games to 'get' the story .... but ...... it's be nice - smile. Great for all levels of experience and perfect for a quite evening, rain storm outside, or just a lazy sunny afternoon. A definite purchase for me ..... again.
Who knew you can actually build ............. seasons!!!???!?!?!?!
As they condemned the innocent, They were so confident in their power. But ..... they were wrong. As they took from us those we loved, They thought they would get away with it. But ..... they were wrong. I am the Fear, swirling through the dark alleys of this lone City. I will make them afraid of their own shadows. I will make them suffer.
Well. O-o-k-a-a-a-y then. I guess that says it all.
Oh, except ...... then it rained.
Not a fan of the graphics. DEVS .... please .... pretty please ..... put your orange crayons AWAY!!!! "Dark" should NOT be orange .... everywhere ..... on everything. Music was great as were the sound fx. Voice overs were perfectly done IMO.
Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom difficulties.
Your character is a Detective hired by the Mayor of Coldstone to rescue his kidnapped wife and save others on an apparent 'hit list'.
There is a diary of sorts, a transportable map (the hint button didn't appear to transport), and a device that allows you to obtain fragments of memories that will help you solve crimes (yes .... MULTIPLE crimes).
Collect gold coins throughout the game (easy to find) because you need them to purchase items from a vendor at market stall IN the game that are necessary to continue the game play.
HOGs - were varied. List type, find "x" number of whatever and more. I don't believe there was an alternate game you could play. Mini Games were fairly easy for me (woohooo) but some did take time just to complete.
When you speak to the key characters in the game, you can choose what you ask or how you reply. Very much like 'speech bubbles' but they were 'bubbles'. Also, you never heard YOUR voice. Odd.
There was a cameo appearance by a very cool cat. No. Really. A cat. An animal ..... NOT a 'hip' person. Ok. I'm dating myself. Not 'date' like going out with someone. GRANDPARENTS HELP PLEASE!
I've read reviews ..... a LOT of reviews ..... that commented that this was an incredibly 'dark' and 'grim' game. That it was so bad it 'wasn't designed for children' under a certain age. I didn't find that to be the case. Yes, there were several murders in the demo. However, I don't believe any of them were any worse than we see on t.v., either in the news OR a show/movie. Just my humble opinion.
Unfortunately, this just isn't a purchase for me. The color orange was just too over-whelming and distracted me from playing the game. I wish I had enjoyed it more. I wish the cat played a bigger part --- maybe I would have purchased the game just for the sheer pleasure of the cat's entertainment value.
For those who enjoy the demo, I encourage you to complete the game, find the 'they' and save as many of the people on the 'hit list' as you can!

CE Bling:
There are tons of the usual 'extras' including the following:
* Collect 16 masks. Didn't have difficulty finding them. Also, if you click on any mask you will get a little blurb of what it's all about re voodoo, etc. Very cool!
* Achievements are all game-related and NOT for playing 3 HOGs without using the hint or solving 10 mini games without using a hint, etc. That was a breath of fresh air.

An ice scuplture, no matter how stunningly beautiful and admired, can also be ...... destroyed. The star of the ice rink show is in danger. She is being stalked but, realistically, what can you do???
The graphics are .... ok. I HAVE seen other games where the graphics were so realistic ..... it could almost be "real life". Yes .... THAT lifelike. The music was ok, not annoying. I didn't have to turn it down. Sound fx were very well-done too. The voice overs were, for the most part, very believable. There was ONE character that really could have been tweaked a bit to sound appropriately realistic and not so .... squeaky (?).
There are 4 modes of difficulty: Casual, Challenging, Expert and Custom. The tutorial offered you choices of NO tutorial, Special Features only or Full tutorial.
The HOGs (hidden object games) varied from VERY interactive lists to silhouettes and word games and more . Never anything dull and boring .... because then I wouldn't have played them and opted for the Alternate Match 3 game. lol A lot of the M/Gs I came across required patience (yes, yes, we all know .... I have none - big grin ) and took a bit of time to complete.
Besides a map (shows where you are and where available objectives are - I like that it shows MORE than 1 available objective area at a time), there is an Evidence Board. The Board holds pictures of the key characters in the game, with a mini-bio and "Objectives" and "Messages" tabs. The "Messages" were NOT really messages but pieces of paper, notes, etc. you find during the game play.
Also, the Evidence Board was almost on top of the Map and clicking the wrong one was a problem throughout the game play.
I think the story line was .... ok ..... not brilliant. This modern "whodunnit" sends obvious signals that the "obvious" does NOT lead you to the obvious culprit. HAH! lol I would recommend it to all levels of expertise.
Unfortunately, this is NOT a purchase for me. I got bored very easily. The 'ultra-modern' scenes hurt my eyes a bit - ouch! I never felt 'connected' to the game play. Nor did I get my personal 'wow' factor at the end of the demo.
Still and all, let's drop into this winter wonderland and see if you can find ...... whodunnit!
